i'm excited to see the upcoming changes but on the other hand i'm feeling a little nervous. mostly from leaks and rumors (removing tank stances) and other things makes me think that SE is going down the path towards homogenizing classes. every job right now feels unique and distinct from eachother (even smn and sch). i am worried that they are going in a direction that would lead to jobs feeling too similar to eachother.

Nearly every idea at the moment of how the combat changes will turn out are basically memes.
RIFT had a bad case of this at one point, what with all the Spin2win, Pay2win memes surrounding the new class lol.
WoW has it all the time with the Ele Shaman memes.
Everquest II's become such a meme in it's own right that they have a case of Schrodinger's Meme where your guesses about class design can both be correct and incorrect at the same time. -

Have combos to speed up combats if needed. Also for those wanting slower combat, remember that not every class needs to be 1.0. by giving each class a different speed they will play differently and make the combat refreshing instead of relaying on mech to keep it interesting.Quote:

I think the one thing I'd want most is for them either remove or revamp infusions, because the cost/time required to amass those is disproportionately high for how short-lived their benefits are, especially compared to food.
WoW has similar consumables, but they at least mitigated the annoyance by limiting how many can be used in an encounter (Only one potion per encounter normally; two if you "pre-pot" and use one just before entering combat) and allowing them to be crafted much faster and in much larger quantities (A potion specialist can churn out over a dozen per craft every few seconds). -

One of which was a very convincing screenshot of the new Secret of the Lily tooltip, showing that lilies now apply a flat potency buff, and work similarly to Greased Lightning. -

I doubt any of the "leaks" are real, because as far as I understand everyone invited is a responsible journalist or youtuber that has signed an NDA. If they breach it they may not get invited again and possibly open themselves to other sorts of action. It's not even worth breaking because they are only being asked to wait a week and that has the benefit of giving them time to prepare videos and articles in advance.
They usually get most Jobs right but may mess up a few. Some of these may be salvagable like the issues with Warrior at the start of Stormblood for example, while others may require expansion-level changes like BRD in HW did to remove the bowmage stigma. Your Job probably won't be drastically altered if it's working fine and will get maybe 4 new actions if they continue the trend from Stormblood. It's worth having a backup Job in mind incase you don't like the changes.
Anything they change is intended to make it better rather than to mess it up, so just hope for the best. -

Come to think of it, aside from WAR, both DRK and PLD stance switching is extremely clunky and unsmooth to use. If they get rid of the stance and let the enmity combo generate threat just like when the stance is activated then I think it would be fine. -

Not to mention OTs that don't have/use Shirk. All this combined with PLD having to use a GCD to change to and from Oaths. If they just build in Shield Oath to the Job Stone and let Sword be a buff like Cleric Stance (5-10% to all damage, not just autos) then that would be an improvement, I think.Quote:
