getting kicked from end game pfs as soon as I join?

So a couple PFs I have joined for Alphascape Savage today and yesterday I was kicked from almost instantly, and every time I make a PF no one joins it? I am super confused about this, is it becasue I main Sam or is it because of FFlogs? I have heard a lot of people refusing to run with people who don't have good parses on FFLogs so idk...

edit: If i was kicked because of some kind of bad rep i have on my data center I would like to know about that too because I am completely lost on this I am on Aether Btw!

tbh I don't know much about logs I can try to figure out how to do that, thank you for the advice!

Your best bet would probably be to run the content with friends if possible. The unpleasant part of the ffxiv community is very present in raid content.

I find it unlikely that you are kicked because you are a SAM because if the pf leader didn't want sams they would've simply locked them out so you wouldn't be able to join in the first place. I also find it unlikely that you were kicked due to being a grey because I've partied with way more grey players for weeklies and clear the content just fine without anyone being kicked on sight. So I am more inclined to believe that you are either trolling/baiting here or you are hiding some crucial information that would make you look bad and have gain some sort of notoriety around cross world pf on your datacenter that has cause people to kick you on sight.

If I saw someone with hidden fflogs, I'd be more inclined to believe the player knows of their poor performance and is unwilling to improve.

It is extremely likely and has happened to me alot as Samurai before i even had logs.
People will just throw default pf up and just not care and kick people if they want a nin or drg etc etc.

I find it unlikely that unless he's joining Clear parties, logs are any type of concern.

The best way to find out is to simply ask. One can't improve without knowing what's wrong. Also a good reason to actually check out your battle logs... gotta know what you're (not) doing.

Just by doing a quick look, it seems like one or two things: either you joined one of those parties that want high DPS and what was found on your FFLOGs was seen as a problem by the party leader; or it's because of the fact that you've hidden your logs, which tends to carry a negative stigma behind it. Could possibly help more if we knew what your logs looked like, so at least somebody could offer up something that could potentially explain this - that is, if you don't have some rep on the PF. Still, not all PFs are like this, so it could just be a case of some bad luck with a few groups.

There is plenty of negativity outside of the raid community. Unpleasantry isn't limited to just raiders.

It's not unpleasantry to not want to carry someone who underperforms when you step into Savage content. It's not unpleasantry to want someone who will perform their role adequately and not be dead weight.

Because 9 times out of 10, those who hide their logs don't have stellar ones to begin with. And a lot of parties for weekly clears do not want to deal with a mystery box of a player if they're looking to get in and get out. And the party leader is well within their rights to kick players as they see fit from their party.



To OP: I doubt you're getting kicked specifically because of your job of choice. Most Aether parties I see are either completely open for roles or they already have locks in place - and the only reason you would be locked out of groups is if they have already met their requirements for melee, or there is another Striking melee in the group who doesn't want to fight you for loot (like a MNK).

More than likely you're being removed due to joining a party for the wrong reasons (e.g., you've joined a weekly 2 chest group but haven't actually cleared the content), or you have consistently bad logs - multiple greys with no visible signs of improvement are a thing some players do not want to deal with in Savage. I would suggest working on improvements to your performance if you truly think this is why you are being removed from groups.

Based on the so little information present, I seriously doubt it's because of any FFlogs. Any time I see people getting kicked or avoided it's because the person is a well-known troll on their data center and other raiders will blacklist people like that to avoid their parties. Is that the case? Idk

I honestly don't know how you can go about figuring that out other than changing your name and see if that changes anything.

If I've done a fight 50 times and of those 50 some random person uploaded 2 runs to fflogs. It's by no means an accurate representation of my ability.

There's basically 2 ways you can go. One is hide your logs entirely.

2 is parse and upload every single encounter you do. In order to maintain an accurate representation of your abilities.

1 is infinitely easier than 2. And 2 is impossible anyway for many players on the ps4 or lower end pcs.

Uh, don't do this. People who hide their logs are almost immediately ostracized because people assume you have something to hide. I cannot exactly fault the mentality. After all, why hide your logs unless they're exceptionally bad? In which case, the PF leader is rightfully concerned you will hold the group back. People are under no obligation to carry you through a clear simply because you want one.

