This likely won't happen ass crafting/gathering are major money makers and as such you kind of have to "earn it" by getting through the levels. I was put off at first too, but now have all crafters and gatherers at 70, it's actually a lot easier than it sounds. Gatherer's just requires a 2nd monitor to watch TV on while you grind away with XP boosting scrolls for a really long time. Do ALL class quests as unlike DoW/M they actually grant a LOT of XP.
Crafters, also do class quests but make friends with levequests, never submit anything but HQ items and you'll be surprised you can pound through 5-10 levels off the right one with 99 leves. I just grind out the mats with gatherers while waiting for leves to build back up. Gatherers I "rushed" to 70, crafters just take it slow, you'll get there.
Completely agreed. The beast tribe dailies for crafting are EXTREMELY useful for EXP and make it a bit less stressful in my opinion. When I ran out of my dailies yesterday, I was at 57 CRP. I did a few leves, and I was already at 60. I have a lot of allowances stored up, but I only needed a very small amount considering each turn-in at that point gave me nearly 1 million experience points since I was crafting at HQ.
They might be "money makers" if you are geared, melded & have a working rotation.
But for New Players they are a Gil sync, more gil than we make from leveling & doing dailys e.t.c. (Speaking from experiance 9 days left on my first 30 days) The gear to buy to even make some items for quests isnt on the market & we can only level 1 class really which removed the ability to make it as a factor. Same for DOL ability to gather items isn't there. Also drop rate from monsters is the worst out of any game i've ever seen so also not always there.....
This really is a terrible game for new players now after 3 expansions, its a shame older players actually went through this cancer.
If they wont sell booster packs for DOL/DOH which are really needed for new players then they should sell GiL (Shame as a subscription game they are even selling overprices items at more than many Free to Pay MMO's prices.)
I've never been the type of person to say something like this, but my goodness you're entitled. That's like asking to buy an account with all classes maxed out with max ilevel gear. What's the point of playing at that point. And leveling DoL/DoH classes back in 2.x wasn't hard either. Just different methods. The whole point of the game is to spend your time playing. Not just having the max level and going "look I'm max level in this class". If you don't like doing it, do something else. Maybe don't resub.
Why are they needed for new players? DOH/DOL are not required to play or progress through the game, if anything they are more like side content which is completely optional, but leveling them does offer benefits. It's completely fine to have friends or know other people that can craft/gather for you, so there isn't really much urgency for the player themselves to do the leveling unless they really need/want to
Also as it's been mentioned, it's extremely easy to level up DOH/DOL with things like beast tribes, levequests and other players helping out.
You might want to rethink that, i pointed out a small part in what i said, But i suggest starting over & leveling a class to 70 then come back & restate that so i can reply accordingly!
(heres some hints of issues: Meld, Advanced Meld, repair costs e.t.c. Which you need the Specific class to do) While not required they are also required if you want/need them done in Your Time & not waiting on other peoples time. Theres also the costs involved if you can't do them yourself, which as pointed out (elsewhere) is part of a larger probliem with the economy... Well lack of!
To top this off theres also another bigger issue than the costs, lack of gil & lack of gear on the market is the Lack of shards, crystals, Clusters to even level them, you get a fair few from leve's but not enough to keep going.
I highly suggest you & Squre Enix take the time to level from 0. you will see all these issues clear as DAY! So obvious even blind people could see them.
They could also fix the issue well with DOH, DOL isnt as bad. But making monsters actually drop stuff (fix drop rate) & making new monsters drop old drops rather than all new items.
&/OR DOH starting at 50-60 so its relevant to current content with another expansion coming, so they can at least level. But they would also need to fix the shard/crystal/cluster issue/s.
This would mean they actually have access to mats via market place & can level the class without current issues. Which Could be Server to Server issues possible as well, something to take into concideration. Theres clearly a few RMT's selling some items but most are sold out.
Simple fix for obvious probliem If they don't want to Cash Shop it.
I don't understand why you need him to be 70 to offer an opinion since you don't have a 70 crafter yourself and his crafters are still higher than yours, not to mention he has 15 lvl 70 dow/dom to your 1, but anyway i'm not clear on why anyone would spend that much real money to lvl that many jobs.
You should start leveling your gatherers 1st and keep their lvls above your crafters so you will never need to buy a matt or crystal from the marketboard.
Also lvl all of your crafters in groups (all to 15 then all to 30 ect) you will save inv space on both materials and gear
Sell your xtra items while you lvl your gatherers to keep making gil, learn the marketboard and see the things that sell, we still need low lvl matts for a lot of things.
