Unable to download patch or log in to Lodestone

Platform: PC

When attempting to download the patch today, one of two things happens:

First, the download goes a short way in, stops, then gives the following message
"The server is not responding.
For assistance with this issue, please visit the SQUARE ENIX Support Center.
https://sqex.to/x4w
[30413][10009][10019]"

Second, the download never commences and the following message displays:
"Unable to complete version check.
[30410][30607][10009][1019]"

Attempting to log in to Lodestone to report this issue to support results in one of three things happening:

First, the page times out when attempting to authenticate my token code.
Second, a site error page is displayed with a link to the main SE site.
Third, a select character screen appears claiming no characters are linked to my service account and prompts me to log out.

To resolve this issue I flushed my DNS, refreshed my IP, rebooted my modem and router, and attempted access with a VPN active. Nothing has fixed the issue, as it seems highly specific to the XIV game servers and the Lodestone site only. Everything else works perfectly fine.

I'm having the same issue, same error codes. I can't download the new patch or log in.

Edit: It finally worked while I just kept trying over and over again. I got to download the small patch and log in successfully.

Same! Can login , but when prompted to DL patch it stops mid way. error codes:

**UPDATE!**
I had just had to keep trying and it eventually went through. if the check Version hangs or takes too long, you will get the error.

Having the same issue on Windows 10. :-/

Same error as others. Tried several times with no luck. Lodestone has also died a few times. This was on win 10. I will try the ps4.

My husband and I are both also having this problem. Have tried several times, and will keep trying, but hoping this gets noticed and fixed ASAP.

Close FFXIV Launcher. Go to c:\windows\temp and delete everything. Afterward run FFXIV Launcher again and it will work. One of the error code links mentions deleting temp internet files. I started with windows temp files before moving to profile temp files, and it worked for me anyhow.

You must have gotten lucky, I've tried that and it didn't work.

Maybe it's temp files in your profile. Try c:\users\<user_name>\appdata\local\temp
also
C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache

I finally got logged in. Didn't have to do anything special, just keep trying. I suspect it's a problem with a lot of people trying to update and the hamsters are tired.

I know this is of no real help other than to build morale, but I was having the same problem. I just kept trying and eventually it installed the patch successfully. I didn't delete, re-install, or turn off anything special. Just kept typing in my password and hitting <Enter> until it worked. Good luck! :)

I'm having the same issue. Did SE screw up something on the backbone when updating? Because honestly I think this needs to be dealt with swiftly before this thread gets EVEN MORE populated or the Tech Support Forum being covered in this same issue with multiple threads.

Temporary internet files solution worked for me on Windows 10:

1. Close FFXIV launcher
2. Run disc cleanup, and select correct drive.
3. make sure temp internet files box is checked.
4. click OK.

After I relaunched the FFXIV launcher it updated and I'm now in-game.

Same problem here. It downloaded the patch, then corrupted my install, failed version check. I deleted my install files to try to force it to re-install, it installed 25 MBs, now it says server is not responding.

I restored the files, it started updating the patch, and stopped at 25 MB as well

Looks like something is shutting down my connection to the update server after 25 MBs every single time. Did they cap bandwidth by accident?

I have trying to connect to the game, multiple errors every time. It's not consistent. Sometimes it doesn't load the patch, others start downloading and stop downloading after few seconds. After many tries it downloaded but now simply did not loaded the Play button and got errors again. After 40 min trying many times, I am playing. Same is happening to my raid group, we are all in discord talking about the issue.:mad:

What did not work:
- Editing the .cfg to force a version check
- Deleting temporary Windows files
- Just retrying for 3 hours


What did work:
- Clearing system cache and internet history with CCleaner


The problem is now resolved, but that being said...

Please don't tell people to delete random files no matter how inert they may be if you're not sure of the cause and solution. Your "solutions" will not work because this is a SE issue, not a client issue. I presume that during the infrastructure update, something went hay-wire for certain conditions. It could be within certain IP blocks if they implemented anti-DDoS measures or it could have been accounts could not be accessed via whatever pipeline they have etc... No matter the case, it isn't on the client side and no amount of clearing temp files or flushing DNS cache will fix it (seriously this does nothing 99% of the time unless it's a TLD/SSL/etc.. issue).

I say don't tell people to do random things because they will likely screw something up and make things worse.
