Ahah brilliant :D
SONOFABI- wait.
That's not an uncommon thing to happen in fantasy and doesn't really stand out too much as a meme.
Referenced or otherwise it melds naturally into the world and doesn't come across as an worn to rags 'joke'. Fury cooled.
Haha you've got to be kidding me. :D
dont blame him for taking a knee to the arrow!
I once took an arrow to the knee... until I realized I bloodied my knee and took the arrow with a bolt of action.
I think you'd have to be fairly oblivious to not take into account that this shows up repeatedly and only too shortly after its origination in a game that came out whilst this patch was in development.
It's pretty obvious that its a tribute to the insipid Arrow in the knee meme, much to my disliking.
Let's talk about that FABULOUS investigator in Ul'dah (Ring of Deceit quest).
I'm still laughing.
If you like that investigator NPC, you should do the other Inn quests, he's in all three. :`
Lighten up, this is hilarious XD
I used to be able to cast while moving, but then i took an arrow to the knee.
Whats that supposed to mean anyways? I never even heard of this meme before? D:
A generic guard in unnamed RPG will start a conversation with the player, "i used to be an adventurer like you once, then I took an arrow to the knee." The generic guard is in every city, multiple times, and during the course of 60+ hours, it's one of two lines that don't change as the adventure unfolds.
Maybe, but in 3 years, no one will notice. I hope.
It was funny the first few times I heard it. But hearing the same joke, over and over, with the same unwarranted vigor, the same overblown enthusiasm, has gotten a little old. Much like every other 'so funnah ex dee' meme sense the dancing CG baby.
This is awesome and lulsy.. if it makes you rage then your brain is wrong and sad! :D
p.s. I have a feeling that investigator guy is going to have to do something with the future player housing in FFXIV...
i loved this little bit of reference though i have not played skyrim myself. so fitting! arrow <--archer--> bard yes, yes?
also there's a ffiv reference in the bard quest line. love these random apropos references se seems so fond of :)
I have really liked the nods to pop culture hidden in the game. One of my favorites is the leve quest from Limsa called "Save the Lettuce, Save the World." There's also a quest in the main Gridania storyline with a Star Wars reference from A New Hope.
My Anima took an arrow to the knee doing these quests.
Pfft lame meme is lame.
I traded in my copy of Skyrim for FFXIV Collector's Edition.
Yeah, I've noticed a lot of references to stuff like this. The Ul'dah GC quest has a Game of Thrones reference in it, and from what someone mentioned about one of the LL GC quests there may be another GoT one there too. I still remember a couple from FFXI.
I just hope it doesn't get as bad as WoW where we start getting parody characters in the main lore.
Even after reading this thread, I was caught off guard in-game by the posted conversation and did the chuckle.
Played out unfunny phrase is played out.
Id prefer they leave the TV and movie crap out of this game. Its pretty lame.
Biggs and Wedge were great as humorous characters, and I find this Inspector Hildibrand guy from the inn quests to be very amusing too.
Chocolina from FF13-2 is a good example of how NOT to do a "humorous" character EVER AGAIN. She's the Jar Jar Binks of Final Fantasy and easily the worst thing about FF13-2 so far (I'm 10 hours in.) Actually, her being the worst thing in the game shows how good the rest of the game is so far...
