Which job are you most looking forward to...

With the changes and additions to tanks, I'm curious as to what tank job everyone is most looking forward to.

Personally I'm stuck between War and Pld for the expansion. Been a War main up to now but Pld changes are starting to tempt me lol.

What do you think, going to stick with your current main or are you being tempted by the changes as well?

GNB, SE killed DRK Gameplay and his last piece of identity, so GNB bcs looks so fun and unique.

I hate the current IR > FC > FC > FC > FC > FC burst. It feels lame and uninteresting. So of course, they copy/pasted it onto DRK for Delirium > BS > BS > BS > BS > BS :rolleyes:

Meanwhile, PLD also keeps their Requiescat > HS > HS > HS > HS > Confiteur burst, with the new exciting addition of Confiteur to close it out instead of a 5th Holy Spirit. The innovation is real /s

Gunbreaker is actually unique, in that it's "Burst" is a secondary combo that weaves in an oGCD. Which is also on a 30s base CD. Also, is affected by SkS. So I'm looking forward to playing around with a SkS > Crit > DH Gunbreaker.

(Also, I'm super let down by the recycled animations WAR is getting for Inner Chaos and Chaotic Cyclone...)

And by unique Kalise means Heavensward dark knight with its oGCDs as a combo LOL.

Dark Knight is growing on me. It'll be difficult for anything to stop me playing PLD though.

I'm actually looking forward to DRK regardless of how bad most of those being vocal feel about it. It's going to be the first job I level to 80 maybe followed by PLD.

GNB because I think it's where I will be at home after they castrated DRK....at least I hope

WAR, because I love my fell cleave spam! GNB looks pretty good, PLD as well.

Is it really though? No matter how I look at what we know, it's another "press buttons when they light up" job like PLD. Every 30 seconds use Continuation combo in order, while pressing same ogcd after each step, otherwise spam the basic one with the other cartridge spender every 2nd combo or so and press cds whenever they're up. The rate at which they get their resource and the complete lack of choice of how to spend it doesn't really scream "depth" to me.

I wish I could be positive, but the SHB tanks really make it difficult... More utility is nice I guess...

Of the 4 tanks, GNB.
Its 2nd set of combos looks appealing to me, specially that its frequency is affected by SkS.
Altho out of the 4 it looks the weakest dps wise, at least its not afflicted with WARrifitis... for now.

2nd to that comes in DRK, altho DelIRium is a bit of a "ugh..." window, the job itself isn't so bad looking for me. Still, they really took the "Warrior of Darkness" theme quite literal on this job.

3rd would be WAR, I believe, cuz well, as a WAR I like Fell Cleaving the hell away, that's what WAR is all about.

4th comes in the good boy PLD. This whole expansion it will feel like BLM killing Ifrit with Fire. Not that I have anything against the job, just more interested on the others.

Most looking forward to:
Dark Knight > Gunbreaker > Paladin > Warrior

The order I'll level them:
Dark Knight > Paladin > Gunbreaker > Warrior

Dark Knight

Probably switching between GNB and PLD.

GNB due to its being fast-paced and looks fun.
PLD looking better than ever with the gap closer and the option to used between physical and magical rotation for AOE target and a cool finisher for both combos (Confiteor, Atonement)

Been maining WAR since ARR and I think it's time to try something new.

Fell cleave in 3.0 was nice foil for defiance. Inner cleave 4.x was a little overkill. Fellest cleave and deleting the opposing defiance skills 5.x is just overkill. War is literally just memecleave as identity now. Insert upgrade, upgrade, GO BACK meme here.

Ill probably level war 1st so i have something reliable to jump into endgame as it is almost identical familiar gameplay to start farming. But drk is coming up right after and probably 60/40 going to be my new main, or just swap for fights since my co tank is going gun/pld so we can do whatever we need.

Yes it is.

It's burst window rotation isn't simply CD > Big Skill x5

It's a 3 step GCD combo with an oGCD to weave in. But that only takes 3 out of 5 GCD's for a standard 10s burst window. So then you have to decide whether you want to do your normal rotation, or take advantage of any buffs and try and apply your 2 DoTs. All the while, having up to 5 other oGCD actions you want to weave in (2x Rough Divide, Blasting Zone, 2x Burst Strike (Fuelled by Bloodfest)) - All within that 10s burst window.

