Lets talk about how much we love to miss or anything that is on your mind (class specific equipment, our current playstyle, etc).
Got a tip on how to stop us missing 1/3 of the time? I'm dying to know then.

Slap on some accuracy rings and shove some tuna kabobs down your mouth.
Duly noted about the tuna kabobs part.
It doesn't help, I'm fairly sick of missing.
I need to give my MRD more love, it was my starting class, but I have been focusing on GLD more recently; mostly because I started to find MRD boring.
Actually, is there somewhere a comprehensive list of foods/drinks, class/race compatibility, what they do, etc?
Yeah, my char keeps getting his ass kicked even by blue marked enemies because he cant hit them so sad.
It won't keep you from missing, but as long as it increases your chances of hitting more often, why not?
Heh, equip Feint (LNC) and use It. Pretty nice damage combined with Ferocity.
(Seriously, for those who don't know It, you can use Feint right after you miss or mob evades, this skill never misses, 500TP, a few seconds of recast)
For those looking for a food chart guide:

I also wanted to give Feint a shot from LNC, but I wasn't sure if I would put it alongside Skull Sunder or just replace it altogether...
Just know Marauder is primarily a AOE Tank/ Maim De-Buffer.
ARRRR i be a pirate 'ere and i jus be pokin my axe at em GRAARRRRRRRRRblyns but they be evadin me left and rite! It be a fruteratin day!
Nah seriously I never really miss. get a +1 axe for your level and decent gear and you should be fine :]
Acc rings, kabobs, feint.
MDR is a off tank class, aswell as mild DD. I have LNC and GLD 8-9 levels below my MDR (which is my main) to keep a nice variety of moves I can use.
Warmonger, Taunt, Provoke are all vitally important imo. I generally don't ever run out of TP and just spam skull sunder (if the mob requires it), popping feint whenever I miss.
Don't forget foresight, pop it before you provoke, generally i find 7/10 times the I can pop Fracture the second a mob turns its attention to me (and get's parried).
I used to have LNC as my main but switched to MDR over a broader variety of moves, survivability and generally more awesome moves, even the default critical hit animation for MDR looks more aggressive/painful than the lnc's poncy poke.
Everytime I miss with Ferocity > Bloodbath > Maim I die a little inside. I have my Dex as high as my Str, not sure how much difference it makes, I also use two +5 Dex rings. I can't help thinking though about FFXI rule that 2 Dex = 1 Acc and I might be better off just using Silver Rings.
Yes, Silver Rings give more accuracy than Dexterity Rings.
Disorient. Honestly all Marauders should start every fight with it. It reduces evasion and adds enmity. AND it stacks. Against mobs like Raptors, having a stack of 3 Disorients is fantastic.
You guys might want to check out my Marauder guide over on Zam. You can find it HERE.
Honestly at 50, feint is worthless, maybe if they introduce a Feint II. As for Disorient, its semi trash. In an "end game" party if your fighting with a Lancer they should spam Comrade in Arms II as much as they can. If you pop Disorient II then you'll remove there debuff and decrease TP generation for all your party members.
Ever since the patch that increased general accuracy I did not have much trouble hitting anymore. But maybe that is because I was already past rank 40 when that happened, I am not sure.
However I do not worry too much about accuracy since I mainly use mrd as a tank. With the current set of NMs it is hands down the best tank in game. I am sure it will change once they revise the battle system. We will see what happens then.
I love playing Marauder on the NM Goblins and Dodore.
Broad Swing, Broad Swing, Broad Swing, Steadfast, Skull Sunder II, Brutal Swing II, Skull Sunder II, Brutal Swing II, Broad Swing... Eh, rinse and repeat.
I love seeing the yellow numbers rain.
This is interesting. You're a 50 Glad/50 Mar, so you obviously know what you're talking about. And Marauders have the largest HP pool available. But I was under the impression that Gladiators are the best NM tanks, since they get the widest array of aggro pulling and defensive abilities, and their shields significantly decrease the damage taken. Can you expand on why Marauders are the best tanks?
