Servers full locked AGAIN!!! Gilgamesh / Cactuar / Balmung

This is getting ridiculous.

Why did we waste all of this time reorganizing the servers and then pull this less than one month later?

Free Companies on these servers are not going to bother advertising for Final Fantasy XIV any more if you keep locking the servers before an expansion. I've had 10 separate advertising projects prepared to pick up our WoW players. Everything was aligned. Now this. This was a waste of time.

Make Free Companies Cross-World Membership if you can't get this fixed!!

Word of mouth is how you get a successful brand.

And no, they're not gonna settle for another server if players can't join their friends in the same guild. If this was your plan to fix things, you wasted a lot of money and insulted your community with a gimmick.

The servers are locked again because people insist on moving to them and staying there.
If you play on one of the most populated servers in the game, then you should know by now that it will get locked from time to time.
You even got free transfers recently if you wanted to move to some less overpopulated server.

The recent reorganizing of the data centers had nothing at all to do with certain servers being full, but was to reduce the load on the instance servers in preparation for the upcoming expansion.

"Locked" and "Congested" are two COMPLETELY different things!

Locked means you have to wait until people leave or log off.
Congested means full stop, nobody allows, server is dead to new blood.

We have fought this over, and over, AND OVER again. Every time a server goes congested, the FC communities severely suffer, new blood is lost, and we have to wait a year until the server dies before it gets reopened again.

Either you want people's money, or you don't.

Options are move the FC to a world that's not full, or just don't be in the same FC as all of your friends but you can still do all battle content with them and chat by cross-world linkshell. They don't lock worlds to annoy people, it's just battling against physical laws that say one world/server can't have infinite capacity. It wouldn't be worth leaving a world permanently open and unrestricted because they have to provide a service which wouldn't be possible if they allow players to crash the server and bring the game offline.

I've suggested that they need to make FCs cross-server to prevent throttling their memberships.

I'm not here looking for advice on moving my community where I have single-handledly brought in 3,000+ members into my FC over 6 years, either active or inactive. Me moving my active members does not change the fact that every single person has to pay a transfer fee to go if they're not in the FC with the 512 limit. 3,000 accounts, only 512 would move.

There is a problem and it needs to be changed. That's what this forum is about.

Yes, I know what Congested means. But since you are the one who started referring to the servers as "Locked" - in the very title of the thread - I thought it only polite to keep using the same term as you did when referring to the servers status.

So why do you insist on staying on one of the most populated servers then? If you try to attract more players to an already full server, well that will only cause it to become Congested sooner rather than later.

That sounds beyond the scope of an FC if you're inviting many thousands of people and still want more growth. You're free to ask for changes, just my two cents that sounds like a very unusual case and I don't think what S-E is intending for that system.

Why do you insist on putting your two cents into a discussion that doesn't affect you in any way? You're not even on the same continent. And, surprise, your server is in normal status.

I have brought in 3,000+ subscriptions into Final Fantasy XIV. 3,046 to be exact. I am looking out for my members who are inactive due to death, disability, or other situations outside of their control. It would be pretty damn horrible for them to come back and have to pay a transfer fee because they needed extended time away from the game and had to pay more money just to stay with their friends.

I have not had a lapse of subscription for even a month in six years. The least they can do is offer a Free Company cross-server system to maintain my community's structure so we can even consider an FC transfer.

Because SE has not offered any realistic solution to move entire FCs from one server to another. Sure, there are individual transfers, but we've spent millions of gil on a FC house that we would lose and not be compensated for. Then there's the issue of our inactive members. Since FCs are limited to only 512 people, many of our members who go inactive have to be booted to make room for new members. We always welcome these players back, but if we move to another server, one, how are they going to know where we went, and two, is it really fair then to ask them to pay for a server transfer just to rejoin us? Next, we come to the issue that all servers are not equal. The economies are different across the various servers. As one of the most active FCs on our data center, we've put a lot of work and time into the economy here. Why should we have to give that up because SE is mismanaging their game?

Well, here are the issues with your options. 1) There is no way to move an FC across worlds. You can do individual transfers, but it's not fair to as 3000+ people to pay to transfer servers. We would also lose the house we spent millions of gil on with little to no change of finding another plot to move to. 2) Cross-world linkshells are VERY limited to only 64 people. This does not work for an FC that is constantly at max player count.

I get that worlds need to be locked, but SE is actively not working on offering realistic solutions to large FCs like ours.

Probably because you could use a voice of reason. Their server status has nothing to do with it.

While I understand the issue of having larger FCs isolated away from friends who want to play the game and join, I don't think acting angry and demanding on their forums is going to help. Right now, the world visit makes it easier to play with friends on other servers from the same data center. So it is an issue they are addressing, they just can't implement an instant fix.

It doesn't matter how many subs you think you brought in. There are technical barriers in the way and I don't think you understand that. The fact they even were able to implement a World Visit to help the servers was a good thing. They won't do something just because, YOU think you are more important than their own physical server limitations at the moment. Some things just aren't possible. You are the result of your own consequence.

This would be an acceptable answer if this wasn't the SECOND time that this has happened. They learned nothing from when they did this before SB launched.