Nonetheless, I... have to agree with Apple Jinx here. We're missing an important detail because people typically aren't kicking anyone unless their FFlog page is hidden, extremely low or they've consistently screwed up mechanics. SAM may get meme'd on but people don't kick them on site without a reason, especially since they can merely lock the party slots if they didn't want a SAM.

If you've done the fight fifty times, you have fifty parses which you could upload. Why are only two there? Contrary to popular belief, most players don't actually care if you're spotting greens or your median is trash, especially in a pug setting. I am far more apprehensive when I see hidden logs because I have no information to go on except your word. And a lot of people lie about their experience levels in this game. You're essentially demanding people potentially waste their time without giving them any frame of reference to work with, all because you don't want to upload parses. You don't have to like it, but it's their party and their rules. Personally, I won't kick immediately, however I will be far less patient with any mistakes you make because I almost have suspicions you're hiding something. Should you start screwing up mechanics, you're only confirming said suspicions whereas if I could see your parses, I might be more inclined to help.

When you have 1 or 2 greens or greys, people generally don’t think much of them—they may be hesitant, but they won’t get too up in arms over it. Especially if you have other logs that are higher in other categories—everyone has bad runs. But when you have a string of nothing but green/grey and it is spread consistently across multiple categories, that’s fairly representative of your overall performance even if it isn’t every single run of every piece of content that you’ve ever done.

If you've cleared it fifty times, you either elected not to run ACT—therefore you chose not to parse—or miraculously came across equally minded people 96% of your clears, thus they didn't upload anything either. The likelihood of this borders on impossible given how ubiquitous parsers are in Savage content nowadays. Someone is virtually guaranteed to be running one. And they are quite likely to upload it. If it isn't Savage... no one cares.

the only fights that come to mind that anyone has done 50+ times are extreme primals, and I dont think people really care about parses for those as the DPS checks are super light and get lighter as time goes on. I've only encountered people looking up peoples' logs when we're progging Savage and have to replace a static member through PF so we can gauge whether or not we'll make the DPS check.

I still think the OP's problem is likely related to something other than parses.

I just want to say it may just be the people you are trying to party with. If anyone here looks at my logs (feel free cause I'm always trying to be my co tank in dps even though it probably wont ever happen) then you will see that I parse grey most of the time but clear just fine with no deaths.

EDIT: Unless its on O10S and I get clipped by Hot Tail from 100 feet away

Did you tried to whisper the party leader for the reason why the kicked you? There is also a valid reason why you got kicked. If you want to know, just ask them.
If you got kicked instantly, you did something wrong (didnt read party description or no reaction on group chat) or you got a really bad rep on your datacenter.

I dont think its about logs or classes (except ppl want no double class for wrong reasons). Hiding your logs wont solve your problems. If I would open a raid party, I would even prefer grey logs over no logs/hidden logs.

I'm kind of ambivalent about FFlogs anyway. On one hand, I can understand why someone running savage-level raids would want to know the general skills of the players in their party. For PF though it seems kind of like overkill.

On the other hand, that's MY data that I didn't give anyone permission to use. I don't like that just a facet of your performance can be ripped out of your hands like that and uploaded for the world to see without you having any say in it.

OP I'm not sure what to tell you.. there have been times when people get kicked because the raid leader's friend is on and they want to get them a clear or something like that. Nothing personal to you, but that doesn't make it sting any less, I know. I main SAM on my main character too so if I got kicked JUST for being a SAM, well, it's their loss.

It just means you didn’t tickle their fancy just move on, I have only seen this once and usually those parties end up toxic and unable to clear content anyways! I have disgusting parses for V3s because I keep dying to the flamethrower, missile drop mechanic before Panto 2 because well healing but still I have not been kicked from a pf yet.

I very much agree with the rest of your post but I just don't think it's fair to look at fflogs this way. The only time your performance is your own is when you're doing something solo. The rest of the time, good or bad, you aren't 100% responsible for or in control of those numbers to begin with much less enough so that you have any ownership over them.

