How mad would the Healers be?
How happy would the DPS be?
How much angrier would DPS be that Gunbreaker is not a DPS but DNC is?
What weapon should DNC use? Fans, Chakrams, Color Guard Ribbon Things... Nunchukus, Bo Staffs, Double Bladed Staffs?

I really don't care what dancer is, I just want the teacher to be a Mamool Ja and the class story to loosely based off the movie Footlose. If I could get a tambourine to smack things with, all the better.
DPS Dancer at this stage would be a terrible move.
Fans, Ribbons or a Bo staff would work for a Dancer healer.
Save chakrams for a new physucal ranged DPS in 6.0
How so? Because they look to be returning to the trinity? (Gunbreaker - tank, Blue Mage - DPS...?)
DNC in XI was a DPS. I'd be cool with it being a support DPS or healer. Still I'd prefer a DPS with maybe whip or fans.
To be honest, I feel like they have healing covered at this point. Mind you they also had tank covered too...
Thats subjective and personal preference. I havent really seen any official polls showing what players want one way or another.
I personally dont feel like we needed another tank or healer. But in fairness to those players, its good that they are entertaining them. Doesnt mean that DNC will be heals just because Gunbreaker is a tank though.
It would be interesting to see a physical based healer though.... instead of the usual caster-types.
Somehow? Have you not played FFVI or FFT? It was definitely a DPS job in its early days. It served as a counterpart to Bard, while Bard buffed the party, Dancer debuffed the enemy. Personally I'd be happiest to see Dancer as a support melee DPS and the introduction of Chemist as a healer, but that's unlikely at this point.
Then we would be getting three jobs for SHB.
Three meaning there's no way they're not giving us a healer, so if DNC is a DPS, we'll also be getting a healer class.
Getting tired of all of the DPS-selfish threads here. "I love x class, so it has to be DPS bc healers and tanks don't need anything new, they already have stuff!" Same people, every time. Gunbreaker was tank, you've finally had your 5 days of mourning, and now you're on to DNC.
Most healer mains I know will probably quit the game and have expressed as much if they don't give us something new. Have fun with your DPS queues then.
Its been 4 years since we got a new tank and healer, making that 6 years would be the middle finger to all tanks and healers.
And tanks and healers kinda go together, they're always the roles in need, can't do anything without them.
"It's good that they're entertaining them."
Could you try to sound less patronising?
This wasn't a "DNC needs to be DPS" thread. I was just asking some questions about how would you feel IF DNC was a DPS. I've come to tearms with GNB being a tank and I'm looking forward to playing it. I honestly don't care what DNC is. If it's a Healer I'll unlock it and never touch it. If it's a DPS I'll level it and go back to GNB after words. This was purely a discussion thread not a HATE thread.
Dang, now that people have accepted gunbreaker as a tank people are targeting dancer saying it must be a dps class now.
Im a tank main and I hope Dancer is a healer. Really healers need something new and if its another dps job I would be surprised and extremely disappointed.
No dont even joke about that. In fact we better not get any dps jobs 4 the nxt 2 expansions until we get 2 more tanks and 2 more healers
The honest answer without outrage at even the thought of it?
Well healers would be hugely in demand. So those that stuck with the game would get treated like royalty and instant queues.
But of course some would be outraged. Some would not be mad, but would be very bored with healing. In short it would not be good for the healer population, but those that didn't leave or switch would find themselves very in demand.
It's worth noting that this sort of already happened at the start of stormblood. In dungeon queues and in PFs at max level. The raiding healing population is also already a bit low even right now - so even decently skilled, off meta healers are pretty sought after.
:P How would you react / feel if your preferred role did not get a new job in six years while every other role did?
Technically, it would make a lot more sense for Dancer to be a DPS than a Healer... As it's classically been a more offensive version of Bard.
But Dark Knight tank threw any idea of making sense out of the window.
Edit: And if we're going to Garlemald, I still say Chemist would a thematically more fitting Healer class...
If DNC was brought in as a DPS, there would be more healers that are upset they didn't get it than DPS who would be happy that they did. It would be shocking to nearly everyone at this point that the devs went that direction, but the only community that will riot as a result of not getting it would be the healers. If it is brought in as a healer, most of the DPS community would just shrug their shoulders and probably say "gratz".
In the next several months we will find out the if SE knows the age-old mmo lesson of never piss off your healer.

