Hell ya I chanted his name in real life at the same time xD
New theory: we're all Tempered by Yoshi-P.
And I'm totally fine with that, I love him! He just oozes passion and enthusiasm. He could be talking about grass growing and it would still make me happy and excited about grass <3
His smile is seriously contagious~
Yoshi-P has that beloved dev power, which is an awesome status to reach! Well done :) (has kind of had it for a while). SE best treasure it though- don't want to Bethesda it away with some 76 fiasco lol. TES6 will still sell fine, but I imagine the CE will be lower than if that issue hadn't happened before (ffxiv 1.0 tier issues with 76 release, except they didn't handle it as well as SE did).
"Paint drying with Yoshi-P"
Bonbori: MY FAVORITE SHOW IS ON!!!
Haha :)
To be fair, they could've shown a test pattern and that audience would've gone berserk for it. Maintenance crews are going to have to hose that auditorium down tonight.
I mean for all that he has done (his team also obviously) and his vision, the guy should have a bronze statue or something, lol
I liked how he lifted his hands and everyone immediately stopped. His power grows greater by the day.
I'm liking this Yoshi is a Primal theory... wait.
Yoshi-P
Yoshi Primal
From some fan-made documentaries, it was clear that Yoshi P knew about what fans wanted, (as he has played MMOs himself), and what the 1.0 devs were doing wrong. One thing that stood out to me, was that iirc, he asked the 1.0 people what they knew of other MMOs, and what they were doing, and they couldn't answer. They hadn't even been looking at the competition, what they were doing right or wrong, which seems like poor business practice to me.
(It's been years since I watched the docos, so my memory may be fuzzy on stuff).
Also, managing people's creativity is important.
The doco talked about how in 1.0, that sometimes people would spend stupid amounts of time on modeling things, trying to make them look perfect, when in reality they should have made "good enough" and move onto the next model. For example that I think was mentioned in a doco, that something simple like a barrel had someone tunnel visioning on it, and spending hundreds of hours on making it look good, and then looking out of place compared to other objects due to the extreme detail.
Basically 1.0 had people highly specialized in their areas, but very little communication between them
I also like how out of all the people presenting Yoshi-p was the only one to actually get a chant. Just shows he's our own personal rockstar.
@ MrKusakabe, kind of an ignorant comment you have made..
It is because of his vision that this game was turned around for the good.
Sure the designers, writers, etc.. contribute alot but Yoshi is the face of the game and does work hard as well. Every game needs direction.
We have seen what games turn out as without it, like say Anthem for example.
Besides i know some people that work for Yoshi believe me or not i only know what they have told me, and Yoshi is not lazy
Not saying decisions made have been perfect but still
I love that people were chanting Yoshi P and reacting to the trailer. It also seemed more genuine than the obvious Bethesda shills
Honestly, his post is bait .
Ignore it, a person with common sense will know the Producer and Director does a lot.
He says he rather have people that create the good ingame content...and he saw him at E3.
There is a reason why FFXIV is so successful. It not him alone that makes everything great but he's one of the biggest reasons and as the Producer and Director(normally its two different people but he's taking on both)
He deserves praise.
Out of all the SE ppl that appeared,Yoshi P didnt just appear like a boss on stage but he was also humble and confident and loud,i loved it!
You can only look to other games what happens when the Director or the people in charge of what the developers is supposed to do fails at their job.
Anthem, was a complete mess as the various developers had no clue what they were even making until that last 12-16months.
You can have all the best skilled developers, but without people in charge telling them exactly what they want, the developers can run around like headless chickens.
Yoshida was thrust into his 2 BIG positions, Director AND Producer. The guy barely gets any sleep, and he works long into the night looking over what the developers has done to see if anything needs changes. HECK the guy even worked during Japans Golden Week, checking how the game even looks graphically on 12 different monitors so the game looked good no matter what the monitor brand and standard settings etc.
Naoki is also really down to earth, loveable, humble and honest, which I cannot say for any other developer or lead director in this gaming industry. He clearly loves us, his game. And we love him in return as he should be the standard of how a Director/Producer should be like.
Just look at how different the leaders at blizzard act during Blizzcon vs Yoshida and his team behaves in FanFest. Or even look at Blizzards Live Q&A vs XIVs Liveletters. When I look at Ion and Lore, I do not like their attitude or aura or whatever. It just makes me not believe them as they have zero enthusiam for their game.
YOSHI-P YOSHI-P YOSHI-P YOSHI-P YOSHI-P YOSHI-P :D
Also, might I remind people how Yoshi literally cried on stage because he felt badly about how the launch FFXIV:ARR was rocky for the first couple of weeks.
And then compare that to Bethesda with fallout 76.