While I never recommend it to anyone either hiding your logs is technically an option available to everyone. In situations like the OP is talking about I would say hiding logs is closer to an admission of guilt than anything though - very few people want to hide when they're doing well at something. I've partied with some people via PF with really sketchy fflogs pages and quite a few of then turned out to be completely fine.

Judging someone by their logs (especially when there aren't a lot of them) is silly but judging someone for deliberately hiding their performance is just common sense and healthy skepticism.

i have literally never seen anyone get kicked just for having grey parses so i find it extremely unlikely that OP is giving us the whole story here.

I only see people get kicked in savage pfs if they repeatedly fail the same mechanic and/or refuse to communicate with the party when needed, or have a reputation for doing those things.

It has been covered extensively already, but hiding your logs will be doing you no favours at all. It just makes you look like an exceptionally bad player who has something to hide. The real question here is what kind of parties were you trying to join? What floors were they? Were they practice or weekly clear runs?

For O9 and O10 kill runs I honestly doubt anyone would care if you had grey percentiles as long as your logs show that you are competent and can kill the content. Especially if the rest of the party are good and can pick up the slack. For O11 and 12 then it might become more of an issue as the DPS checks are a lot tighter.
If it was practice parties that you were joining then it matters even less as there isn't an expectation to clear the fight. Of course there is still an expectation that you know the basics such as your rotation etc; which again if you hide your logs gives off a very bad impression.

So, how is it determined who “owns this performance more”? How is it determined who “owns the right to upload” or “the right to deny an upload”?
It simply cannot be. This is not a black-and-white situation of “it’s mine, not yours, so you can’t do it because I say so”.

You pretty much answered your own question. Broadly, you have bad parses and people can see that on FFLOGs (which doesnt help you, of course), you are running Sam (which a lot of groups dont like outside of O12S from what I understand), or your reputation precedes you. You can gauge the last one pretty easily by playing a class thats equally geared and in demand (DRG as an example) and seeing if you get kicked almost immediately. If they hang onto you, its likely not a rep thing but probably being SAM. Also, just so you know even if you block your logs on FFLOGS, some groups will kick you anyways as theyll see it as you hiding something (aka you are a baddie in their eyes and are trying to hide it).

As for making your own group, Doing so as a DPS is gonna be harder especially if youre off meta. People generally look for parties that already have a few people in them, or have tanks/healers set.

Just to expand on this, your damage is gonna be group reliant to a fairly good extent. What buffs you get, how well the healers or tanks are playing, how much other DPS are doing, etc will affect your "performance". As a point, youll do higher DPS in a good comp than you would solo against a training dummy typically. So it's not "just your performance and no one elses." Its very much a group activity, and there's no real way to pull just your performance out of it because of how things interact in party play.

I'm sure OP is just infamous in his data center now and getting kicked on sight. I know a couple who are like that on Aether.

The easy fix would be make fflogs opt in not out.

as for the groups performance and who owns the data then i think that comes down to how the data is presented. I mean the new GDPR privacy thing basically says you cant hold or use any data that can be identifiable without express consent of the individual being identified..

that said what you could do is upload your parses if you want but any players who hadn't opted in or consented to fflogs would have to be anonymised so anyone looking at that particular parse would just see monk or dragoon. and while they could see how that monk or dragoon or entire performed they wouldnt be able to identify them without consent...


thing is doing this would eliminate a ton of the negative stigma around logs and parsers in general. and it would still allow players who wanted to show off or compete for high numbers or super fast kills. the chance to have some bragging rights. while at the same time preventing it from being misused on random players who have no interest in the site

I would hazard that making it opt in by choice would actually break algorithms and skew the ranking system on FFLOGS. For things like the logs to work (or any data driven thing to work), the more data you put into it, the better typically.

People upload logs for personal bests and things, but it also catches up other people's stuff. Broadly, most raiding groups look specifically at things like Savage, and are more concerned with improvement over time. The exception being if your damage output is so drastically low that it begs the question of what are you doing (doing 1k dps at a DRG, for example, in O9S). If your dps looks decent, most raid groups will trial you.

