Not sure what to do now.

Not sure how to word this. The long and the short is 5 years ago I added a PSN account to my SE account. I sold that ps4 to Gamestop because I never really played it.
Cut to now and I have bought another ps4 because Spiderman, God of War etc. Anyway the other day I had the brilliant idea to buy ps4 complete edition so that I didn\\'t have to buy a laptop so that I could play with my FC when I\\'m not at home. The problem is I forgot all the information about that old ps4. I don\\'t remember what my old psn account was. Now I stupidly used the code on my new psn accout. Not a big deal. The issue I have now is that I cannot use my new account on my current SE account. It just doesn\\'t work. So I called customer service. They told me to call Sony. And Sony told me to call SE. I\\'ve spent 4 hours getting nowhere. When I Googled it I saw a reddit post about a guy who got his account unlinked. So here I am. With a ps4 copy paper weight and a headache. 4 hours of time I can never get back. SE your customer service is awful. I know it\\'s my fault for not remembering my information but it would\\'ve killed them to give me some bread crumbs. Rant over.

Also why did it do // to my apostrophes?

1. Escalation: "I would like to speak to your supervisor". or "I would like you to escalate this to the next level".
2. When two companies give you the "back and forth" you get them both on the line and tell them to work it out. This can be tough but it can be worth it.
3. Demand your money back.

Did you write this on your phone? My phone has this happen to it too, pretty annoying lol. Also some special characters will get changed to some good base code fun %26ue "You wot?".

I tried to help with two google searches.. what I read didn't look great.. some people seem to found some solutions but it seemed a bit scary:

It would be nice if SE could somehow better empower their team, from what I know a lot of it just has to do with the people handling the cases don't really have the options/power for what you want them to do.

Also once you've tried again with whatever you can - perhaps try a different contact method than one you've already tried. Occasionally you get that overly confident new customer service person and you really needed the been there a while taking it casual person lol (talking in general, not specifically FF/SE).

Wish you luck, hope you can get your progress back :). Also it would be great if someone who uses a PS4 might be able to add more to this, unfortunately I'm PC only so I can't add more.

Honestly at this point I'm not sure what to do. I've called both multiple times. Both have failed me. Though the Sony support was like a million times better. I just feel defeated and lost. Part of me wants to quit this game out of principle, but I don't want to abandon my friends and the new people I like to help along the way. I'm just beyond frustrated. I'm not even mad anymore I'm just dissatisfied and disappointed. All I was gonna do was upgrade my ps4 account since I haven't used it in 5 years. It's not even the money at this point who cares.

Did you try posting in Technical Support? Your post is probably more likely to get noticed by a GM there.

I wanted to but I didn't see anything pertaining to account issues. Only technical ones unless I missed something. But to be honest I don't think it's gonna be of much help. They already pretty much wrote me off.

I'm part of a FFXIV community on PS4 and a few members have had this same issue with the only difference being they wanted a new square account linked to their current PSN. You seem to want to link an old square account to a new PSN. From what I remember of what those members said, when unlinking the accounts, Square Enix deletes the square account that is linked and attaches a new one to the psn account. So I don't think they can actually help you since you are using a new PSN. I could be remembering wrong, currently asking one of them for details. not sure if/when they'll respond though.

So he says he doesn't remember too much but thinks they should still be able to help you. He said to contact square enix support. It only took him a few mins to have everything dealt with when he had the same issue. There's a phone number listed somewhere on their site. Perhaps you should mention unlinking the accounts to them yourself? Hope it works out for you.

Do you have anything important tied to that SE account? There is a form you can fill out to get SE/PSN to unlink the accounts but it destroys that SE account in the process. IF you don't need that old SE account just create a new one. Did you have the full ARR game on the old account?

While it's unfortunate in your case, overall it's probably a good sign of data security if they won't give you "breadcrumbs" to regain access to your forgotten account.

If you can get breadcrumbs, so can the hypothetical hacker trying to trick customer support into giving them your account data.

I was on the phone with both of them multiple times. They cannot solve the issue.

The thing is it's my account. I understand the security issue involved. I'll give them all the information they want to prove it's me. All I need is the account name. Then I can call Sony and they can send me a password reset to whatever email it is. I have 3 accounts on my ps4 and not one of them works. Trust me this is driving my nuts. I don't even remember making 3 accounts but I did apperently. I remember I made one account to download Japanese demos and etc. It just annoys me because you know they know that information. It has to be stored somewhere.

Seriously if they give me the psn name I can call Sony and get the account back. Buy Stormblood for the ps4 AGAIN. And finally be done. Hell I'm still willing to give SE money at this point even though I'm frustrated by this issue. If it where any other game I would've just stopped giving them my money based on their piss pore customer service.

Maybe try to gain access to your old account.
Or just fk it all, and buy a PC you will be far better of with it, just dont play the game on steam download the game on its own. :P
You could easily get controller working on PC the same way it is on PS4.
Its a expensive option but worth it, think about those 90+ fps you could get on max settings. You could sell PSN account and ps4 to someone interested in ffxiv.

