DANCER IS A DPS?

Seriously it makes complete sense in terms of what the job really is. But that means we are going without a new healer!
Its doubtful they\\'ll add a new job anytime soon after this and to me this is heartbreaking.

Looks like Geomancer will be a thing one day for healers after all. (As said by Astro Quest)

Geomancer is basically just WHM/AST squished together. That's not really anything new or valuable...

I thought they specifically mentioned trying to keep a balance between tank and healer numbers, but guess not.

Oh well, 4 years with no new healer toys. Apparently that balancing issue from Heavensward was worse than we thought.

6 years.

Another new expac with no new healers. It'll be 6 years by the time there's another chance of a healer being introduced.

Maybe a silver lining is we have adventurer in need bonus along with our near instant ques?

6 years now without a new healer seems excessive. I thought this was going to be the tank/healer expansion.

Everything was perfect until Dancer was announced as Ranged DPS.
I am so so so disappointed.
I hope the hammer character (or Minifillia) is our next healer for 5.0...

It's unlikely that Minfilia will be a healer. Presumably, she needs to be a DD so that if the player is a tank or healer there can still be a full trust party, since Thancred is GNB, Y'shtola is BLM, and Urianger is AST, at least if those are the four you start with before meeting up with more options.

Alphinaud and Alisaie were shown in the previous fan fest as a part of the Trust System.
So everything is possible.

yeah, I 'am sick of hearing AST is Time Mage + Gambler + Geomancer.

I'm still in denial about no new healers right now... ugh...

I'm holding out hope for a new healing job (not that I'm actually hopeful) but if not I want at least one entirely redesigned healer, kinda like the Bard treatment. If current jobs only get token upgrades I'm not sure why. What about healing that makes it so impossible to add new jobs? I won't be satisfied with any explanation but I at least want a full one, not some vague answer.

I guess we'll have more answer about that in May.
I wonder if healers will not be completely reworked, especially WHM and that it would be the reason for not introducing a 4th one.

Eh. "We're going to balance the healers!" was one of the excuses for not introducing a new healer in stormblood and surprise, surprise, SE still can't balance them. With or without a new healing class, don't expect things to change much...

"We're going to give back cleric stance as the original and nerf healing potency so healer will not dps too much.
We can't give you a new healer because of that."

I'd rather they just stop bothering with balance at this point or bring in outside help. In SB their answer to balance was to nerf SCH into the ground when the expansion dropped, to the point they had to buff them and then OVER buff them over the course of several patches. They don't know how to balance anything and if that's how things are going to continue to be I'd rather they just dive right in and embrace it by giving us a new healer at this point.

I'm just so damn frustrated. . .

Can I have hope for the WHM rework with a flood of light? That seems as good of excuse as any to get WHM some utility as we aren't getting a new healer.

Chakrams used to be a monk throwing weapon back in 1.0.
Dancer is the closest thing to Monk, look at Lyse!
Time travel expansion? Check.

It makes since that dancers are physical damage dealers and not healers, most just expected it to be a healer since it's weird they didn't release a tank and a healer at the same time. I don't see geomancers being a healer. I see it being like a BLM but instead of fire/ice, it will be Water/Wind as per the quest text with tornado's and flood and what not (we don't really have a class that uses much of water. BLU uses very little and WHM just has a single knock back) . They added a lot of new water animations after all. and they say in the AST story that they don't get along, that doesn't sound very co-healer.

I'm pretty bummed healers don't get a new class but it could just mean Range casters will get a new Class and Healers get theirs so they both have 4 as well.

I am very open-minded. I really am crushed with it not being a healer - I was one of the people speculating MNK Lyse was dancer from stormblood trailer. I agonized over it - but Yeah I am not going to be a salty beech over it. I can move on knowing that one day something new is bound to appear.

Honestly the joke Canadane made I had to upvote because that was pretty much what I was like back then LOL

As I already said over in general discussion, I’m very disappointed by DNC being revealed as a DPS. That was the one job I really wanted in a specific role. More notably, I wanted it as a healer to shut up the people who keep saying things like, “It can’t work as a healer!”. (Yeah, I’m spiteful like that) So much for that.

