Personally, I don't have a problem with people selling clears/etc for GIL, however, I DO have a problem with them being listed under the "Roulette" section and not under the "Other" section, where they belong.
I don't think it's allowed, ofc i could be wrong.
They advertise in the duty roulette section cause it appears at the top of the party finder if that’s part of the question.
But yea technically you can’t mislead people in party finder, but it’s debatable if this qualifies for that cause they are clearly selling stuff, and I doubt it’s ever enforced.
If it was for real money not Gil then it would be insta banned but from what I know that’s not the case.
Personally it’s always sorta rubbed me the wrong way for a number of reasons, but idk don’t think there is much anyone can do
The issue is that SE doesn't take outside evidence into account. You could have full logs of them detailing the monetary transaction from that discord conversation, nailing it as RMT, and they will still disregard it because you can't 'prove' it's the players in question. Which in some ways I get. But at the same time their strict adherence to that rule often allows this kind of thing to slip through the cracks because so long as you don't admit it in game their hands are apparently tied.
1. They don't overtly say they are RMT, they don't say they are giving content carries/boosts for irl money/cash.
2. SE task force probably aren't equipped with tracking such things, it should be as simply as seeing 'this account cleared ultimate in under 20 pulls, this seems pretty sketchy, let's investigate' but I assume they don't have the actual systems to detect this suprise to suprise.
3. SE don't care, boosters or boosted account have never gotten banned, I genuinely haven't ever seen or known of a case in 3 years.
4. you can't track IPs reliably. VPNs or non-static ips aren't really bannable. It's naive to think boosters don't mask their ip.
It's sad really because WoW recently banned an entire guild of week first mythic players for boosting others and they slapped them all with 18 months - 2 year bans and the community loved them for it. We deal with the polar opposite.
Because square have their heads in the sand when it comes to this thing. They probably do believe they take it to discord where players discuss how much Gil they can pay for a clear. What else would they discuss? Ofc kind stranger ill happily leave you my wallet while I go away, how kind of you to offer to look after t for me. I know you'll never run off with it and steal my money. *eyeroll*
If players are trading services for Gil then it's generally ok as it's a currency (provided by SE) to use in-game, hence why you can trade it between players. Though if the players are expecting something else as payment (i.e. real money) then that isn't allowed, but as the negotiations generally take place outside the game such as in Discord, it's out of SE's hands.
I see this all the time and still don't get how this bothers people. Just ignore it lol
I honestly don't understand why selling clears for gil isn't bannable. (I understand these are probably RMT clears)
It's like seeing bots run around. It sours the game.
Every once in a while I see someone breaking the rules and it ruins the thing I love just a bit for me.
It's really too easy to put two and two together to know that if they're requiring transactions to be conducted outside of the game that there's real money involved.
With how overly protective SE tends to be of its players when enforcing the ToS (IE, refusing to offer details on why infractions are issued), you'd think they'd want to take steps to prevent people from potentially getting scammed out of real money from ads like this.
Legit or not, it's not something that belongs in the PF or XIV in general.
It completely devalues the rewards in my opinion. I've never once looked at someone with the titles/weapons from something like the Ultimates and thought "That's a top tier player", my first thought is always "I wonder how much that cost them", and I'm usually right on that hunch given I then proceed to watch most of them fail basic mechanics in even the simplest content...
It's really rather sad, actually... Such rewards are just a meme in my eyes now...
That Primal DC? That third listing is always up in Aether DC.
Account piloting and RMT are not allowed, but as has already been stated, SE will look the other way if specifics are not discussed in game, because not too many are doing it. Feel free to get in on the action until SE decides to issue a warning.
The people who actually buy into the prices these people tend to offer honestly have issues if they're willing to pay so much for ego bloating and a false sense of achievement.
I've seen them regularly expecting at least $100 dollars even for simple things like a clear of a savage raid. and close to a thousand for ultimate clears.
The saddest thing is that these people are under absolutely no obligation to actually go through with helping you get a clear once you pay them, yet people are still willing to risk forking over real money to complete strangers for the prestige of a fancy weapon and a title.
Why don't SE get a GM disguised as a player into each of these sellers to see if they sell it by gil or money? Is it that dificult to join their discord and catch them in the act?
Shouldn't it be enough that the account in game is advertising a RMT service? They might not be able to get them on actively RMTing, but they'd clearly be advertising a RMT service and that should be punishable, no?
Dumb question, I already know the answer, since RMT bots can sit there and shout all day long with seemingly nothing done about it.
Some of the most prominent Streamers / Community figures are active members of groups that participate in run selling and RMT lol. The storm that cracking down would spawn would be unimaginable.
