Free Company Tax/Gil Bonus System for Auto Deposit

I'd love to see some ability for the Free Company to either have some form of Gil bonus that get's auto deposited into the Free Company Chest or some way to set a tax that does the same thing, that would deposit Gil into the chest for the free company. This would be optional of course.

With this, it would be great to see more things in the game to buy with Gil too, but as far as the FC goes, this would be a very nice community feature to help build and save Gil as a group.

Agreed, FC leader pay isn't even at minimum wage levels. They need some kind of income.

So you want to automate the system and thus pull jobs from the humble enforcers? Think of their families!

In all seriousness though I have mixed feelings with something like this. Having it optional as an fc setting and an individual opt-in/out/amount would be nice, but if there's tracking or anything I can already see the posts on being kicked out of an FC because the leader felt the need for mandatory taxation.

WoW had something along these lines. Each time you looted coin from a mob the game deposited a percentage of that into the guild bank coffers (the amount the player got was not reduced). Whilst this seems like a great idea in fact it gave rise to guilds that plagued the game and preyed on new players so they could gain gold from them as they levelled and those players never reaped the rewards as the guild leader used the money for their own needs. It was not by chance that the feature was removed from WoW - it was removed because it was widely abused.

Better to have a FC in which the leader can encourage community and members contribute themselves. Enhance the FC communication features instead of turning them into a way for the "invite spam" FC's to get rich quick.

There's absolutely no need for a taxation system to be implemented.

The only way I could see this working without total abuse is if it was a special currency that guild leaders gained when their guild was active. This currency could then only be spent on guild improvements.

However, we'd still get guilds that entice people into their guilds just to get rewards and trumpet their guild as "top guild level" and having "all the benefits".

Aren't Company Credits a kind of indirect tax that goes to your FC? Players contribute to it in many ways while some don't even have the privilege (FC rank) to spend the credits either, so maybe we need more stuff worth trading for them.

As a veteran of Eve Online I am perfectly ok with an FC tax. It can come out of my pocket or out of thin air into the coffers. FC and in particular EXP Boosts cost money to run.

EXP Boosts dont cost gil, they cost the FC credits that were mentioned above.

Which are enough in my humble opinion. Given how the leader can lock the withdraw of gil to themself (and actually should, to protect the FC from theft) and how there is nothing the FC can spend the gil on together besides a house (and we all know how housing works...), I dont see a reason for such a tax. If people want to, they can donate and place gil into the chest.

But the income of the FC is not gil, its FC credits that can be spend on things that have a high chance of benefitting the whole FC - from stuff like boni to fuel for the vessels to furniture and seeds for the garden.

Yes exactly! Everything people do online gets your FC credits.
Your members are already paying you in a way that helps the FC.

I've heard of FC's that ask for donations or monthly taxes and such from their members, and always found it super strange.

As others have stated FC credit is already payment from members. You can always ask and people can give but a gil tax just seems wrong to me.

If this option was in the game I would be instantly turned off by any fc that taxes its members. This sort of feature is ripe for abuse by fc leaders who will pocket the tax money instead of pumping it into the fc.

Yeap. After the feature was introduced a huge amount of guilds spawned, whose sole purpose was to take advantage of the gold automatically deposited into the guild bank. While this didn't take money from the player's pockets, it was still exploitative because these guilds had no intention of fostering a community, or using the gold to do anything nice for the members. They were using other players as free labour to generate free money for them.

Do what WoW does. It generates a percent of the money you loot and puts it in the guild bank. You still get the full amount of copper/silver/gold looted and the game creates out of thin air a percentage of what you looted and puts it in the guild bank. This percent would have to be low though for FF, something like 5% of what you loot. Also WoW ONLY did this for money you looted from mobs. Quest rewards didn't count.

In return, add more uses for this FC gil. Make it so the FC person can buy more FC chest tabs and so on.

Why shouldnt the FC spend their FC credits on more things (like more chest tabs etc.)? We already have a currency thats FC-specific for FC-specific things.
Why create potential drama by adding gil to this FC currency?
Gil could be taken out by anyone, they could be hoarded by the FC-leader and only fill their pockets instead of benefitting the FC. Sure, one can argue that a leader can be the sole benefitter from the credits atm aswell, but that at least requires them to go through the process of spending credits and then selling the goods. With the gil just appearing in the chest, FC-leaders would - in theory - have a free income they'd only need to collect on.

