How to not support genderlocked races.

Don't switch to them. Even if you wanted to be a Fem Viera or Male Hrothgar but don't support the race being female and male only don't switch to it. Don't make alt characters as the new races either.

You don't have to unsub, although that might be more impactful. (I doubt it) Just don't play the new races. Don't buy any more fantasias. Or buy one and switch to a race we already have. If 0 people support the new races then (maybe) they will release a statement that they will unlock them in a future expansion.

I get the feeling that Viera are going to be very popular so I wouldn't hold my breath on that working out

Also, continue posting Male Viera fanart and Female Hrothgar fanart. Do not let SE's ridiculous decision stifle anyone's creativity or original character building.

Considering that it's female Viera.. I'm having hard time seeing people not fantasia'ing into one.

I feel like that would only work if it was a successful organized act of protest. Otherwise it might just look to SE like there's no interest in the races, and then why would they invest in opening up the other gender for them?

A lot of people would but there are also a lot of people that might've but now won't. I considered joke-Fantasiaing one of my alts to a female Viera. That's one Fantasia to, one Fantasia back, repeat as many times as I feel like. Poof, revenue out the window now. I will definitely discourage any on-the-fencers I see around, too. And they can kiss my Mog Shop budget goodbye.

I don't kniw about you but I think Hrothgar will be unintentionally boycotted either way.

Why... would SE care if you all art things up or not? Oo Like you called them creativity, OCs! Fanart. If you like doing that sorta stuff, don't let no silly lack of one gender or the other slow you down. Really... (If I liked writing fanfiction, you'd you be damn sure no fan fest or crashing hype would stop me from doing it. Oo... I mean, they're going in the game, gender-locked or not. Not switching to them more likely would signal that they just weren't popular ideas at all, and would mostly be just to spite them and their dev time. Speaking here is more important and has more impact.

Also, if there's anything you'll ever learn in the gaming industry, it's that gamers are loud on forums, but have very little restraint in reality. To that end, there's no way people AREN'T gonna switch to Viera. Male or otherwise.

Switching anyway, as it'll be the first female race added in awhile without weird proportions or things that can clip. I don't even care for Viera personally, but it'll be a nice change.


Also, keeping all this in 1 thread shows much more massive support than 300 tiny topics that disappear 2 days later.

I don't feel this contributes to the issue either. We shouldn't compel the people who actually got what they wanted into the argument. The issue is deeper than just two races. It permeates pretty much everything SE does in FFXIV. Yoshi openly mocked the idea of him wearing the dancer attire. He openly said that the male devs weren't comfortable with the male bunny suit so they pawned it off to their female coworkers.

This issue has to do with how the developers focus more on what they want and are comfortable with than what their customers want. There's no adequate way to communicate and their excuse for why something isn't done is always "we're a small indie company please understand"

Even the Japan Fan Fest shows extreme preferential treatment with both the resources allocated to it over the other locations and how tickets were handled. I've pointed this stuff out for years but people are only now taking notice because it actually affects them now.

If you just sit by and continue giving a company money, they will assume that everything is fine and nothing will change.

If you are upset by a decision that the dev team makes, stop supporting them, vote with your wallet. By paying a subscription and purchasing the expansion, you are implicitly supporting all of the decisions that the dev team has made.

I was just thinking, there is already a lion mask in game (hw leveling set and arr pvp set). If you put that on a male roegadyn you have a hrothgar right now, minus new emotes. I would have been more excited about hrothgar if it had a unique body shape and not roe copy. I may just stay lala to enter those tiny dwarven homes.

In the lore or XIV, male Viera exist. If we take FFX for Hothgar, then the female exist too...

Not that I'm really surprised thinking about it, male bunny outfit wasn't in their liking after all.
