just giving a heads up it's here
Ya beat me to it :p
What I find most interesting is the ability to equip actions from two other classes instead of one. Looks like BLM and WHM won't be missing Chameleon.
It's interesting stuff for sure.
Hopefully we get more soon.
This... is going to be an awesome patch.
Oops, I guess WHM won't have Chameleon, hope they don't need it.
No Sentinel for Monk, Dragoon, Bard or Black Mage
No raising for DD-focused classes either! But it looks like everyone has a means to, at minimum, self-heal.
Edit: Now that we know that the cross-class abilities are limited, it's making sense how classes will be more useful in some situations.
This makes me happy in pants.
hmmmm this will make fights interesting now. and now people will have to decide which is best for certain situations.
Another interesting tidbit I noticed, hope this eases the fear that jobs will replace classes.Quote:
* Class-specific gear, which is also scheduled to be introduced in the future, cannot be equipped by job-switched characters.
That's true, maybe ifrit won't be a job fight then, how unfortunate.
hmmm... the jobs thing seems okay... gonna have to wait and try it out. I just hope SE starts pumping out more information about the patch and it hopefully comes out soon this week. Was hoping to get some playtime on the new update before spring break is over. :s
PLD using Curaga ^.^ Yes please.
Unless they nerf Hellfire, I'm thinking it might be best for DD's to go as classes since they need to be self-sufficient with heals and all.
Yea, I doubt they nerf Hellfire for job release. The jobs aren't being put into place for the primals to get easier. People will want to go on their newly acquired jobs against Ifrit, but I think alot of people will be dissappointed when they die from HF lol.
Or maybe the new setup for Ifrit will be PLD, 2x WHM, 5x BLM since all the BLMs could use Sanguine Rite w/ the damage reduction.
In regards to all the usefull skills that can currently be cross classed:
¤ No Sentinel for Monk, Dragoon, Bard or Black Mage
¤ No Second Wind for Paladin or Bard.
¤ No Featherfoot for Paladin or Bard.
¤ No Raise for Monk, Warrior, Dragoon or Blackmage
¤ No Sacred Prism for Monk, Warrior, Dragoon or Blackmage
¤ No Cure/Protect/Stoneskin for Monk, Warrior, Dragoon or Blackmage
¤ No Sanguine Rite for Paladin, Monk, Warrior, Dragoon or White Mage
¤ No Chameleon/Quelling Strike for Paladain, Warrior, or White Mage
¤ No Decoy for Paladain, Warrior, or White Mage
¤ No Invigorate for Paladain, Warrior, Bard, White Mage or Black Mage
¤ No Keen Flurry for Paladain, Warrior, Bard, White Mage or Black Mage
However, I am not sure about all skills of the secondary classes being equippable. On the tooltip, Cura and Curagae require CON. It will be usable by WHM but I am not sure if that limitation means a PLD can't use it.
I am confused about why the [dev1033] thread is dated 03-07-2011 03:30 AM ???
Just destroy all the Infernal Nails, it's really not hard at all and severely drops the damage done even without Sentinel or Sanguine Rite. 2 CNJs is more than enough to heal a tank and a party of melees and WHM's healing should be even better than that. The presumed increase in damage output from DD's should make it even easier to take down nails.
So BLM won't have all the elemental spells? ...
wonder if the future hold job only content for a challenge for once.
Still no reason to Gladiator EVER
probably not... due to this
I agree with Magnesium.... Im guessing they mean cross-classable abilities.... exclusive abilities are still exclusive. Curaga for a PLD... doubt it
My body is ready...
EDIT: This seems pretty interesting...

Changes to base parameters
When the player changes jobs, base parameters change automatically.
Remember we get JSE gear in this patch too, it might warrant using Jobs over Classes just for that gear.
All in all, losing lots of versitility (at the cost of improved dps, healing, tanking... hopefully) will make this game more fun to play because it might actually require people to be more thoughtful now. Frankly its been sorta lame that -everyone- can raise, or spot heal, etc.
Return of skillful play, here's hoping.
Yeah as nice as it was that everyone can heal/raise... it made being a healing class kinda pointless and lackluster almost. I like that the cross class skills will be limited a lot. I almost wish they would just make the jobs the classes in this game and get rid of the smaller ones lol. But that's another topic and a personal opinion!
I havent looked at the post waaaaaay back when that listed all the new actions for each job but maybe there is something in there for dmg reduction for the classes that can't use sentinel.
So far I am liking this tho, I hope we get info on the 2 new raids soon and also any new nm's open world or instanced. *crosses fingers*
We have to see how your damage changes on Paladin. If it drops like a stone then solo/small groups you will still want to be Gladiator.Quote:

I think this is interesting,
New sort of gameplay elements? Can't wait to see what it means.Quote:
and features a sequence of special quests available at certain levels that unlock systems, abilities, and job-specific equipment. The series of job quests will not involve extremely difficult tasks such as fighting primals. Rather, they will be new game elements intended to boost character growth and motivate players.
