4.56 coming March 26th, are you excited?

What are you expecting the most from this patch?

Now I have to decide whether to watch the 5.0 trailer and presentation "live" on Saturday or go into Internet-lockdown until Tuesday... The patches are more enjoyable when I have no idea what's coming.

Expecting? An obvious set up for the story of the upcoming Shadowbringers expansion. And a possible solo or trial battle against Zenos.

Other then that, I don’t know what to expect. Personally, I’m more excited for the upcoming fan fest itself. Soon! The second new job we’re getting for Shadowbringers will finally show itself!

EDIT: But for the patch itself, the story is usually what I’m excited for. And outside of enjoying more Hildebrand, the story fully concluding for Stormblood is what I’m arguably most excited for.

I hope its a solo battle against Zenos. I was mad they made the fight a 4 player dungeon to where it was like you beat me one on one but I can beat you 4v1.

Yeah, but there's a Fan Fest before then! That's going to be exciting as it'll give out tons of details about ShB!

As far as 4.56 goes... I'm curious about the Beast Tribe quest. I wonder if we'll get anything cool from this one like when we got that facemask glamour from ARR. Also, it looks like J'ohlmyn and Alpa are relaxing in Sea of Clouds in the photo? (The terrain and airship in the background looks reminiscent of Sea of Clouds)

To be fair, I was mad when during the 2 encounters with Zenos during the leveling MSQ where it was a forced defeat, despite the fact that I didn't actually die when fighting him and was able to chip him down to 50% life before the game was like "Nope!" and forced the loss...

I think when it comes to beating him 4 on 1.

I'm pretty sure its a case of suspension of disbelief; this being an MMO you have to play with other people and it wasn't a MSQ mini boss you do solo.

So I think Lore wise, we beat him solo. Gameplay wise, we beat him 4v1.

I think the only time they actually mention taking our fellow adventurers was with Susanoo...for some reason.

It gets referenced more often than not, actually. There'll often be some reason for you to go and fetch some allies before you enter a dungeon.

When was this announced? I saw a FB post on 4.56 but it just said “soon”

Considering this patch that is coming is late March... One cannot get any more late than the 26th. (The typical times they throw out their patches are tues and the 26th is the last tuesday of the month.)

I kinda hope it is truly the end of Hildibrand (not killing him off, just end of the story! XD). I like him, but for ShB I'd prefer to see a new character for comic relief. Hildy felt so forcibly stretched the last couple patches

I'm expecting to get stuck behind item level even more. The next trial requirement for the MSQ needs 335, and I'm at 324, so more dungeon grinding or bleeding my bank dry by buying gear :(

If you have the Centerio Hunt stuff unlocked you can beat up on hunt marked baddies for points and that will easily get you to 340. (though it might take a bit of time.)

I'm so hoping for no dungeon or trial for the MSQ's last part, but I am expecting one all the same. Either way excited or not I'm waiting for mid April to hit it.

I don't think Mendacity tomes would be too hard to farm up at this point, actually. Probably better to focus on them with a combination of running Ridoranna to collect that i360 gear. I'd recommend finding some groups to help clear Deltascape and Sigmascape normal as well so you can get the mendacity weapons (need to clear O8N four times for the crystalloid needed for the trade item). You should also be getting a bit of Genesis tomes too to trade for solid i390 pieces. When you're geared up enough for it, I'd recommend tackling Orbonne (so you can start turning in coins for Genesis gear upgrade items) as well as Alphascape normal. It'll take a bit of time and effort if you want to take it that far, but once you get to the i380+ range you should have no problems on gear until a good few levels into the next expansion. Even with just the Mendacity/Lighthouse gear you should be able to handily get through the end of the MSQ up to the end of the content coming out next week. Don't forget the dungeon drops to tide you over, as well! Between all that, there should be no reason to bother with the i330/340 gear at this point, especially when you factor first time bonuses and such.

Ridoranna? (Google..) Raid, not in my duty finder. All I have is Rabanastre and Deletascape, and I haven't tried them, or any other raids yet.
I've only been playing about 35 days now, and I've pretty much done only MSQ stuff, and a few extra dungeons occasionally when I had to gear up more to continue the MSQ.. I'll be completely lost when all that ends.

I'm excited for the Beast tribes alliance. They're great. I wonder if we'll get to feed a fish to a Snake or Cirina.

I think Yoshida mentioned a Yojimbo trial as part of the Hildibrand story at one point in the past, but I could be wrong.

He actually said that the fanfest Yojimbo fight contained spoilers for Hildibrand, which heavily IMPLIED that it was part of the story, but not outright confirming it.

I would love to have an alternate path to get higher ilvl accessories again.

I never see it getting brought up but as I seem to recall we have yet to receive that Yojimbo fight from one of the events they had. So chances are they'll combine the two? It'll be our new proto ultima torso and accessories, but perhaps something more eastern themed this time around. Possibly even an actual kimono as a send off from SB, or themed after Yojimbo.

That's the same Yojimbo fight we are talking about. It has been available as a Trial challenge at both the NA and (I believe) EU Fan Festivals, with Yoshida specifically remarking at the NA fanfest that the fight contained spoilers for the end of Hildibrand's SB story. As for new accessories being tied to it via weekly quest, I am in the camp for having that happen :p

Given where we were left with MSQ last, I'm expecting a really rushed resolution to explain how we get from where we are to the new expansion. This in-between story hasn't seemed to flow nearly as well as either the HW leadup or the SB leadup.

More interested in allied beast tribes

Ananta glam?
Namazu costume?
Tenzen gear from kojin?

If i remember correctly, Tenzen's gear is the same gear from the ffxi crossover event with Iroha, so I think it less likely they would reward it through the beast tribe quests.

Yoshi-P specifically said in a recent interview that there wouldn't be anything like the Proto Ultima quest as that was a one-time only thing, so don't count on it.

If we added a proto ultima type of element, players will feel the need and be forced to do it, so i told them they don't have to add it."

That's sad, but we must accept it I guess

With this being the conclusion of the 4.X story the MSQ is definitely the most exciting part. I'll be looking forward to the beast tribe quests and Hildibrand too for sure, but that's more like the icing rather than the cake.

I also think the tome cap will be raised to 900, which will help be gear all my jobs for the expansion finally.

I'm ready for a couple hours of content, but it is a couple hours of vital storyline content.

I'll take it.

Highly doubt there will be accessories for Yojimbo this time. We prolly might get some kind of glamour, minion, or both, as rewards though.

I'm still holding out hope that SOMETHING in Stormblood has to reward the Kugane townie kimono. It has models for all existing races and genders, even Hildy wears it at one point... the only thing missing is it being a playable item ._.

If we don't get it from either allied beast tribes or Hildibrand, I'll cry.

- the Hildibrandt Trial
- Elidibus in Zenos body will be the new steps of faith
- finally get clear about "the voice"
- get some info about Zenos spirit, that is currently in another body

I hope this Hildibrand trial is worth the pain it was to complete these quests.
I could not approach it during the Paris Fan Fest :(

I hope hildabrand rewards us with both the dance emotes shown in it >_<

for reference the one at end of each part on 'stage' and the one where hildy is in a kimono are the dances i want also was surprised valitones day event didn't give the make a heart with your hands style emote but hey ho more unique animations for hildy i guess :P

And hope story is good for everything not just msq

Elezenos is at Ghimlyt, so that's almost certainly going to come to a head. Hopefully the duel, regardless of who it's with, is a solo instance. Closing out StB by finally having a one-on-one fight with Zenos and/or Elidibus feels appropriate.