And while you are at it what are you doing with all of your mendacity? Your crafters don't need it now so you can sell those mendacity matts to make $
Also don't worry about materia or hq gear until you cap you don't need either until lvl 70.
And mabye next time do some leveling yourself before you try telling someone else to
If this were possible, SE would make absolute bank off of it. And this is coming from someone who has all crafters and gatherers max leveled and melded (I love crafting/gathering!)
Beast tribes do make it a lot less painful but in the beginning it is a huge pain, and they really could do something to boost the XP around the 40-50 stages
After you said this...
You haven't really played the game enough to be commenting on me leveling my own jobs when as someone as already stated, they are still higher than your own, (though it isn't really necessary to bring up anyway). But people can use alts on the forums which don't represent all their characters in the game, so trying to stat shame doesn't really hold much sway.
My experience with leveling crafters/gathers has been fine, and maybe if I enjoyed those classes they would be max level, but it's not really of much interest to me. I still know my options on how to level and how effective each method is, so all I can say is don't expect everything to be handed so easily within just 30 days.
I levelled from 1-70 on all of my DoH and DoL during Stormblood- check the date on my achievements if you don't believe me. You seriously overstate how difficult it is. A few gathers and crafts per day for GC turn ins, beast tribes and completing the crafters and gatherers log for the bonus xp all make it way too easy- and that's without even considering leves! Heck, past 50 gatherers become a breeze because of collectibles.
If you CHOOSE to buy materials and gear instead of gathering and crafting them yourself, then yes, it will be expensive. But only because you CHOOSE to pay for convenience. Honestly, it's optional content and a boost would just cheapen the effort of those who have put the work in.
Adding level boost to DoH and DoL can trow balance of. Being certain items are needed to rank up or advance content is best to just let people level it up and learn the mechanics. DoW and DoM is pretty straight forward and can be done regardless of skill and basic to learn unlike other disciplines which require attention on their actions in order to produce a product. Besides it's not hard to make gill and most can just do leves with HQ items. That or ask FC members to get you the items. After all FC's are suppose to help memebrs right? Oh wait most only care about their progression lol time to get a sugar daddy or get married.
Sing me up I will buy it.
I’m not being serious here, but if they add boosts for DoL and DoH, they should add boosts for Eureka.
Then if they add boosts for Eureka, they should add story skip for 24 person raids.
Then if they add story skip and level boosts for those, they should add level boost for Chocobo companion.
Then if they add those they should add story skip to Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High.
Then if they add those they should add story skip for raids.
Cause, we all know real endgame is complaining on the forums that we are bored with nothing to do?
My favorite part about this is the portion of the people who do this and haven't even finished leveling a class/job yet. There is ALWAYS something to do, even if that something doesn't really provide much of a benefit to you to do. For example, let's say that, hypothetically, you have completed all of the content in the game, farmed everything worth farming, collected everything worth collecting, leveled every class/job to max level, the hypothetical "everything" if you will to the point where you can no longer make any progress. As far as making progress goes, there's nothing left to do. However, there's still a LOT you can do even once your progress can no longer move forward. You can still gather materials, you can still run dungeons/trials/raids/guildhests/etc, you can still craft, you can still stroll the streets of Ul'dah selling Chocobo Feathers, you can still sit there and stare at people as they go about their own business, you can still visit the newbies and watch them begin their adventures in Eorzea (and preferably offer them a helping hand every now and then), you can explore and try to find secrets and details you might have missed, you can even.... dare I say it! Dare I do! You can even make a new character and start from scratch! After all, we have what? 40 character slots overall if I remember correctly? Plenty to do. You just have to be willing to do the do!
As for the OP and his suggestion, I will have to agree with some of the others here in that I don't think this should be a thing. Crafting and Gathering can produce some of the strongest gear to use while leveling and gearing. This would throw the entire market of the game out of balance to just be handed "free" levels and gear to be used for Crafters/Gatherers. Even ignoring the market aspect of why this is a bad idea, there's a significant amount to learn and master about the DoH/L classes/jobs (Crafting, at least, I haven't glimpsed Gathering in this game yet) that doesn't exist within other MMOs, such as having to have appropriate gear on and ACTUALLY making the item manually at least once before you can take the easier route of Quick Synthesis. There's even the chance that the craft could fail, and thus you lose the items, meaning you have to take care in how you handle the materials as you craft (much like you would in real life).
Is it a grind to level Crafters and Gatherers? Yes, it certainly can be, but you're playing an MMO for Hydaelyn's sake. MMOs are all about the grind. If you remove all of the grind by offering, albeit optional, paid conveniences to skip everything, then it's not really a game anymore. Rather, it becomes a Pay-to-Win pile of BS.
