Dedicated MCH mains should get first dibs on Gunbreaker, everyone else should have to wait at least a week or "GBK?" should require MCH lv 60.

Minfilia is back. YEEEESSSS love that character, ever since version 1 /happydance
And Urianger toning down his poetic speech patterns are a blessing, was getting a lil old. Although it did make him unique. Love him without the mask too.
Viera, meh, just be able to add rabbit to my potato stew. Would much rather have had Ronso, but oh well.
It is funny becuase if Gunbreaker focus on mechanics is a Ammo system for their abilities to tank than Machinist players will have a slight experience advantage over other players even those who played Tank Job for a while due to their experience with ammo system to DPS.
I don't think the NieR-collab 24-man raid series is all that amazing.
Square seems to be getting into the habit of literally just taking content from other games (and even a whole other game series with the NieR raids). Usually implemented in a way where it very flimsily connects to the world of FF14; Deltascape, Sigmascape, the Ivalice raid series. Can we get more content relevant to the world of 14 and less pandering please?
Never really cared for gunblades so gunbreaker...meh. Honestly though I feel bad for MCHs. That should've been like a tree job or something.
Viera: the "real amazons" makes me lul as a femroe.
It's a tank class. So being a machinist doesn't compare to being a tank.
I think the 24 man raid is a mistake.
Im deeply worried by the trailer words "Till our Friend Returns". Specially in the context of so many Single Player focused implementations and testings lately...
I cannot be the only one who thinks Hydaelyn is amazing on it's own and we have no need to explore, visit or have things so forcefully "fit" into our world...? This is starting to feel like the complete opposite of what ARR felt... ARR was kinda darker, very focused on it's own thing. And Heavensward was even darker, but also began to explore other venues... Like a whole lot of change happend... The cash shop massified... Along with other worrying marketing practices...
Final Fantasy XIV is starting to feel... Like mere fan service, like a bad japanese fan service anime... Or more like a very bad filler arc in otherwise an amazing series that has troubles keeping up with it's main plot... Yeah... We need more Hydaelyn. We need more empire, we need more ascians, more primals and beast tribes, definetly more warfare, or more exploration of our own world, the lands we have yet to visit, the instancing of massive chunks of lore, worldbuilding, the massive time bubbles the game has... Hydaelyn is cool man... I also had a slight hope, that the robed child was Unukulhai... Not... Sigh... Why? I thought we were done with 1.0? It was the whole point of the Warriors of Darkness, yet again another recycled concept.
What is this mess...? Why are we not preventing the use of Black Rose? Why is what we SHOULD be doing, being done by someone else and we kinda just get that teased...? Im talking about Ascian fighting. Yeah, Elidibus, remember him? Remember Zodiark? Can we please explore OUR world and OUR story?
The "Trust" system seems to be an additive to solo play like Command missions. Sure its nice to be able to queue instantly to grind but implementing more solo experiences just spits in the face of an MMORPG. It's just weird.
Not gushing at the gates about Gunbreaker. It's cool looking, but that's it. It's a rule of cool class/job. I can't see past that.
Nier 24-collab isn't as exciting as they're trying to make it out to be. Maybe I'm biased in that I've only played the first Nier title and I feel Automatia is just android fanservice with maid skirts and edgelords.
Urianger can Spread and Draw me literally any day of the week and I will fight anyone that disagrees he's a walking sex machine.
The Y'shtola/Matoya thing is... Just head-scratching. Are they the same person? Is Matoya a title handed down over generations? What's going on there, and please have a good explaination for it instead of half-baked plots that are inconsistant.
All in all, I'm keeping my hype to a minimum. I don't want an overhyped game with under-delivered content. *stares at WoW/Hacktivision*
The only experience I've had with time-travel in MMO's was Warlords of Draenor (Don't @ me for being an ex-WoW player), and that went so, so, so very badly and left a bitter taste in my mouth for timetravel concepts in the future.
That was an example of how it can go horribly wrong. Having played the game for years myself, even during WoD, it was certainly a rough time to be playing WoW. BfA is a close second though in regards to being horrible imo and it has nothing to do with time travel. I haven't touched the game in a few months.
Unpopular opinions? This is probably going to enrage some people, but I don't mind if they gender lock the Viera.
I'm also unsure how the Nier 24 man raid is going to fit within the scope of this game.
Unpopular opinion? I’ve got tons, but I’ll keep it short for this one.
Minfillia is back! Yes!
Viera are boring and a waste of resources.
Honestly, I'm not very excited for the new 24-man-raid. I loved Ivalice raids! They were my favorites so far, but I find the Nier Automata aesthetic meh, specially in a FFXIV setting.
Also Minfilia again, seriously? Poor Thancred.
I think that the lore seems sooo confused atm. I kinda miss HW where the story had a very clear setting and it was more linear, it ended up being my fav expac story-wise. While stormblood wasn't bad, the less focused we were on Ala Mhigo, the weaker the plot was imo. I liked Doma but I feel like the main plot was way more weak than HW.
I hope they don't go for some non-sense route plot-wise, I hate when jRPGs go that way. It usually only leads to confusing and poor writing.
Viera is eh. Not going to consider changing races until we get another cute and small race that's not on the "cute skimpy anime girl" department.
Gunbreaker looks like some amalgamation of PLD/DRK, and unless they are really creative, ammo is just gonna be Dark Arts wearing bullets. If that happens, then another slashing sword tank is a terrible waste of potential for Gunbreaker.
