Suicide Mage - Please Consider

've found 3 Suicide Spells, and BLU has very low personal DPS potential against Primals. (Or anything that's basically immune to everything status based in BLU's kit).
So, here's my idea. There's a boss at the end of Amdapor Keep (Hard) that can self-revive.

Let's get that spell.
Make it an instant OGCD with say, 60-180 seconds cooldown. (really flexible here)
Effect: Applies "Self-res" buff to caster (Or maybe target?). Duration: 3 seconds.
If a person with that buff dies, they instantly revive without Weakness debuff.

I want to make practical use of these Suicide Spells, and I also want to help boost BLU's crap Primal DPS to a level where it's actually relavent to be it's supposed "Solo" class. I thought BLU could really use a raise or self-raise spell very early on leveling once I had Self-destruct and Final Sting. This became further enhanced once I was 50 with 130 gear, with Off-guard -> Glower spam being about all you can do to a primal (before getting pieces of Primal spells to actually use, but that's still not great DPS yet).

Having a res/self-res in this way, I believe is just gimmicky enough to justify having it on BLU. It's a shame that even though Amdapor Keep (Hard) is a 50 dungeon that Yoshi didn't allow us this opportunity. This likely means we wont get it. But I want this!

Edit: Sorry! Wrong dungeon with Amdapor in the name! The Lost City of Amdapor (Hard) is the dungeon of interest here.

I hope for Angel's Whisper in future expansion, probably from the totems, actually.

It's a healing spell that places re-raise status on the target. It would be perfect for a Blue Mage suicide spells. Especially if it would be spammable (with an MP cost to match).

When they raise level cap in a year or so if they want to have every BLU spell ever they will give us Auto Life. Which will auto resurrect us on death. And with how silly some of the skills are like Toad Oil and Missile I think much later Selfdestruct is going to get better and maybe Final Sting will see some use.

I've always disliked kamikaze type abilities in FF games. Reason being is because they are far more effective on us than on bosses. We don't have the 6-8 figure HP pools to survive them like they do.

That would be Auto-Life that you're describing. But yeah, I'll probably feel inclined to use Self-Destruct for something other than a suicidal Return spell when that's something I can cast.

I was trying to picture a boss in AK that used a raise and completely blanking. But yeah, the kuribu in lost city hard(level 60) has something like that. Reraise/life 3/auto life(depending on game) would certainly make some of these abilities more appealing.

Yeah, that's been something on my mind. I've had another thought for the spell to "nullify incapacitation" for a few seconds instead.

Those moves would be busted if they could used without penalty.

Final Sting's potency is 2250 (Because you should never use it without Bristle) + 50% from Off-Guard + 50% from Moon Flute + 30% from Peculiar light, and can go even higher with buffs from other classes.

I'm dealing almost as much damage as a LB 2 with just my personal buffs involved if it gets a DH crit.

That's the point. Blu's not here to be balanced, hence why it's locked out of DF. It would not surprise me if in 5.0, Angel Whisper came as part of the next wave of spells and if it doesn't, the request for it might be large enough to sway SE into putting it in the game.

Toad Oil + Off-guard + Bristle + Peculiar Light + Self-destruct generally takes down almost all non boss groups at once. Plus I've actually avoided a lot of primal attacks with Toad Oil before, that 20% evasion for 3 minutes is pretty nice and I'm sure it'll help a lot in the MC

I don't think they could make BLU balanced even if they chose to at a later date, because the strategy for using BLU is basically operating from the POV of being a monster. There is no way to setup a party where players would actively pick balanced skills, it would just be a dps race with one player having raise so they can use things like self destruct with impunity. Sure that might be the fastest/funnest way for the BLU to participate, but would also become the only meta people use.

What they COULD do (or consider doing) with the suicide spells, it drop your HP down to 1, and turn it into weakness status like you were just raised. Sadly, outside of normal content, there's really nothing useful for it, such as dungeons (with 3 other members uncapped), trials, and the carnivale included. Something that could be re-worked into the system, if they do not plan to give the job auto-raise or raise casting magic skills.

It would potentially self limit if the cost to cast a Life 3 style spell was high enough considering you'll come back with 0 mana when you raise (unless they change the way death is handled specifically for BLU) not to mention the increasingly lower DPS as you go to weakness then brink of death.

The best thing would be a tank-style death cheat. Long coldown skill that stops you dropping below 1 HP for x seconds.

Friend of mine in FFXI was actually named Voltorb. We made him unlock and level up BLU just to get self destruct for the purpose of screenshotting the message of him using it for later forum shenanigans.

That seems fine to me. BLU still has to "obey the rules" of the game and if the devs do make Angel Whisper's mp requirement equal to other healers, suicide attacks would be left as finishers rather than spammable attacks.

If you are in a party using Self Destruct with others within range, do everyone get killed at the same time?

Suicide attacks are already a full MP loss, due to having to be revived.

So I don't see a self re-raise ability to be too bad.

Reraise was originally a Blue Mage buff from Angel Whisper spell, but for some unknown reason SE didn't include it in this patch. Quote:

I'm pretty sure that you are revived with a small amount of MP when resurrected. I mean, no matter when I was resurrected, I could at least heal myself a bit that instant or attack for a little bit. Not much, but I could.

It is not enough to cast resurrection again.

That's why it would be a good way to balance it. You could suicide once in a while without issues, but you could not do that constantly spamming 1500+ potency attacks like a man possessed. At least, not without someone else to revive you whom you could refill with transfusion every so often, anyway.

I kind of like the skill as is where it can just be used as a high potency finisher against low HP targets.

Having to actively make it a part of your rotation would be awkward, especially when we're bound to get new skills in that regard for the 60/70 cap.