Im also a 50 Gla/Mrd. Mrd can hold hate much better than Gla, due to the fact that we can actually pull hate through our DD and have spike hate actions on the side. Not only that, alot of our actions increase enmity.
What Gla excels at is damage mitigation, due to shield and various other defensive abilities. Either way, both are great tanks and depending on if you need more damage given or less damage taken, you can choose either as your tank.
Thanks, Warby. Should have known that the guy who put together the Marauder guide would have some good info on Marauder tanking. ^^
I've been back-up tanking so far, but I may have to jack up my Vit and play around with primary tanking some. :D
Warby is totally right. The problem is that with the current set of NM (being pretty much the only end game content we currently have), damage mitigation is not really needed and that is why at the current state I believe mrd is better. Bear in mind I am talking about a mrd with the appropriate subs levelled, so with access to gld and pug skills. I am sure they have in store some new NMs where the extra durability of a gld will be key to the strat.
As we stand now here is a breakdown of the NMs:
Dodore: MRD rocks thanks to the combination of full swing + steadfast. It means that even though the debuff doesnt allow you to use your aggro skills, you can still keep all the adds on you by hitting them at the same time increasing your enmity generation.
The Goblin: MRD can solo tank the boss and the adds easily without ever loosing aggro. Very easy fight.
Mosshorn: Once again with all those adds, MRD is your best choice to hold them together.
Uraeus: I have tanked it on mrd but I believe GLD can perform better on this one.
Great Buffalo: MRD or GLD pretty much on the same level for this. The main issue I have found with this NM is the aggro reset move it does which is annoying for any tank regardless of its class.
Well, i play "DRK-style" with MRD. Using absorb spellls as MRD is helping alot with accuracy issues. Absorb ACC from one, EVA from next, ACC again from third (recast is still long even with the afinity trait so alternating is a good deal).
Also, absorb ATK and DEF often increase my WS damage by around 100 points.
But of course, i had to put points at mage attributes (which isn't bad at all) and use 4 darksilver rings for a better magic accuracy.
I saw so many people claiming DEX would save MRD...i started with 120 DEX...nowadays i have 82 DEX, 80 PIE and prefering much more as it is now.
I'd say full silver rings +1 (since they give you the most acc, cause you can wear all 4 of 'em) and seafood dishes give the most acc. I use Mugwort Carp, they are lvl 40 so difficult to get your hands on usually, but it's the best. Here is a list of some of the accuracy foods! I don't miss any more than all the other DoW classes do, I use a Vintage Bill, rank 50, with 130 Dex. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the response, Galadrios. Considering the beating our Glads took while fighting Mosshorn, I thought that fight would be best left to Glads. But between you and Warby, I feel kind of inspired to try my hand at tanking some more. So thanks!
I have found STR to effect my accuracy much more than DEX does. Wearing the +7 STR rings (Garnet) with a HQ E.bhuj, I find missing to be much less of a problem. I noticed a huge difference in TP generation on NMs, particularly Uraeus who tends to be a pain in my ass trying to get TP for Maim.
Stack strength, see what it does for you.
Edited to add: My base stats (STR/VIT/DEX) are 139/120/107, after gear 174/126/114.
A few things about Mrd
1. Str does not increase your acc. Ive done a through test on it by putting my stats at 174/min str/dex and slowly changing it to min/174 str/dex. My acc. was all but nonexistent with no dex and slowly got better the more dex I put in. I did notice harshly diminished returns after passing the 100+ dex mark so I just leave it hovering around there.
2. +Acc rings are your friend. For the same reason as point #1 adding more dex past 100 gives you minimal returns while the silver rings boost the stat directly.
3. To avoid the frustration of boosting up your 3000TP maim only to whiff I present a simple solution. Put Hawk Eye into your boost regimen.