If they did that then I may as well help Garlemald, if my main role can't be bothered to get anything new in years. And the first people I'd go for are the ones that want everything under the sun to be a dps.
We are all under the assumption that DNC would use actual weapons and attack an enemy with them (similar to FFV, Mog from FFVI, and DNC from FFXI).
For all we know, DNC could be like the Dancer job from Final Fantasy Tactics: a backline job that literally just danced... and afflicted the whole battlefield with stat reductions and enfeebles against (yay for Nameless Dance!).
I feel like the only healer main who would just shrug and move on with life if DNC were a DPS instead of a healer. I do tend to prioritize other stuff in game over having new stuff to level to level cap though, so there's that. If SBr comes with major content and job balance improvements I can't say I'd mind if there was no new healing job to level through it. If AST's healing went through the full design rework most of us want it to have I doubt I'd play another healer job again, really. It would be the perfect one for me. *_*
Tanks, and Healers have their turn now
DPS has:
Black Mage
Red Mage
Summoner
Monk
Samurai
Ninja
Dragoon
Bard
Machinist
Tanks:
Paladin
Warrior
Dark Knight
Gunbreaker
Healer has:
White Mage
Scholar
Astrologian
DPS has nine options, and ten if you believe Blue Mage is dps. (Not everyone agrees on Blues role)
Pick any of those. I doubt you have spent a lot of time with every job. I've personally tried all three healers, and I'm bored. Three options for the last four years is getting to me.
Now if we get a new healer, and Square Enix decides they have time for a new dps job in addition to healer, and tank, then alright. You can have your dps then, or wait two more years. It won't hurt as much as four.
I played whm as my main from arr - sb then switch to ast cause wanted a changed and loved it. sch I suck at it. Whm changed but I didn't like it anymore. For a lot of us who prefer healing as main job dancer as healing class would be something refreshing to try. And totally get why Dps want dancer but us long term healers want something new.
I don't post often mostly lurk but had to say something
I don't know what the %s are of people that main DPS that now main SAM or RDM, but it doesn't matter - new DPS gave them something new to play with, experiment with, level, enjoy. Even if a RDM player went back to SMN or BRD or whatever their main was, they still had a new toy.
That's what we want - a new toy. Not even two, like DPS got with SB. Even if half the healer mains went back to their current class after playing/levelling DNC, it still would have given them something new to play with and enjoy. So many people saying "healers wouldn't switch" or "it wouldn't be my main" - okay? It doesn't have to be. It's just another option for us. Why is the expectation that DPS can sandbox their 9 classes, playing whatever they want at will, but healers and tanks should only get a new class if it's going to be The Best and we're all going to switch to it?
I won't stop being AST main, for many reasons (one of which is that I love the class - I hope they don't completely restructure it. But I'm still looking forward to playing around with a new class. Who knows? It might become a tie for my favourite.
The real question should be is the Job the right Job for that Job Role.
IF SE just slaps on any job into Healer and Tank Job just because they need a Healer and Tank Job, they may go a bit too far just to satisfy the demand for more Tank and Healers such as making Gunner Job the next Healer Job that shoots Magical healing bullets at party members to heal so it acts as a instant healing skill Job because "magic bullets! I don't need to explain anything" with grenades that explodes on a placed location to create a healing chemical AoE Healing zone similar to Imperial Agent and Trooper from Star wars the old republic.
Or Gambler as the next Tank job that focus on "betting the odds" to Tank as a Tank Job that use Magic to randomly applies how much damage is reduced and how much enmity it gets from all enemies around himself that he or she does not hit with a attack for each attack it does thus being a AoE 24/7 enmity generating tank that does not need to hit their enemies to generate enmity on them.
I'll go "oh, cool" and not have to worry about never using it in Savage because it's likely our healers won't switch just because I wanna dance. If it IS indeed a healer, I'll ask very nicely if they'll let me heal the 5.x raid tiers :P
it is exactly the argument that is happening on many threads. "I play dps therefore every class must cater to me because I cba to tank or heal, oh as you are also a minority, you don't need new jobs". It is not the people who main tanks and healers who create the divisive argument, but the opposite. Heck, I main dps, and yet i'm very happy tanks get something new. I also heal often enough to be bored with 3 jobs, and would really like dancer to be the 4th healer. Variety is good.
