Yoshida stating they're making WHM easier?

This is kind of throwing me for a loop. Apparently in the live letter, Yoshida mentioned that they're making WHM easier to play....I.....can anyone confirm this?
This just sounds ridiculous, and it's even worse coming off of his statement that he wants to focus on healer balance in 5.0.

i think healers are fine its a cheap excuse cause 5.0 has no healer job Stormblood and Shadowbringers 2 huge expansion and still no healer job in 2 years is..............

Let's make the easiest class easier for zero reason...

I hope so, too, but looking back at all the dumb stuff they did so far, I don't really have any hope left, and I want to shake some sense into anyone who tries to tell me to 'wait and see' over and over again...

When you see they don't want to release a new healer because of balancing issue (excuse), and the only thing we have is "make WHM easier", we can just be afraid of how they will handle the whole healer things.

My AST skillbar are full and i use 95% of it
My SCH skillbar are full and i use 95% of it

My WHM skilltbar are already empty and i use 10% of it but they want to make it even easier ? WoW i can't wait.

I missed the other stuff after the opening keynote but if that statement is accurate... Yeah I think whm is one of the least interesting jobs in the game because it's already too simplified. It doesn't have many abilities that interact with each other so it's just sort of bland. It's OK I guess if there's some demand for a very plain job with no complexity, we have other options we can use.

It's a tutorial/casual class before moving on to playing real Healers like Astro and Scholar. Stop playing White Mage.

Seriously, I wonder if there's any possibility that this was a translation error or something because... I mean I just don't get it. Maybe they didn't say WHM but healers in general? AST could definitely be made easier. I mean, literally any other job in the game could be made easier, just not WHM...

Let's hope this is just in regards to lilies or a new job gauge..... WHM can heal despite them, not because of them.

Might as well delete the class already. It is already braindead to play and they have no idea what to do with it.

Its simply the only healer you can access from lvl 1, so its becoming simpler to engage newer players to healing classes. Healing is one of the areas this game, along with tanking, where few players wish to play due to the demands on them to not only heal, but to duff, debuff and maintain adequate dps. Only few healers main the role, as with tanks, and it has been a problem for as long as I can remember, with me giving up healer maining during HW because I was fed up of all the arguing and toxicity over the best way to play the role.
Simplifying that specific job to allow more engagement is a good thing, as long as they dont dumb down the job too much. Adding a new healer wont serve this area as it would be until lvl 60 and with the new expansion.
When they have to add a trust system to new content to help with dungeon queue times for dps that says alot about player distribution into the relevant roles, maybe we should wait and see what they do in May live letter before we start yet another toxic arguing match with nothing but one comment from a live letter. With more and more WOW refugees coming over having an easier role job can surely be a good thing for the life of this MMO?

I kept wondering if this was a translation issue. I mean ok we can complain about devs being disconnected from healer needs but clearly WHM does not need to be easier, even they should know this.

Maybe he meant that competing with other healers is hard and that it should be easier? Or maybe they made changes to WHM and it's currently too hard to play in their test runs and want it to be simpler?

I want to believe that this is a communication error, and what the intent was that whm will be easier to play endgame content as, meaning it's more useful

I had another thought, didn't they say HP bars would now be above characters? Is this possibly what it was about too?

One could argue that WHM is the only real healer, because it seems to me that your definition of a real healer is one who can still do it while providing more DPS and raid utility. Two aspects that are more in line with a support role, not a healer.

If he said he wants to make AST or SCH easier, I would at least have a little bit of understanding, but WHM??????????????????

The most simplistic healer of all? I'm like what ever at this point. I heard somehow healing will go through an entire overhaul in 5.0. Hopefully it will be worth it.

This statement has come up for discussion in a few threads now. The best people have been able to come up with is an increase in WHM mobility and more ogcds. Between this weird idea of simplifying WHM, the "balance" excuse as the reason for no new healer, and the general statement that WHM is a pure healer that SE has put out time and time again I have to wonder whether the devs play this game at all - and if they do they clearly aren't playing as a healer. Any time a job that does (relatively) little dps, but can bring a skill (or many skills) that will increase the dps of other bigger dps jobs, of course that job will be wanted. The devs honestly just seem to bury their heads in the sand on this. The only way to fix this would be to increase dmg to the point where the WHM heal kit can get a real work out and that will likely make the game too hard.

Thats going to be difficult. I dont know how you can make WHM more braindead.

And, sadly, 「使いやすい」 tends to refer only to "easier to use" in the sense of making the processes by which to do whatever it is something does simpler or less requiring of effort, not in the sense of widening something's range of use or making it easier to fit into various compositions or types of fights through some change of capacity. That's a painfully out of touch goal, if Yoshida's (hopefully off-the-cuff) thoughts are echoed at all by his design team.

rlly how is white mage hard 2 play ... i mean rlly... i think I'm seeing their issue trying to make things Easyer not harder is why they cant fix any jobs

I can't image how they would make white mage easier to play, like aside from giving white mage mobility there is nothing else to make simpler. There's tons of powerful oCGD heals, powerful GCD heals, powerful single/aoe damage, powerful mana management, and none of it is gated behind skill. I can't begin to imagine what they will do to WHM this time.

Until the day they'll really prove me wrong and I'll be glad of it, I think the balance issue and the true "problems" in general with healing and healers will never ever be fixed as long as players just play the game and theses classes, and dev team having their unbreakable wall about all of this.

Sounds extremely pessimistic, but it's been too much time, there are hundred of thread on official forums and anywhere else on the internet that points the problem.

A proc from cure or cure 2 that provides a small amount of CDR.

Good in PVP (where it's also much stronger - 50% max CDR instead of 12% max), useless in pve where attacks are timed to certain cycles and cure/cure 2 are last resort spells.

They aren't, that's the problem with them.
Unless someone's dodging a mechanic with their face you can, and should, be doing most of your healing with your very abundant list of healing cooldowns.
Lilies reduce the timer on your cooldowns.
But in order to get lilies you have to use cure or cure 2, which you usually do not need to do thanks to how many healing cooldowns you have, and more importantly they use mp and prevent you from attacking.
So you never want to use cure/cure 2 unless you have to and therefore never generate lilies to do their job of reducing the cooldowns of your ogcd healing spells, which you're mostly using anyway since WHM healing is overkill so generating lilies would just make them overheal even more.