To say nothing about how SkS will be a great stat for GNB due to their burst combo being affected by it, which will then also desync it from rDPS CD's (Since it's base CD is 30s you'll be reducing it from that so it won't easily line up with the 60/90/120/180s rDPS CD's) as well as requiring a Cartridge to initiate (Bearing in mind, if Bloodfest is available, you'd want to use that for 2x Burst Strikes during the window, rather than to initiate the combo and only have 1 Burst Strike).

This is all a lot different than "Hurr Durr Inner Release/Delirium/Requiestcat > 5x Fell Cleave/Bloodspiller/Holy Spirit(Confiteur)" every 90/90/60s that maybe you weave in Upheaval + Onslaught/Flood of Darkness + Plunge/Intervene + Spirits Within during.

The Dark Knight rework didn't match my expectation (and it wasn't even high), and i don't like pets..even if its Fray.

I'll consider Dark Knight if it makes up for it's slow playstyle in damage. If not it's going to be Gunbreaker since it looks fast and engaging and thus far seems more like HW Dark Knight. Which is what people really wanted back for Dark Knight.

Warrior 2x

Looking forward for Gunbreaker. I've been waiting since It was hinted at since the first Shadowbringers trailer. Also, need a new main class since....they kinda killed Astro for me

Out of the tanks its paladin for me. I love how they alternate between physical damage and magical damage for their rotation and they gave the magic rotation a much needed upgrade. The gap closer is a nice bit of icing on the cake.

Gnb is next, it honestly doesn't dazzle me as much as dancer did but I know I'm gonna give it a try at some point.

As for war and drk? Meh I've never been much of a tank player so I'll eventually get to them.

Will be Gunbreaker
Always want a sword wielding job without a shield, try DRK, really not into the MP management and DA spamming, but DRK did have the best job quest among 3 tanks

At each expansion release, all of my tank jobs go on probation. They have to fight for their job of "being my main" again for the new expansion. All of the tank jobs will be leveled (all tanks will be leveled up side-by-side, and swapped every so many levels, with the goal they will hit 80 around the same time).

That said, here is the order of what I am looking forward to leveling, most to least interested:
1. PLD: FF14's ShB PLD is the most interesting version of PLD I have ever seen. Instead of the traditional turtle tank with healing spells and buffs, we get this more offensive paladin that is not afraid to use magic offensively.
2. DRK: The ShB changes to the class spark my curiosity. No more DA spam. Spending mana as a one time withdrawal for a 30 second Darkside rather than the tick feels more right with me than the spending-over-time version. Also, I have a iLevel405 Eurekan weapon ready to go.
3. WAR: My current main up in 3rd place? Yes it is. The only appeal to me for ShB is that now we have a way to maintain our damage boost with as part of our AOE rotation. This was much needed. The adjustments to the job, such as Holmgang's CD, doesn't bother me. I am more concerned about the feel of the job when I play it. Yes, I have a iLevel405 Eurekan weapon for this job too.
4. GNB: I am only leveling it to:
a. Consolidate gear
b. Try the new tank
c. Confound how a tank can do backflips in full plate. I can only imagine me playing GNB in that iLevel 390 Eurekan armor.

All of them. I have one main and three alt characters so I'm distributing all of the jobs between each of them.

DRK will be my main's tank, though. DRK, SCH, SAM, MCH and BLM.

Alt No. 1 will be GNB, AST, DRG, DNC and SMN.

Alt No. 2 is WAR, NIN and RDM.

Finally, alt No. 3 shall be PLD, WHM, MNK and BRD.

DNC. I've wanted it since before the release of HW.

GNB is quickly becoming a close second though.

I usually play DPS, but GNB I think will be the one to make me a tank main. So very excited to play it!

GNB, because DRK was turned into WAR. I'm going to miss the greatswords though and hope that some gunblades will look nice.

To be frank, you've just described how every class works in all hotbar-based MMOs.

Personally looking forward to GNB the most due to it being "busier" than the other tanks, and FF8 themed.
