interesting we don't usually get weps let alone a DoH item not personally a fan but i will go after that mammet though
TONBERRY KNIFE!
...there are no guys in the promo image whatsoever o.o wow
Tonberry knife! <3
Unfortunate that it's just a secondary tool. Frypan is still our mainhand so we won't get to stab anyone with it >,>
Pathetic.
A sword thrown in for no reason and a knife no one will ever see. Off hands do not show and who uses cul that much anyways not to mention the pan is what shows the majority of recipes. Make a heart shaped pan and have hearts coming off of it. Square cannot get lazier.
That picture tho
Pretty weird valentine items.. they could have just given these weapons on patch day. I guess they had to save something for events they're being lazy for. Housing food items are always meh so this is really lame, there isn't anything good and usually valentine is the event for good stuff but this time they didn't put in any effort.
People always complain if it's not an outfit or mount a d call it "lazy".
Guys, event rewards won't always be "the best". Sometimes we get things that aren't great, sometimes we get amazing things.
They are probably busy working on expansion stuff but didn't want to just skip an event. The event itself may be quite fun even if the rewards are lame.
Some of the past years have had pretty lame rewards
Those look more like gold saucer novelty items than event rewards.
They could have put some heart-y textures on the items? I don't know. It looks underwhelming to me. Personally, I won't bother getting the items.
Huh? I have no idea what people's issue is with the rewards. It's a Valentines event, obviously it's going to have love-related rewards? Everything looks right to me.

I believe part of the problem is that we got two mounts last year, which was a pretty amazing reward (along with some furniture that I personally liked more than what we're getting this year).
But as always... if they give out an amazing reward ONCE they set expectations high and now suddenly every follow up of this event needs a similar good reward or the devs are being lazy (while actually most likely putting in an aweful amount of overtime right now to get 5.0 ready).
I'll never understand why people are so fixated on getting a mount or something equally "huge" as a reward from a tiny event - its a nice surprise when we get one, sure. But this imidiate attitude of "Oh, no mount, devs are lazy, event sucks" specially right before the next expansion always seemed short sighted to me.
Nobody said this though. No one asked for a mount. The rewards are crap. Nothing to do with valentines day whatsoever. Like I said, if they wanted to make a DoH reward, they could have made it a heart shaped pan. The effects could have been an after thought for all I care. As usual, SE is just lazy. I bet these were supposed to be gold saucer rewards as someone said. Like I said, pathetic.
Because they've gotten good stuff a while ago and now they're spoiled about this, especially after the last Moonfire Faire with the beach outfit and the extra jumping puzzle.
Went all huffy when All Saints' Wake was less with rewards than usual and the Starlight Celebration clothes were robes, because "Ugh, robes again."
The reward is a sword, for Dark Knight, that's pretty much it. CUL off-hand isn't even visible most of the time.
It's not about being spoiled, or it not being a mount, it's about these being by far the worst rewards for any seasonal event ever.
I've not liked plenty of the previous rewards, thought they were kind of naff, low effort, underwhelming, whatever, but at least they weren't literally just one weapon for one out of the fifteen jobs.
And at the very least, before they at least adhered to the events' themes. A gigas weapon and a tonberry knife don't exactly scream 'Valentoine's', no matter what story this event'll have. I didn't need to know what was up with Yin and Yang to be able to tell at a glance that they were the All Saints' Wake award because, ya know. Ghosts. These things are thematically detached
It could of been a proper hug or kiss emote... but nope. To much asked.
Name one (1) game with a better St. Valentione's Day event than FFXIV (that isn't FFXI or some other FF game it possibly appears in that I don't know about).
You can't so stop complaining.
Kind of wanted a new outfit but I’m still excited.
If you have the eyes more on the rewards rather than on the event itself, then this is not for you.
I mean, we can ask SE to pull a cash shop valentines event like ArchAge did and have new themed items exclusively sold there during the event...
Hopefully the event itself is fun and has a cute story. The rewards are always kind of secondary anyway, though it is a shame that they don't seem to do event posters anymore - I was starting to get a nice collection going.
Disappointed.
Would have at least liked 1 glam item which all classes can use.
Even if they had reused one of the NPC outfits, it would have been better than class specific items.
I suppose apartment/house decorating enthusiasts at least have something.
Gonna pass on this event.

Can't say anything about the game play until I've seen it but IMO getting a mount is better than not getting one. Last year's love maze was awesome. I also liked completing the meta achievement for seasonal events in WoW.
No better way to say "I love you" than with a good stabbing I guess.
I legit lol'd when I seen the rewards andjust knew this thread would be here.
The sword is straight out the 4.5 GS rewards and the knife....will be invisible majority of the time...would be like giving us a glam belt for reward.
Neither even look remotely "lovey" in style. I mean can't the sword and knife just have a heart shaped pommel or something to fit at least?
Doubt I'll even bother with it. Not worth even clogging the armoire with.
If all else I did get a good laugh when reading the lodestone page so there is that. You brought me a sliver of joy for a brief moment.
Should've asked Koji-fox to add a monk weapon to this.
"Just you and your hand tonight!"
I know how to fix this.
Garlean:"A knife?? This makes no sense whatsoever."
Eorzean:"It makes perfect sense!"
Garlean: "How?"
Eorzean:"The quickest way to your lover's heart is a knife."
Garlean:"Doesn't that make you look psycho and unstable?"
Eorzean:"You culture killing philistine!"
Garlean:"Bloody tone deaf savage."
:beat:
(Hugs and kisses ensue)
In all seriousness, the weapons look like the weapon templates from Maple Story 2! The blandest of bland, fit only for saying "This is what I hit the bad pixels with!" At least there you have the ability to change them into something proper.
Oh great, now I need to level Culinarian...
Can we please get a giant tonberry knife for PLD and DRK?
Kind of sucks for those that don't play drk. Why would you make an event reward that is only usable by one class?
At least it is better then last event (Heavansturn), that one i finally did do it but did not care.
Toneberry knife could have been on pld and nin too
But i dont mind this valentine events have not been that great anyway besides the dote emote
Getting glamor set for easter anyway chill
Wooo! GAAAAY!