But what really hurts the most is the realization that DNC being a DPS means literally no new healer for those who main healers. And at this point, I’m very doubtful we’ll see a new healer before 5.0. And even if one came along as a surprise... well... it won’t be enough to mend my own mental wound about DNC being a DPS instead. (Unless said surprise healer somehow manages to really “wow!” me)

... Don’t get me wrong. I’ll still play DNC regardless. (Will very likely replace MNK as my go to physical DPS for sure) But it’s not going to see anywhere near as much attention from me now, since I primarily play as Tanks and Healers.

Long story short, I’m massively disappointed, and if I allow myself to rant in full detail about this, I’d get banned from this forum.

EDIT: This is extremely hopeful of me, and I shouldn't be even considering it given the way things went for this fanfest, but Songstress suddenly leaps to my mind for a potential healer. I'm getting too hopeful though.

time to boycott healing. I even joked with my fc mate who def going dancer that til the end of the game i will never cast a single heal on him ever again lol I might keep my word for a bit during the launch of xpac to mess with him

They would have to make like adventurer's in need and have to make healer separate with like 5 times the bonus xp, and 20 times the gil that you would normally get if there isn't a new healer.

I'm so disappointed...I'm totally fine with the Viera/Hrothgar races, they made the right call. But I can't comprehend why they thought no new healer class was a good idea.

I saw your sigs just now -- looks great by the way -- and it occurred to me that therein lies your answer. Astrologian is in fact a great healer in its own right... it may not necessarily need any more competition.

Queue times?

The NPC healer AI will be working overtime, that's true. But SE doesn't particularly need to care about queue times anymore. And they know it.

They will start caring if they don't add a POTD / HOH - esq place for dps for the 70+ range.

I am betting for the queue post rage in the future unless something like above is added.

My only real disappointment is that I saw DNC as a great opportunity to change up how healing is done in this game. Without knowing anything that has taken place at this fanfest other that what is being said here on the forums, I'm guessing that they at least attempted it during these last couple of years and couldn't make it work. They never obtained the same kind of balance with healers in SB the way they have with the tanks. As much as I love WHM, every time I play SCH or AST I am reminded how far behind it is. To toss in a fourth healer now just isn't plausible. WHM needs a lot of work, and I turn my hopes into this happening in 5.0.

… I did find the small preview of DNC, and over time I've been getting into the DPS role more and more with maxing out NIN, and now working on SAM. As it turns out, I think my love for dancing translated into just wanting Dancer in this game and I am very excited to add it to my DPS repetoire!

I'm pretty angry. That's as much as I believe I can say on this forum.

I'm so tired of waiting a new class for healers. My RAID group doesn't understand my disappointment, I don't care about dancer going range damage dealer but the healing scene need more options. I'm really thinking about leaving the game for the first time since I played in the beta 2.0 and that hurts a lot.

I'm also very sad that dancer turned out to be a ranged support DPS class. I am still going to play it though oh, it's going to be my main DPS class. Let's just hope they have at least one support healing skill like Red Mage. We really did need a new healer, the other three healers are just getting a bit stale. I've also been waiting 9 years for dancer to be released. It was one of my favorite classes in Final Fantasy 11 oh, I guess I just had too much hope that it would be a main healer. Maybe it will be more like a support healing buffing class like it was in ffxi (at least back when it was released, not sure about right now because I don't play the game anymore).

I'm sorry I added oh in my post a lot, I'm using my phone LOL.

My theory is that they planned to do one tank, healer and dps, but didn't have enough time for do all 3
(I still don't get why they never have time for anything but then again, I don't make games or know how to make them xD)

Remember that Yoshi-P after the launch of Heavensward says "never expect another expansion with 3 new jobs, to many work". I sense that Yoshi-P always planned to do only 2 jobs. And that's the thing that hurt most.

I also remember after stormblood was released that Yoshi-P promise in the next expansion we would get both a new tank and a new healer. I feel really let down.
