Where will the Orbonne Monastery lead?

With a week to go, what are we expecting to be hidden under the monastery?
Rabanastre was built over Lesallia.
The Lighthouse turned out to be Goug.
These have so far been Tactics locations hidden within XII locations, but now we start with a Tactics location.

In Tactics, the Orbonne Monastery is a signification location that’s visited twice in the plot, and the second time it leads to the Monastery Vaults beneath it, and a portal to the Necrohol of Mullonde and the Airship Graveyard.
They could just keep that, or the obvious parallel with XII which would be the Necrohol of Nabudis. However, that’s not a very notable location.
The robotic, sniper boss would imply something more high-tech, so perhaps Arcadia? The Necrohol of Arcadia? An Airship graveyard would be a befitting addition to the ruins of Arcadia… and given that Alma appears to be possessed, just like in Tactics, it would make sense to finish in the Airship Graveyard.
Or perhaps the Airship graveyard simply features the ruins of Sky Fortress Bahamut… if so, could ‘the Sky Fortress’ have any ties to Dalamud?

What do you think? What FFXII location do you think/hope is featured?

Arcadia in any form seems unlikely to me; the Garlean Empire fills that equivalent role in FFXIV's setting (large empire to the north that conquers Dalmasca, makes use of airship fleets and has heavily-armored generals, etc.). My money would be on the Great Crystal (or, alternatively, the Great City of Giruvegan) being hidden beneath it; it's a fairly important place in FFXII's plot, and it's also where you fight Ultima in the post-game, which would tie in well with Alma's apparent possession.

I would have thought the same, and it'd be awesome to see Giruvegan, but the robot boss threw me off.
I can see Arcadia or Sky Fortress being Alagan though.

The sniper is odd because it's not from any Ivalice title I recognize. As for Lucavi bosses, we still have Zalera (Gemini), Adrammelech(Aries), Ultima(Virgo), Sel? (Libra), Leviathan?(Pisces), Beelzebub (Cancer), Rophochehe (Sagittarius).

Perhaps the sniper is the sagittarius boss, as a gun could be one modern/ancient tech interpretation of an archer. I doubt we will see the Pisces boss because we had a water themed Matteus already. Zalera could be a fun fight and could involve zombie/heal mechanics. Final boss should be Ultima -The High Seraph. Lore-wise, they can explain the Proto Ultima/Ultima Warrior/Ultima Beast/Ultima Weapon were reverse-engineered from Omega, but they named those weapons after a goddess from Allag legend named Ultima. That way they can get away with having *another* entity named Ultima.

Rophocale was in Rabanastre so the Sagittarius is taken.
I'd like to see Zalera too, we could get Zalera, the sniper thing and Ultima/Altima.

Zalera would be an awesome fight, and I like the idea re: Ultima. Clarifies the distinction between the two, but keeps the Allagans from being played up too much again. Between those two and the sniper boss, that still leaves one more boss in the raid; not sure if that'll be another esper/lucavi like Shemhazai or Adrammelech or another boss from Tactics or one of the other Ivalice games.

I'm craving for Giruvegan and the Grat Crystal. Imagine a set of various teleporters, random rooms, no map and 24 people left in there. I'm pretty sure some woul dget lost for ever :D
As for the bosses, I don't know FF Tactics so I can't say, but I loved FFXII's Ultima and Zalera. But the death theme is kinda already in Mhach, so why not Shemazai, Zeromus or Exodus (with tilting platforms so you can fall to your death)

Nabudis could be interesting too, it fits the ruin-mood we see in the Orbonne pictures.

Ultima is already in the game though, she's an Ascian (she's only appeared once so far, in the 'Ascian Council' cutscene in the Chrysalis during the patch 2.3 story, and she has the original PS1 FFT mistranslated name of 'Altima'... presumedly to avoid confusion with the Ultima Weapon for players who haven't played FFT/FFXII).

I think I'm confusing Duma/Rophocle. Was Algus (screw his WOL name) using Tarus? That boss looked nothing like nor acted like a bull

We see Alma being whisked away and falling into a portal during the trailer. If she's possessed like in FFT, Ultima would make sense. They could also just call her "Seraph" and say she's a primal, both to reference "Ultima-The High Seraph" from FFT/FF12 and the FF6 Esper, "Seraphim".