I did 8.0 content, raided G'huun NM and left it at that. I'm just not interested in the backwards-ass systems in place, the lack of open world content, the abysmal story-- No, I won't go on a rant here.
Unpopular opinion; I don't really find the Pixies to be all that interesting. It's clear they're going to play a major part in the story MSQ, but they're just... Pixies. They remind me of the Sylph a tad too much to be interesting or unique.
I'd rather they worked on the races we've already got than adding new ones. I'd take more face options over the viera any day.
Talking like that without knowing what happens in part 2 of 4.5 is short-sighted, maybe 5.0 is a result of fighting Ascian and because we made the light too strong something worse than a calamity (as it is said in the trailer) is happening. Also talking about "our world", "Hydaelyn" and "Zodiark" but not wanting to go to other shards (or even wanting to have anything to do with them) is weird since that's the whole shtick of Hydaelyn and Zodiark battle...
I don't really care how out-of-place the NieR raid is in this setting, I think it looks like it'll be a lot of fun. I don't take my WoL's canon so seriously that I'll say no to them going on a weird bullet hell adventure with cute robot girls.
This pretty much sums up how I feel as well. If anyone has played PSO2, you can start seeing the comparisons which worries me because that game literally throws away it's years of lore to pander to anime fans using collabs with other games/media to create content. They've crossed over with anything from Monster Hunter and Nier to even King of Fighters...In a PHANTASY STAR GAME.
What worries me about collabs is that games tend to lose their identity bringing in other franchises. Each FF had it's own thing going on. It created new characters, locales and lore based in it's own world. FFXIV had that but then it began relying too heavily on fanservice.
Yeah, so far even less impressed with this SB expansion than the last SB.
Agreed on both counts. When I look at the ones in the preview, I just see Highlander faces on Elezen figures with longer hair options and rabbit ears slapped on. And it's in all likelihood going to be their excuse for not giving more (if any) customization options for the other races yet again.
Gunbreaker falls wholly in the "meh" territory for me. Slapped MCH-esque AF on a gunblade-wielding job, called it a tank, and done.
I'm sure the NieR-inspired alliance raid excites some people, but it's only implying to me that dev team is running dry on their own creativity and is resorting to shoehorning/fanservice, backed-up by their whole 4.0 raid tiers and "new" race.
I have no doubt that the Nier raid series will be fantastic, but I agree with everyone who asks for more original FFXIV content. More unique characters, more unique storylines, more unique everything. I want to be excited by the actual content, and not by the thing it's referencing from a different game/series.
Other shards i get it. But those other shards are still hydaelyn. We are just the core shard.
For that to happen, 4.5 would have to:
Solve Unukalhai - Alpha Serpentarius/Zodiark maybe, or heavily zodiark related. Yeah, everyone has forgotten we have an Ascian with a name that means "Alpha Serpent" right next to us.
--------------------> Bring back Hydrus in any way shape or form, honestly i belive him is the only one who was able to protect or steer the emperor, his lost was not only a narrative mess and waste but ill not dig too deep.
Solve Zenos - Yeah. Not happening.
Solve the whole imperial War - If that is not the main scenario of 5.0, it has to be done in 4.5b and honestly, from both the trailers and zones so far shown, we are nowhere near going into garlemald, so we are basically taking another "break" from this.
The whole dialog of Y'shtola/Matoya sounds like the start of a training arc... "Till our friend returns i will hold them". Is she somehow use imba archon/matoya OP powers to hold against the imperials/light overflow while we go somewhere else? To find something?
Also, minfilia is back, and she shouldn't, the whole point of the warrior's of darkness and her becoming hydaelyn's avatar and helping the WoD in their source world is an allegory to saving 1.0 and then letting go... I honestly always thought the white robbed child was Unukalhai.
Yeah, we are going into a training expansion, to delay the confrontation even further, another expansion wasted into silly unrewarding side stories(anything ala mhigo "revolution" related), unnecessary character leads (lyse), unnecessary region additions that tease more content and divert the storyline from moving forwards rather than help it out (all othard related things)... Nah, let open every single thread, we might possibly need it in some future if things go nowhere... Which is honestly 4.0 till 4.5, where finally things started to flow again... And now we cut to some inconsequential sidequesting and more franchises pandering, fan servicing and marketing...
Viera are bland and uninspired, new tank class is not needed since they can't balance the ones they have already, and the game is becoming more fanservicey then ever and is lacking in original content. Plus with the way they handled BLU I wager Gunbreaker or Squall Leonhart the Job Class will be met with extreme scrutiny.
Honestly the more unpopular opinion right now seems to be that I'm looking forward to the new 24-man raid, and I'm 100% okay with it not being FF-based.
Geez...a lot of negativity in this thread. Yet the constant whining isn't keeping me down.
Since it does seem like a minority opinion, I can't wait to see how Yoko Taro manages to bring Nier to XIV (or is it vice versa? /shrug). And from watching the extended scenes, it turns out that I kind of miss Minfilia and hope she gets a prominent role in the MSQ.
Not really. The FFXIV reddit has over 600+ comments about the Nier Raid. Most seem to be fairly positive and the negative comments or people who don't want anything to do with it have gotten downvoted.
I started a FB thread in a FFXIV group and a large majority of people seem to want it as well. I didn't know that this was something people had been asking for.
Im kinda torn. NieR is great and the story/world/characters are great and I've wanted a crossover event since I played through the game…but thas an expansion’s worth of 24 man raids dedicated to a non ff game. It would have been weird if we got a GARO or MHW batch of alliance raids.