You acting all smug and holier-than-thou isn't helping any. The fact is we aren't the only FC that has this issue. AND it's the SECOND time they've let this happen! The same thing happened before SB and our FC suffered because of it. Now they are just proving that they have done NOTHING to alleviate the problem!

You not finding other workable solutions and yelling on the forums also isnt helping is it?

This is nothing new. Find the work around until square manages to alleviate issues caused by its own players, or don't.

They implemented World Visit as an attempt at a problem solution. It's not perfect, but given their hamsters for servers, its a good solution for now. It's up to you to do the best you can now. It's not like Gilga was ever a low pop server....

Honestly not surprised Balmung and Gilgamesh ended up congested. Never thought I'd see the day Cactuar was on there as well. I remember the days when we were a lower mid-pop server.

The literal point of the forums is to point out issues to SE. That is the goal here. There is an issue and we are reporting it. Yes, we're looking for work arounds, but none of them are solutions. They are band-aids (and poor ones at that). The World Visit was NOT an attempt at a problem solution, as it does nothing to alleviate population. It too is a band-aid, and one that is not working either. Not when it takes more than an hour to get back to home servers.

People are kind of misconstruing the problem in their anger. As an FC Officer on Gilgamesh, we experienced this at the Stormblood launch. It was horrible.

People on servers that are always open don't understand, because they have never experienced it, but a lack of new blood destroys a server. The vast majority of active players on a locked server, at any point in time, are logging on to cap their currency and then logging off, only coming back for their raid times. And even then, they are doing all of that in preformed groups, effectively isolated from the world. The world isn't alive. You don't see sprouts running around, doing crafting or dungeons or even FATEs (it happens from time to time). You don't see parties in PF asking for help on first clears of content most vets would have no reason to run, but might join on a whim if they are bored.

And, most important for a lot of us, you don't see people joining FCs. The servers stagnate and die a slow death without the constant flow of new players, it's just an observable fact.

Being on Gilgamesh for Stormblood sucked, because maybe a month after the launch the world was dead. I don't want to have to move my entire FC because SE lets that happen again. Saying "Well, you should have formed on another server!" is 100% victim blaming, and misses the point of why we are so upset about this.

EDIT: Somebody brought up another point. Our FC resources. Airships, Subs, fully discovered navigation charts? That's up to a year (50 weeks) of work to get back, not to mention an insane investment of gil if you make the best parts for them. Are we supposed to just eat that cost because SE had two years to figure out how to fix this issue and just sat on their hands?

Hmmm, The whole Cross-world membership on Free Companies would be nice actually, i'm not sure how SE could make that work, but it would be a welcoming feature none-the-less.

As for the server lock-down (My home of Gilgamesh) i am sorry to see this happened so suddenly, it's not fun for those who wanted to come on over to Greg's party, we actually have some friends as well from other servers who i guess won't be able to make the move as well. D:

As some one who has spent their entire FFXIV sub time with Balmung as a main server, I understand it's frustrating. I agree that there should be more changes in place to help Free Companies on congested servers. However, being as angry as the OP is just asking for SE to give a forum ban and delete the post.

Furthermore, while the problem isn't fixed, progress has been made. Friends of FC members can make characters on another Data Center server and visit the congested server to hang out and even do content like hunts and maps. While this isn't the perfect end state, it's still loads better than it was and a sign that SE is addressing the issue in time.

I honestly don't understand what your issue is. You claim to have brought over 3000 people to the game which means either most didn't stay or you branched into multiple FCs on your server at some point. If you already have multiple FCs, you've already solved you communication issues; either cross world linkshells or discord/ts3/etc or emails/3rd party forums, or something. Creating a sister FC on a different world in the same datacenter changes nothing for you that adding any other FC to your group would. With the server visit you can play together in open world and you can party together for all types of content in the game. Currently the only thing you would have trouble doing together is Eternal Bonding.

If you haven't branched to multiple FCs then do so. Discord will let you all keep in touch and isn't any more difficult to use than in game chat.

You literally have everything you need to do whatever it is you want to do; you're not being hindered in the slightest. The only thing your friends won't be able to do is brag that they're on Balmung.

The recent surge of increased RMT activity is likely a huge factor in this problem.

I've been regularly seeing over 200 gil farming bots on Cactuar alone as of late when there was normally less then 100 prior to the patch that introduced world travel.

They have locked Malboro server to which know is not full. Why they picked worlds to be preferred just to try create character there and find out there locked. Thought whole idea of preferred was have ones come to small worlds. If there going to lock them they need to add other preferred worlds. If these worlds have reach there limit then its from them being filled up with bots. Other day saw 15 bots in a inn with there legs sticking out of the ceiling or see bunch bots with there heads sticking out of the floor. They need to fix this so players that aren't bots can go to preferred worlds.

Malboro isn't congested, though. It's temporarily closed to character creation probably because there's a lot of people logged in/visiting right now. Famfrit and Goblin are also currently locked to character creation despite being preferred worlds. Happens sometimes.

Been trying for over hour to create character on Malboro server. keeps Showing when try to create one that there is only 2 open servers in crystal datacenter. Guess my other family member can try tomorrow to create a character on malboro.
