Palace of the Dead/Heaven-on-High What next?

Going through the forums, there is so much talk going on about the upcoming job changes, the new races and jobs as well as the world visit system. But there is one thing I am curious bout that hasn't been brought up I believe. What is the next stage of PotD/HoH going to be like and when would we expect it to show it's face? Being how both have given us a lot of good items that is either usuable or can sell for quite a bit of gil as well as having some compellying story lore to it. Even a great means to leveling other jobs besides your main. I'm looking forward hearing more of the 3rd stage in these Deep Dungeons.

It would probably be someplace in "The First". Perhaps a metropolis of some sort that is filled with sin eaters where the goal is to get to the center and past story content takes place in a building that is in the center. The closer you get to the center the more blinding and powerful the light becomes.

They could try something new.

I liked PotD and I enjoyed HoH... but after running a few alt classes through there it's starting to wear thin. I'm not against the idea of HoH type content, but it'd be nice if they changed it up a bit more.

Mean actually going to completion for fun and profit right? I can not fathom how people go in there to level... give me dungeons exp any day XD
I also really liked them both and look forward to an additional deep dungeon (or high tower? XD).

I hope they mix up the formula a bit.

I'd love if there was more emphasis on exploration. Such as having to find clues a la Sastasha or find items and the thing that shows the order in which to place them a la Temple of Qarn.

As opposed to them being zerg fests where it's just sprint to the exit and blow up enemies on the way, with the only impediments being the occasional BS trap that will insta-kill you or render you literally useless.

HoH was even worse for the zerging thanks to its pomanders of petrification and magicites that literally let you clear entire floors in seconds... (PotD only really had the manticore pomanders and only on specific floors since early ones had succubi and later ones had kuribu)

I would like to see them reuse the coil assets and make a Trials of Bahamut where you explore the depths of the coil. Think FFXII great crystal with primals waiting for you at each of the 10th floors with even a random roaming super boss in the lower floors. Obviously keep it similar to HoH with the first 30 floors story mode and the next 70 for hardcore.

id like it if they made something that had every 10 floors being a reference to a different game. for example floor 70-80 could be the shinra building with the boss being the robot thing

I was just thinking. As we will be in The First and in The First the Crystal Tower seems to be there albeit different then our version in the Source world. If it isn't implemented in the MSQ, which just may be, what if this world's Crystal Tower could be a Deep Dungeon?

Next one should be ether underwater or in ice caverns. Maybe it just be huge maze with traps and dead ends everywhere. I want still see dungeon where set off a trap and have to run from huge rolling boulder coming at you.

The next deep dungeon will obviously go sideways to complete the pattern,

Jokes aside, with moving between shards being established we could go back to the void as part of a deep dungeon. Imagine a deep dungeon in the style of World of Darkness. You could even have the first set of floors start off moving through some strange structure that allows access to the void and have it get more and more otherworldly on each floor.

They should roll their next Eureka idea into their next PotD/HoH idea...

Instead of going lower and higher, we'll just go to the middle of the next place and stay there. Middle of the Dead On High.

Well, they've done down and up, so now the next logical step is "sideways". Meaning the next PotD series will most likely be "The Labyrinth".

Then a labyrinth, where is all squares, and the doors randomly shuffles into open and closed every random time 1 min to 30 min. So we can take any way, or try to wait a bit to try the closed door to find the final boss.

I would prefer a system that made FATEs relevant again, and made running the roulette not a daily thing but for 'leveling, expert, trial' - run it as often as desired for the same XP / time as PotD and HoH. And then have no new PotD or HoH.

I am honestly not sure if they should do another full palace. Of course it was fun but would it be really good for the game if they always had to add another Palace/Eureka/treasure map? This would just mean that it would be standard like dungeons and force them to work on it, which could mean that they have less time to try out new stuff.

I enjoyed both but at least the story in HoH already suffered in my opinion and I am not sure if we should get more. Maybe they could add to the existing ones?

C'mon guys, it's obvious that the next one is gonna be a labyrinth or tunnel. We went down, we went up, now we'll have to do it sideways.

No Chance of that. Stormblood is widely regarded as a pure Copy / Paste of Heavensward. Nothing is new. Eureka was just Diadam, HoH was just potd, every dungeon ever is basically the same as the last...

Most importantly add it on launch and add floors every patch, not let it die the moment the next patch hits >_>

A Deep Dungeon with hardcore roguelike systems. If you wipe, your character data is deleted from the game.

Could we please have objectives other than killing X monsters.

Like have 4 people stand on 4 buttons to open next floor, risk is you can move early but if someone Aggros or traps, uh oh.

Or have a tonberry that very slowly always knows where you are, coming to one shot you. So keep spatial awareness. Dodge it for x amount of time. It forcing you into rooms would be it’s main problem. Call back to wanderers palace.

Plus more. And with each new deep dungeon just add more of these mixed with old.

We could have something really fun. I saw a whole thread of this once. And people had amazing ideas

Something like this but have the platforms that you have to stand on in completely random areas around the map and hidden much like The Accursed Hoard is. This way people take their time on each floor instead of rushing.

As far as other ideas, maybe they can implement what they added in Eureka and have certain bosses/enemies capable of evolving into new creatures for bonus points.
Maybe have the occasional goblin to run in the map and leave after a period of time giving a bonus treasure if slain before that time.
What about implementing a Deep dungeon similar to that of Kingdom Heart II's Cavern of Rememberance? Where we face bosses of the past as well as special enemies? *cough*Sephiroth*cough*

So, Palace of the Dead went down. Heaven on High went up. Therefore, we must set our adventure sideways. Embark of the Expanse. Wade through glorious fields, dangerous yards and fantastic seas created entirely by desires, dreams and auracite. Ridding the location of the sources of these creations at it's center would be a probable goal.

But traveling sideways seems to be the next logical step.

Well, we've been down with the Palace of the Dead, and we've been up with the Heaven on High.

Logically the next step would be going sideways, outside would be nice too compared to both previous iterations being indoors.

Hmm. With the world traveling stuff, maybe "The Laboratory of Endless Dimensions."

Mad Scientist on the 1st who was trying to escape his dying world with some home brew dimensional travel machine ends up accidentally creating loads of mini-shards, something needed to switch the machine off before 'terrible consequences' happen got sucked in, the player and his party need to go in there and retrieve it.

Built in excuse for being outside but also for the maps being relatively small, they're artificial mini-shards, emphasis on mini. Islands of warped reality hanging in a void.

I think the Firsts Crystal Tower will be the new Deep Dongeon... But I'd rather they not do one and put that time toward something else. But that's just me. I normally have all the jobs I care about at max level before that thing comes out anyway.