This is already a thing—if you scroll through rankings, there are users that are listed as Anonymous. These are players that have hidden their logs, but a ranking for them still exists in the site’s data. You just don’t know who they are, but you can still see the numbers.

Re: Extremes and Normal Mode—while logs exist for these, they are certainly not what statics look at when they’re recruiting for Savage groups. Me personally, I only upload them when I’m bored and want to push towards high rankings because lul why not? I’m strictly memeing at that point. But they have little bearing on what midcore to hardcore Savage groups would think of me: they’re going to be looking at my Savage logs (current and possibly past tiers) and any Ultimate logs I have. Not my Suzaku Ex logs.

Only time Ex logs would be taken into consideration is if you say you are brand new to raiding and wanting to get into it. Then a group that you talk to may look at them. But they will still, more than likely, but you through a trial to see how you handle Savage first-hand.

Thanks for reminding me to hide my logs. Not that there is anything worth seeing as I haven't touched savage since O2S and never will again.

Point is I shouldn't even be listed on fflogs to begin with. Needs to be opt-in, not out.

I understand. Because it is a group effort, I understand why someone would want to see your specific contribution in that specific fight. Unfortunately that's all they see and they very much do judge a book by its cover (or a parse by its color, in this case). You can't explain "well, I was down with the flu" or "we were still learning the fight at that point." or whatever. It doesn't tell the whole story or make up the whole picture of you as a player.

Of course, any time I bring this up, people ask "why are you against it? You must have something to hide!" But to those people I'd simply reply:

"Glass bathroom stalls."

Could you imagine glass bathroom stalls being installed in public restrooms? (mock outrage) What? You think that's crazy? Well why are you against it? You must have something to hide!

Just because you have nothing to hide doesn't mean you shouldn't want privacy. Maybe I don't want my specific contribution shared. That should be my prerogative. But hiding it immediately causes a reflex reaction of "you must be hiding it because you're bad."

It would also allow bad players to sneak their way into parties and waste people's time. This notion bad FFlog parses will lead to wanton kicks from pug groups is a boogeyman created by bad players trying to deflect responsibility. It simply doesn't happen. At least not with any regularity. The only time your FFlogs page may be held against you is if you're joining weekly clear parties and have never parsed above 20%. And in that case, you're a liability to the group. Stay in learning groups and learn how to perform your job better in harder content instead of wasting other people's time because you couldn't be bothered to do better. If you're relatively consistent, even if your numbers are average at best, this will never be an issue for you.

Just because categories doesn't mean they are treated equally. Some groups like to meme around with Primals, however parses from there aren't treated as anything noteworthy. If you look at any static recruitment page or discord, they will want your Savage experience. When it comes to FFlogs, Savage is the only thing people treat seriously, Ultimate notwithstanding.

Putting that nonsense aside. It doesn't matter if you were sick, Mom told you to clean your room or your goldfish burst into flames. Very few people care. What they do care about are results. Even if you had a legitimate excuse for all ten gray parses, you're still liability because whatever distracts you in real life impacts the group. Consistency is key here. Low parses aren't going to matter if you also have plenty of decent ones to go alongside them. Someone who consistently posts no higher than 30% is likely to have mechanical issues that doesn't involve exploding goldfish.

Just because you have nothing to hide doesn't mean you shouldn't want privacy. Maybe I don't want my specific contribution shared. That should be my prerogative. But hiding it immediately causes a reflex reaction of "you must be hiding it because you're bad."

I may be the crazy one here but I would gladly allow every log of everything I've ever been in be public to everyone ever than to be naked in front of strangers and using the restroom.

But no, none of this is a rebuttal. You could be hiding perfectly respectable logs but in my experience people with hidden logs perform worse than people with open ones only showing grey. That is also the experience (it seems) of most other people who think to look at fflogs when bringing a random player into Savage. It might not be the case with you specifically, you may be really great, but when it's snap judgment time I'm not putting my money on a slim chance.