Ferocity--> Raging Strike--> Bloodbath II (if I'm tanking and need HP)--> Hawk eye--> Maim
This is a devastating combo that not only greatly boosts your enimty but will hit extremely hard and rarely miss.
And if you aren't tanking it might be best to keep raging strike/ferocity/bloodbath off the list because that many boost in a row will almost always piss the mob off. Keep your tank happy.
Also keep in mind that this regimen can be used with storms path as well, hawk eye will boost it's accuracy toward all mobs within it's range, letting you nail nearly all of them for massive total damage. Watch the yellow numbers rain, BIG yellow numbers.
4. If you are still paranoid about missing and don't want to waste Hawk Eye on something less significant like skull sunder consider sticking skill precision (glad) onto your skillbar. I haven't been able to throughly test It's effect on my acc. but hey, its something extra if you have room for it. I'll let Warby comment on that skill with his Glad experience, I just don't know enough about it.
5. Acc. food is your friend. Bring it with you wherever you go and try to keep your elemental affinity attuned for it to give max results. Again, it's another item that boosts the acc. stat directly which can help push you over the edge in terms of acc. instead of trying to max dex and suffering the diminishing returns.
6. Another skill that can server to improve your effectiveness in battle (this goes for most classes actually) is one that is often overlooked and underused. Thm's Initiation skill can be extremely useful if you have an extra one that isn't too busy spamming heals and debuffs. All too often I see people trying to be Mrd/Drk and using absorb skills in battle. Either they sacrifice points into piety, or they don't and fail miserably at every absorb attempt. The simple solution is to let the Thm absorb for you, then transfer the boosted stats to you. Try asking a Thm to hit you with Def/Acc (tanking) or Att/Acc buffs the next chance you get. You wont be disappointed I assure you.
7. With all these skills I've found my accuracy issues to be a thing of the past, Think about it.
With 100dex, +acc rings, +acc food, Hawk Eye, Disorient II, steadfast, Skill precision and the 4-7/8 person Party boost
you shouldn't be missing much either.
8. Another path you can consider would be leveling Thm and Con to at least rank 20. You will gain the use of cureII/sac II which can supplement Second Wind and bloodbath if you are in a pinch and need some hp. Just don't put stats into mind to try and boost your healing ability, it's a total waste. Mrd has piss poor magic skills to begin with so you would basically be multiplying 0 by some other number. But they still both generally heal for 250 each with regen as a bonus for Sacrifice.
Additionally, while leveling the magic classes you can farm their leves for guild marks and buy yourself the stat modification traits Complete Control I and II, Driven by Faith I and II and Will to Power I and II which add a combined 15 points into dex/vit/str each and respectively.
9. Marauder owns hardcore and should be worshiped by Eorzea as a whole. (Actually I've just run out of things to say at the moment but feel free to add any other ideas you've come up with, I'll add to this later if I think of any other tricks/tips I've come up with)
Yarr Marauders Yohoho and all that.
Yeah I recently started playing MRD its pretty neat. It seems like if I am not missing I am crit hitting. My fights seem to be like 1/4 missing 2/4 crits 1/4 normal hit. Also having Feint is pretty awesome but the only problem with it is that the animation is a poke and it looks really really strange to poke with an axe.
Also lalafell with an axe is hilarious. Well here is hoping when they release the class adjustment update MRD gets something good.
Edit: Also I never ever seem to get Disorient to work. It just takes my stamina and does nothing.
Yeah, for some reason, Lals with their tiny little axes always make me giggle. When you pop it and it doesn't do anything, that means it didn't stick or the enemy resisted it. I'm not sure whether that's a bug or working as intended, but it takes some getting used to.Quote:

Kokoroon's Body
4 brass rings + mithryl choker (best solution)
Conquistador Elmo
Engraved Bhuj +3
Then Piety 122 and doing a great DRK :P
I don't miss, i do very big physical damages and absorb stats from the mob. I found it's awesome!
I've been using Stuffed Cabbage to help with my Acc with some success - it's expensive to buy though.