Why not buy more tabs with either credits or gil?

Gil could be used for repairs as well. Give people access to repair using FC gil and so on.

I can guarantee no one is quitting because that guild perk is gone. That feature was removed several years ago. Long before Activision-Blizzard royally messed up WoW on a grand scale.

If the tax or whatever wasn't there in the start, don't add it now. The system should either be built around something like that, or it won't be. Don't change it mid way.

No. Just no.

Warframe has this on player trades and some taxes go into 1+mil credits. To someone who just started and a guildmate wants to give them a really nice mod, it won't happen.

So no FC tax.

I'd rather they would expand what you can do with company credits. Even a small FC can end up in the millions and have actions every day, and a larger one can way more credits than we know what to do with. Maybe use them to buy materials for FC crafts (like the airships and subs), or there have been a couple of threads about customizable airship "housing", which could be a fun way to get the FC together for events and such.

Mostly, I don't see the point in taxation since there's little that FC gil CAN do that couldn't be done with credits, and what can be done with credits is limited enough as is.

For a way for the FC to make money I would prefer a FC Shop, (like in dot hack!). We have all those FC airships and submarines that bring stuff back, so lets put it all into a shop that FC members can buy from. Maybe have a shop so other players can buy from our shop. With all proceeds going to the FC Chest. Shops would be optional ofc.

I don't like the idea of a tax on FC members, it's just going to be abused.
What I'd like to see introduced is a way to let my members take out a limited amount of gil from the chest every week (FC management sets limit); at the moment it's all or nothing.

The shop idea is really nice. With the chest being so tiny it's hard to let our members see all the items we are holding from the ships and subs, and I know a lot of people are shy about asking if they can have things. A FC Shop that is only open to members would be awesome.
If your FC needs gil, you could set it up to make a profit but if you're established and don't need the gil, you could set it up so items were available at 'giveaway' prices. There are very few benefits of being in a FC right now. A few perks like this would be good imo.

There are already too many gil sinks already (cost of teleporting, useless sales tax on market board items). Adding another arbitrary gil sink seems pointless to me, especially one as ripe for abuse as this proposal.

This is ffxiv. Our guild tax system is an fc leader calling for the fc to raise the capital to buy a mansion, and shortly after the mansion is purchased kicking everyone from the fc and living in the mansion alone.

So by default you wouldnt pay any gil towards the FC unless you opt into it yourself (FC leadership would have 0 control over this, nor would they be able to see who is and isnt opting in.). I mean that could be a thing. Dont think people would opt into it most likely, but it is worth noting that a system could be implemented to allow for it that would mitigate abuse.

People can deposite gil in the FC-chest if they wish to do so. I dont see a huge benefit from turning this into some "auot withdraw" from your pocket. If people want to contribute to the fortune of their FC, a system for that is in place. For anything else, there are FC-credits after all...

It would be honestly implemented as a player convenience if they so did want to. So you dont need to go manually donate, it just takes a portion of your collected income from things and deposits it. Since it would be player opt in, its just a thing someone can turn on and not worry about it. As I suggested, theres no reason not to have it as an option with that consideration. Cant be abused by the FC, taxed amount is blind to everyone else, it's at the players discretion, and auto contributes so you dont have to worry about it once turned on. Could even come with customization to dictate where the revenue comes from (Like check boxes for things like Fates, Dungeons, raids, etc). Even if you personally wouldnt see a benefit, someone else may. Just a suggestion, considering that the OP is asking for a tax system and apparently thinks one would be useful.

Hard pass.

A FC member recently used the FC chest to pass through items to her alt accounts. As "payment" she sold some of the detritus that had accumulated in the chest, and ended up depositing half a million gil in there.

What was all the stuff she sold? Things the airships brought back.

FCs with a house already have a means of generating income, so this tax wouldn't be necessary, but I could see it as an option for a FC that is trying to save up to buy a house and hasn't yet.