Do you at least have access to the email associated with the account? Could possibly still recover it

I have a pc. The purpose of the ps4 version was so that if I wasn't at home I could still play with my friends. I just don't want to buy a laptop not because I'm cheap it's just I'm only gonna use the ps4 route when I have to. So if I bought a laptop it would just sit and collect dust.

That's the thing I probably do but I don't know what it is. And they(SE) wont give you that information. I've tried every email I have with Sony and I have recovered 3 accounts. But when I load up FFXIV on my ps4 it says to login with the correct psn account.

When I first tried to play FF14 on my PS4, I had mucked up my log in info when I was linking my SE account to my PSN account. This meant the log in ID was perminatley locked to the wrong thing and I was not able to do anything. After running around in circles with customer support and the FAQ, I discovered that when you are trying to submit a ticket, there is a client that allows you to have a live chat window with a CS rep. What I found out is that this is 100% a SE issue and they can edit/remote/attach accounts, without the need of involving Sony.

It is annoying as hell that linking a PSN ID to a SE, can so easily turn into a utter cluster-fudge.

You probably have to make the certain PSN account your "main account" you could find it somewhere in the ps4 settings. And then try to log in after you change it.
Is sounds weird but it may matters which account is main on the console.

I had the same issue. I'm "new" to FF XIV, started a week ago, but I did try it back in the ps3 days. I got lucky and tried the trial edition before I bought the game though, but it wouldn't even let me boot up the game on my ps4.
Contacted SE and, like you, they told me to contact Sony. Contacted Sony, and they told me to contact SE.

The solution I came up with was to create a new email address, set up a separate psn account, then used that to purchase and play the game with no issue. It sucks that the game isn't on my main account, but the game is completely worth it, in my opinion. Couldn't get out of the run around loop, so came up with my own solution. Hope it works out for you!

I tried this and even after my pleadings they said they couldn't help me and disconnect with me mid conversation.

I did get an email from them for my first ticket from last Saturday. They said they couldn't do it. It's just annoying because if they would just tell me my psn account name I could get on with Sony customer support and get my account back and rebuy Stormblood for the ps4 again just so I can fix this issue. I have a ticket floating around asking for my psn account details but something tells me SE is gonna tell me no again.

Sony can give you the PSN ID but not the e-mail address used to create it. You have to provide all possible e-mails that you might have used to create an account and they will check if it exists in their system or not.
I suggest providing Sony with as many information as you can to prove that you're the owner of that account, information such as your date of birth and the answer to your security question.

I did and I recovered 3 accounts but none of them had FFXIV on them. I'm kinda confused as well because I have no other emails left. I literally have no idea what email it could be. I'm still waiting on my last ticket.

This is still an issue. I forgot about this post but they still have not been able to help me.

Again I forgot I made this post, but this is still an issue. I'm just bumping this so that maybe someday we can unlink psn accounts without completely removing our ability to do it. There is no service to do what I need done and SE and Sony refuse to help me.

They only good news is I know the PSN account name. Unfortunately they want UPCs and credit card numbers I haven't had in years. Stuck between a rock in a hard place.

I’ve always found SE to be reasonably helpful with account based things.

To me this sounds more of a Sony issue as it’s related to your PSN. So I imagine that’s why you’ve been sent there.

Sony customer service is dreadful. Like talking to robots.

It's 100% a Sony issue. I need information I don't have and they won't let me prove otherwise. I made the account back in like 2006 when I was a dumb kid(I was 19, but still pretty stupid) so of course I don't remember it. If SE could just unlink the thing without completely borking my account I'd be happy, but I'm at impasse.

At the end of the day it's a me issue as well. Of course now I have a better handle on these things.

I'm just shouting at clouds hoping that eventually something can fix this even if that something is Xbox support. I have access to that!

Do you have any friends who you know of from back when you had that account?

Maybe they could help remember your account name or enough of it for you to remember the entire thing?

I know I remembered someone's character name for another MMO when he needed to gain access and it required a character name and he had forgotten his characters' names.

So my buddy has me on his friends list so we have the PSN account name, but Sony support needs serial numbers on the console I registered my account on or a credit card I used on the account. But I don't own that ps4 anymore and I've gotten new cards since then. It's frustrating because it's become kind of a dead end.

Try scouring your email for receipts from that time that might have the last 4 digits of the card you used. Or reach out to the credit card company you had it with to see if they would be able to give you any of that information.

Unfortunately I moved and that bank is gone now and I had to open a new account. So I don't really have any way of contacting them. I wish they would just unlink the thing. I mean I will 100% buy another copy of the game for playstation and both SE and Sony will make money on this deal, but sadly the only way you can do that is by deleting your service account. I can't do that as well I use it. If it was that simple I would just start the game over, but I would lose so much stuff that you can't get any more. I don't want to have to start over. I would just quit at that point.