I can't imagine what other fitting final boss there would be to wrap up Ivalice. While FF12 is somewhat represented in the Ivalice raid, it was mentioned several times they want it to more heavily lean towards the FFT side of Ivalice, hence why both areas start with an FF12 zone (which is around in modern-day Hydaelyn) but give way to an FFT ruin underneath.

Also: I just realize, we never got the "Cancer" lucavi in FFT, however, Construct 8

Also we won't get the Lucavi for Cancer. We never saw it in FFT, but technically Construct 7 was an optional boss at Nelveska Temple and was brought to life with the Cancer stone's power. We never saw Pisces power either because Isilude died while it was in his possession and never formed a pact with it. (Should have been bonus content in WoL version)

It also makes me wonder how much we can go off the maps from FFT and FFXII, as the Monastery is just Northwest of the large southern Peninsula to the Southwest of Lesalia. For FFXII that corresponds to near the Giza Plains, which has tons of ruins in it. Of course with FFXII before FFT and FFXII recent history in FFXIV with Ashe scene in the cut scenes, that is why I wonder about it. Also Goug was on the opposite side of the Peninsula as the Lighthouse, so map there is completely different too. Rabanastre and Lesalia though were in similar places on the maps.

Less than a week till we find out though! Please nothing like Chocobo Savage to unlock it. At least no Riovones Castle!!!!

My running joke so far is that the sniper mech boss is basically Adramme-mech, but of course I know this is unlikely lol. Anyway, since the Pharos was covered in the previous raid I have to agree that the FFXII segment of the new one is most likely going to either be relevant to Giruvegan or possibly the wreckage of Bahamut Sky Fortress, given that they were the other late-game dungeons. I also wonder if Ascian Altima will possess Alma and use her form to become the Lucavi Altima using the Auracite. Ascian involvement in this story would not surprise me in the least. In any case, I do hope a couple of the first set of bosses have the Lucavi battle theme from Tactics, as it would be especially fitting for Zalera if he makes an appearance.

I hope we get the music from the great crystal or something similar to it

FFXII is before FFT, in FFXII, but they are canonically the same universe. But in FFXIV, the FFXII kingdoms came after the FFT kingdoms (Machine City - Goug is underneath the Ridorana Lighthouse, and Lesalia is underneath Rabanastre), but this scenario isn't canon.

I think it's safe to say Mateus fills in the role for the Pisces.
As for Duma, we've technically had him as a final boss twice now. One as Argath Thadalfus (his design is closer to XII's Chaos design; who also isn't really much of a bull in design aside from his chest having a bull skull and shoulder horns), the other for Yiazmat.

I used to think Orbonne would be UNDER wherever the final raid was, following the pattern of FFT locations being "below" (yes, I know technically speaking, Goug is ABOVE Ridoranna) but now that the Monastery's been confirmed as the raid (at least first part) I guessed (fine, a friend had the idea and I liked it :P ) that Lea Monde was under it...and then the Lore Book II mentions Lea Monde being something like Ivalice's "second capital" so now I'm lost, for all I know it'll be the airship graveyard, or Mullonde, or, heck, maybe even Giruvegan...

I was hoping for Lea Monde, but the most recent pictures they have shown of the Monastery being overrun my by vegetation make me think that Lea Monde will not be linked now. I hope to be pleasantly surprised, no matter how things play out.

How it is not? It's a huge part of FF12's backstory, even if in actual gameplay it ended up being an optional area (one that the game more or less explicitly tells you is highly dangerous)

Loads of characters in the game refer to Nabudis (usually in a context of warning, like Reddas's "do not forget Nabudis") as a representation of the dangers of mankind's hubris with regard to nethicite, nethicite being more or less the game's allegory to RL nuclear power.

Honestly I'm hoping the graveyard of airships.

I expect it to be the Great Crystal, and the last boss will most likely be a reused model of FFXII Ultima.

Or Amemiya Keita also designed the final boss and it'll be something new/unique (he made the concepts for Rofocales, Argath and Yiazmat, if I recall). Hopefully something monstrous (Anima levels) and not (yet another) a beautiful lady/waifu, as it'd be a first for this game.

