Im sceptical this will fit into FF14 Lore. We stray away from FFXIV Universe and add more crossover's right into the story.
edit: if done right, I am all up for it. I really hope we will get the OST!
To be entirely fair though FFXIV's entire schtick has been that it's basically the nexus where many different Final Fantasies meet. We've had cross overs with XIII, XI, and more and we even had some items from Dragon Quest in the past. The whole set up for Omega as well basically allows for infinite possibilities given the expanse of space and the ability for entities to travel across it. I can't say I mind the idea of a NieR cross over given the ideas introduced in 4.5 which further solidified the multiple worlds being fully canon. So long as it isn't too over the top it should be fine. At the very least the tone will be more in line with FFXIV than the Yo-kai event.
I was wondering why no Nier Trial collaboration, this is even better :D. Too bad they said nothing about new Omega.
Whelp guess I need to go play Nier now.
I didn't know how much I needed this in my life until I saw it @o@
Can't wait for NieR gear sets!!
I have very mixed feelings about this, honestly.
I like Nier and all, but it's starting to seem like they're running out of ideas for raids if they need to keep drawing from other source material this much.
I miss the original raids like Coil and Void Ark.
What is the deal with this game how is it related to FFXIV?
im super excited about this, i think its a awesome idea.
Can someone explain Yorha to me as someone who has never played it?
I know nothing about nier, maybe I should change that lol, but the art looks really neat. The scale looks a bit terrifying, in a good way :). Does that big thing in the background reference something from Nier?
Very disappointed in this. Nothing against NieR at all, but crossover stuff needs to not be main content in this game.
Depending on how the main raid turns out, I'll likely have the same issues with Shadowbringers that I had with Stormblood. Too much fan service and reference based nonsense, and not actual - original content for the game.

Reminder that Yoko Taro is out to get us this year.
It would have to be adequately integrated into FFXIV lore.
I'm wondering if the hint at the end of RtI, of them recovering the Construct androids from the lighthouse, is hinting at a branch of the Garlean military developing an android army.
Please don't make all the "Garlean android" OCs that pop up canon, SE. Don't do this to us
I don't know a thing about Nier. I've never played any of them. I'm not sure how I feel about FFXIV now having another games world worked into the History or World of FFXIV. Other final fantasys like FF3 or 12 and Tactics worked... but Nier doesn't really have a connection to the FF franchise that I'm aware of. However if we are going to Garlamald maybe YoRHA will be some resistance group like NORA in FF13. Garleans tend to be very Shinra esq so maybe YoRHA will be a group that thinks Ceruleum is the life blood of the planet or something. OR... SPOILERS for 4.5
Maybe since the Garleans are dealing with cloning the story will concern the clones trying to stop being used as cannon fodder or something.
hmm the stinger at the end of RtI suggested looking at the tartarus which is a gateway to other places might be we get sucked through a big one and go to nier automata's world
I look forward to the new and interesting ways Yoko Taro will make me even more depressed as I take my character out the back behind Ul'dah and put a bullet in them to get the best ending in the final raid in 5.5
I can't wait for the Nier inspired coats and asscapes.
YoRHA are basically an organization of highly-advanced androids who are fighting against an invasion of robots (Who for the most part are very inhuman-looking to differentiate them from the androids) on Earth to liberate it so their human creators can return from the moon.
Of course, as with all of Yoko Taro's works, it's never as simple as it sounds.
I also struggle to think of how they'll fit them into XIV's setting unless they go with the "Allagans did it" explanation yet again.
I can't wait to get trolled.
It will need a lot of careful and precise work to make it fit into XIV.
Considering how the Ivalice series despite being from an FF game didn't fit very well into XIV I expect Nier to further stray away from XIV's feeling.
I prefer more XIV original content.
It worked ok but didn't fit perfectly.
The reason is that they tried to port almost everything from XII and the other Ivalice games.
Too many things at once and it made it feel disconnected from XIV.
Ivalice has a very big lore and a distinct feeling so it kinda didn't mixed perfectly.
Now Nier is a completely different beast with a very different feeling and lore and that's why I'm worried.
I'm happy for those who wanted the Nier crossover for a while but personally I'm very disappointed. I feel like FF14 is becoming fanservice platform. I loved Coils, Crystal Tower and Void Ark, it showed more of the FF14 world and it's history. I think Eorzea has so much more we could explore but instead we keep getting other worlds meshed into it that makes me feel like I'm not playing FF14 anymore. :(
Coil is a different raid type, but the stories of Crystal Tower and Void Ark were... kinda bad. As long-winded as it could get, the story of Return to Ivalice was far more interesting than the previous 24-mans. If going to outside sources means we get higher quality raids, then I'm all for it.
At this point, the crossovers are getting old especially since everyone seems to be using the same titles. SE has been milking the crap out of Nier...Soul Calibur 6, PSO2, Monster Hunter Frontier and now this game? I'm waiting for Yoshi to finally create an original raid again after the whole Omega Raid and Ivalice basically being fanservice.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see Geralt show up as well since he's also been floating around different games recently.
When i look at the 24m raids i look at its story, how it fits into ffxiv and the raids themselves
so for CT raids its story was predictable as it was ff3 last dungeons but they made it fit well in ffxiv it feels connected while being fan service but the raids were not too great LotA had 3 reused boss models CT was too simple on mechanics and WoD was aesthetically bland.
For Void raids its story was unique to ffxiv and it made me want more after each part the raids themselves suffered though Void ark was too water downed compared to the others Dun scath also getting proto ultima as trash mob was disappointing.
For RtI i find that it story is too steeped in fan service it was a great love letter to fans of the Ivalice series of games but i feel for it to fit in ffxiv we needed more side quests to tie the characters in better, the raid themselves were the best series of 24m
TLDR with Yorha raids if they are doing fanservice stuff at least make the raids themselves as good as RtI or better but i want something unique to ffxiv next time at that quality something future ff games may like to take inspiration from
Ivalice felt uncomfortably similar to the source material for me and did little to build on established lore, instead opting to more or less copy-paste lore from FFT/FF XII into the setting with little to no indication of any of it existing prior.
I brought up Coil because of the fact that Omega was a similar deal with it also being a very nostalgia-focused raid. It got points for at least giving established characters like Midgarsormr, Cid, and Nero more time in the spotlight, though.
Not looking forward to it at all. I'll still read the storyline and whatnot, but not knowing Nier at all kills it for me. Completely uninterested. To the people that wanted it and/or are looking forward to it, enjoy it and have fun with it as I don't begrudge other players for getting things I don't like, but I just don't care about it.
