WHM L80 skill, Reverse

Was talking in the discord about this and I think it's a pretty good idea.

Skill: Reverse
Target takes damage to healing and receives healing from damage for a limited time
Requires full Petals and consumes all Petals on use
Up time: 5-10s
Cooldown: 3-5minutes

It'll make petals somewhat useful and can be used on party members or enemies....

Additionally, full heal skills would not would not work on this cooldown/buff, only the base heal skills of each of the three healers.

Ideas? The thought car about on how they could introduce something unique for WHM other than a new cure/stone spell and this is truly one of the more unique buffs in the franchise.

Additionally, if it were introduced it could be an occasional raid mechanic of bosses and whatnot that healers have to watch for.... which would segwey into the additional thought of introducing a dispel ability of sorts

Idk this would kill uptime for all dps and tanks. Seems like a good solo thing however.

You could throw it on a tank though and it's give healers time to dps without worrying about the tank for a bit

This seems like it's a specifically better version of hallowed/holmgang/LD (since not only would they be invuln to damage, they'd also be healed to full in most cases), so giving it to a single healer seems like it'd buff whms a bit too much, unless the other healers also got a skill that could stand in for a HG type ability as well.

Reverse + Benediction = instakill, where i firm? :D

This has extremely high potential for trolling and abuse. Worse that Rescue.

It'd be especially bad if the other Healer wasn't paying attention to Reverse going up and wound up killing everyone.

Have fun using this as an invuln for tank busters in close proximity to raid wide damage. Or just with a Scholar in party in general.

Yeah no thanks. On paper it might sound strong but the only time it would feel safe to use would be in 4 man dungeon content where you don't have other healers around and even then there are moves out there among tanks and dps that heal so you'd have to be actively making sure those weren't up on use while hoping the person you used it on doesn't activate them just as you cast it either. Take that into a group setting like a raid? Now you also have to worry about the person you used it on getting healed by another healer or hit but an aoe heal as you're trying to top off the rest of the group and lets hope no one has a HoT on them like medica II etc. I'd imagine a lot of deaths caused by things like that. All that said it seems like it would be stressful to use and most often better to just heal the target rather than risk it something going horribly wrong.

It doesn't matter to me either way if it were in the game or not. Though, I'm not really sure what more a healer will get kit-wise that'd be a gamechanger at 70. I'm sure healer mains are curious I'm sure.

Making it a damage shield would be preferable I think...or something like reflect, even.

Have it last 3 seconds, force healers to time it perfectly with tankbusters!

I always thought adding more "external cooldowns" like this could be interesting for healers. But that would request a fight with far more frequent tank busters than the ones we currently have.

Reraise and FullLife would be nice. A short duration/long CD Reflect would be a godsend for magical tankbuster.

Troubadour + mages ballad can wipe the party with a button press during attacks that put the party down to 1HP (common in raids), have you ever seen anyone troll with that?

An interesting idea, but I can see two problems:

1. Something that requires full lilies won't work unless the entire lily mechanic is reworked (as it should TBH). WHM has too many abilities that consume lilies and too little incentive to use abilities that generate lilies. It would require planning and preparation to have a full three lilies up at the time Reverse is needed.

2. It's extremely dangerous in content with multiple healers. If the other healer isn't paying constant attention to this specific thing they can very easily end up killing the target Reverse was supposed to save. With the amount of other things also requiring attention slip-ups will likely happen more often than not.

healers already have a lot of mechanics to look out for, especially for o12s. To me this sounds like a free Tank LB3 every 3-5 minutes.

Every tank has a form of self-heal. PLD has Clemency, DRK Soul Eater/Sole Survivor and WAR Thrill of Battle/Inner Beast/Storm's Path/Steel Cyclone/Equilibrium. If they executes any of those, they'll be damaged intead. And there is also those DPS who have any heal themselves (such as RDM's Vercure or SMN's Physick or melee's Second Wind). Any of those will harm badly if reversed.

And I would also add a 3: it will affect the balance in general. Specially if reverse affects enemies. Not only healers.

For instance, during the reverse debuff, both PLD and WAR will have a DPS tool that does 1,200 POT damage (Clemence and Equilibrium) while DRK will have nothing to keep on par. RDM will have a spammable 700-pot (350+350) DPS tool that ignores their entire rotation while Reverse is on the monster/boss. And not looking at healers, where WHM can easily IK (Reverse + Benedicion) or apply a 1,700 potency damage (Cure II + Tetragrammaton + Assize) with just 1 GCD (some DPS takes several GCDs to make the same dmg), while the WHM can add an extra GCD to apply a "DoT" on the target (Regen or Regen+Largesse) doing 150~180 potency damage every 3 seconds for 21 seconds (what would add up to 1,260 potency damage to the stones/aero rotation). It would leave all the healers slightly OP in comparison with any DPS.

I don't think the idea is entirely bad, but it's a little too powerful. The cooldown would need to be long enough that it's usable once per fight only really.

One random thought thinking about changes to it, rather than just absorbing damage. Make them unable to receive any heals (basically any heals just do 0), but heals the person for like double of all damage received. They'd still need to survive the hits but then they get the HP back and then some.

To be honest, you would have to follow up on Kuribu for Reverse. Make it cause your healing magic to deal damage so that WHM actually has a stance shift(keeping true to what it used to be in ARR with Cleric Stance). It’d be their DPS stance, but Reverse would change their abilities(outside oGCDs except for Asylum).

Reverse: Changes all of your healing spells into damage.

Duration: 15s
CD: 90s

Bleed: Deals 400 Healing potency as Damage. Replaces Cure during Reverse.

Bleed II: Deals 700 Healing potency as Damage to a single target. Replaces Cure II during Reverse.

Bleed III: Deals 550 potency Healing as Damage to all enemies in a small radius. Replaces Cure III during Reverse.

Wound: Deals Damage over time to a Target. Replaces Regen during Reverse.
Potency: 150
Duration: 21s

Mass Bleed: Deals 300 potency to enemies within a large radius.

Mass Wound: Deals 200 potency and Damage over time to enemies within a large radius.
Wound Potency: 50
Duration: 30s

As for Asylum...

Bedlam: Deals Damage over time within the bubble. Shares a recast timer with Asylum. Can only be used during Reverse.
Potency: 100
Duration: 24s

Actually you could see something similar to what Radiant Shield used to be. Putting a shield on a party member (based on heal potency or HP%) and instead of just being consumed, the shield would inflict the damage (or a percentage) to the enemy. This would need to take into account a lot of things (max HP, DPS figures, heal potency etc.) but could be interesting in a WHM kit as an eefective rework into 'healer that damages a lot while healing'

Thematically this should be an AST skill, not WHM.