BACKstory being the pertinent word. Not much really happens in the Necrohol of Nabudis, it's what kicks off the story but it's not very unique, it's just a generic city in ruins.

I have to say reading the replies here, I'm liking more and more the idea of The Sky Fortress being the an allagan airship graveyard, having ties to Dalamud, and Alma being possessed by the Ascian Ultima.

Unless Altima was recently trapped within the Virgo Otius Auracite, I'm pretty sure Alma was getting possessed by the Virgo Otius Auracite in the trailer (she could hear it, after all).

Edit: scratch that, I'm getting my Tactics lore mixed into XIV's. Final boss will probably not even be Ultima... given what we know about the Auracites in XIV, it could end up being Tietra, Alma Beoulve, or Ovelia... or whoever else was really close to Delita in XIV's Ivalice :T

But nothing else of note happens there, no character's are seen there, it's not visited in the plot, it's mentioned in side text and as a remark by Basch when you visit there.

I don't get Otius/Duma. Duma was the name of the would-be Lucavi of the Taurus Auracite in FFT, but it never materialized because Mustadio was holding onto it for most of the game. Otius is a new term completely...all I can glean is that it means "lazy" in Latin.

It's alluded to numerous times in the main plot, not just as side text. Its destruction (whose perpetrator you do encounter in the game's main plot, and he clearly displays regret over what happened) is used to clearly establish nethicite as the threat that it is.

Just because it's an optional area in actual gameplay does not make the area unimportant or not noteworthy. If anything, with the game's overarching theme of mankind taking back control over their own destiny (which the Occuria screwed with by giving them nethicite in the first place), it's arguably one of the most important thematic locations in the game alongside the Ridorana Pharos -- the former marking mankind's surrender of their fate to the gods, and the latter marking its reclamation.

Yes, it's important to the plot of XII. However, this is all about fanservice, all the raids are, and I doubt it's notable enough in that regard to warrant inclusion.

I just want to see Cúchulainn, the Impure.

Cuchulainn was already in Void Ark, so you're not likely going to see him again here.

Then again, we got two Halicarnassuseses, so who the hell knows.

I didn't think Garamscythe Waterway was notable enough to be included either, but there it was... even if it was only a long ass hallway in disguise to the third boss in Rabanastre.

Adrammelech is Capricorn - Belias is Aries. Also Mateus is FFXII's Pisces.

So we got a taste of Golmore, The Monastery, The Necrohol of Mullonde, and something that loosely alludes to the Great Crystal…
A little disappointed that all the bosses were Tactics characters, but it makes sense for the plot, and Cid kinda has a bit of Adrammelech to him. Mustadio was a bit weird, would’ve liked Zalera in here really but it wouldn’t make sense having a real bad guy, would compromise the whole ‘a great evil is sealed her under the protection of warriors of light’ thing.
Psyched for some Vagrant Story music though! And the Necrohol looked somewhat like Lea Monde.



One thing I will say about boss #3 , get the markers right. All other mechanics are on you to learn, but if this is wrong you’ll wipe.

In my first and failed attempted, A was placed to the left, B to the right and C to the back.
This was clearly wrong, as the mob that spawned where C was ended up targeting a member of alliance A with a line AoE (me specifically, it’s a golden overhead marker, while the circle/donut AoE is a red one) and when we returned to the main arena, alliance A landed right on top of C’s marker.
This meant that everyone had to run around the arena to get back to their original starting points, and that we couldn’t direct the mob’s line AoE’s to the edge of the arena, causing them to cut across and hit more people.

So remember people. A goes to the back, and I presume B is left and C is right, and take the mob to your right (they don’t spawn exactly on the markers)

Already did 2 runs, with C on the back, and no wipes because of it. We were C on the first run even, and I didn't see the mob targetting anyone outside of the alliance.

Then you took the mob to your left?
Or you should've paid closer attention.

In retrospect it wont necessarily cause a wipe if you get this wrong, but if you're struggling already its going to make it harder, then you're unlikely to survive the mechanics if you dont have enough people up.
