My static will be broken after 4.5, please consider pushing the changes to 5.0

Our static is split between Brynhildr, Hyperion and Famfrit.

6 people are from Bryn, one from Hyperion, and one from Famfrit.

The majority of us cannot use the server transfer service because many of us will lose our FCs and personal connections.

We are an average raid group, we run 4-6 hours a week...we got omega savage down to 35% since it was released. There is no way in hell we are clearing S12 before the end of january, especially since christmas will be a mini-break.

I understand the need for a new data center, but can you PLEASE do this on 5.0 instead? It is going to be extremely difficult to replace permanent members late into the raid tier, we're willing to start a new raid group on the new expansion since its going to be a hard reset for the content.

Please push this change before ruining our static's progression, thank you.

Also let me clarify: Server Transfers are not an option, free or not...money is not the issue here. If people transfer they will have to choose between their FC or the static.

I'll accept the fact that I might have to replace people in the future, but ideally it should be when a new raid tier starts, not in the middle of an existing one...thats my compromise if you can call it that.

I really hate the position Sqaure has put me in with this crap, just give me the damn stability issues I will tough it out just to stay in touch with people from Balmung.

It was bound to happen if we wanted better servers. Aether and Primal were unstable.

If I remember correctly the new data centers aren't going active until we near the release of shadowbringers, it won't be happening at 4.5

Wait, so is the change really happening during 4.5? Although I am don't really care about how the servers are shuffled as it doesn't really affect me much. But I too believe that it's a bad decision to go through with the shuffle earlier than 5.0's release.

Not possible. Or rather, the only way it would be possible was if they managed to get a data center that was significantly larger and more powerful than what they have. But that's not very feasible. That would take years and by then the current ones could very well be fried. Not to mention the immense costs. Doubling the size of a datacenter costs more than doing two separate ones each worth half due to the fact that all the physical servers (and one server can be several, dozens or even hundredths of computers) need to be connected with each other properly. Something that takes time, high quality parts, a lot of logistics etc. The more stuff you need to connect together the more it costs. Just look at the hardware prices. You get a lot for every buck you pay between low and mid class hardware, but when you reach the high tier, the more you pay the less you get for your buck instead.

And they cannot just make empty data centers while the old ones would burn either.

This is something I agree with though. It is close enough to the next expansion that they could try pushing it further. Unless there will be an immediate and significant benefit to this move, there is no reason not to.

The EU split is bullshit

They said they're doing it at the tail end of 4.5. Probably one or two months before the next expansion, likely sometime in April or May. It's NOT going to be happening immediately once 4.5 releases.

This data center split has basically killed all interest fan fest might have generated, and we don't even have much time to process/make plans to mitigate how horrible this change is... What a complete disaster... Goes perfectly with the Shadowbringer trailer though, I assume this is the Calamity they mentioned and the whole idiotic idea is the history that needs to be unwritten.... 10/10 story telling, if nothing else!

I get why SE are doing these changes to the data centres, but I feel that 4.5 is too soon.

That doesn't give enough time for people such as op to act upon this. It's hard enough to get eight people together without having to potentially reorganise what servers you're playing from and if you want to stick together. On top of that recruitment can be a lengthy process so finding replacements can eat up even more time.

SE should have announced this at 4.4 launch at the latest. Ideally before the summer.

2.0 has already destroyed 3 FCs that I joined, because most contents since 2.0 are solo only and duty finder,

My FCs were very active in 1.2x, now most members in these FCs had unsubbed

Didn't they say that there'd be free transfers for the worlds being moved? And that it was going to be in the second half of 4.5 not the first half?
That's 4-5 months to figure out what you're doing and who's moving where to stay together if they want to.

There is far more than enough time for people to get things sorted out and if one particular group can't, oh well.

More time to choose which bad deal you take doesn't change the fact that you're picking between two bad deals. It's not terribly professional to put the customer in a position like this, but I guess that's just the kind of practice I'm starting to expect from SE these days...

Honestly I think they could probably have just added one new data center, with a single RolePlay server on it, and that would solve most of the issues... Just slap some gimmick on it to entice people over there (sort of like how they talked about an actual PvP server with constant open world PvP, something like that but for RP, marrying NPCs perhaps), suddenly you take the load off the rest of the data centers. I'm not buying this. They literally cited Balmung's congestion issue as part of their reason yet that instability only occurred during the initial two weeks after Stormblood launched. Their other excuse was the issues regarding Pipin and Raubahn except they created that mess themselves by foolishly putting an instance ten quests into the MSQ when there was no branching content to slow people down. Yoshida outright admitted it was their fault when they did it again during Delta/Sigma. Apparently, he just couldn't tell the dev team "no" because they were excited. Regardless, this whole reshuffle hinges on people not simply transferring back to Aether en masse. If that does happen, well, now they have the exact same problem they were trying to mitigate.

It was bound to happen because SE continues to be stubborn and not fix the netcode that causes data transfers that should not exist, and the fact they are using outdated tech for their servers (unless the netcode is really THAT bad to give a feel, whatever the case, they should be addressing THAT, not making players keep paying and paying for SE's shortcomings.

4.5 is too soon on top of things we need time to plan if this is really the route going to be taken

lastly the reimbursement of housing is way too small, and what about FC houses? I should be free to pick the server I need to go to without housing worries. SE is really falling short with this change and housing.

This is something I agree with though. It is close enough to the next expansion that they could try pushing it further. Unless there will be an immediate and significant benefit to this move, there is no reason not to.

and what happened to all the money the players gave them? With all the money we gave them, we should get upgraded data centers, this is a triple A company, so tried of SE acting like an indie developer

There was no way they were going to keep everyone happy.

The move was needed and they had to make the choice to try and spread the population out. I'd love the game to have a megaserver type setup like GW2 but that isn't happening.

Do you prefer to take a bandaid off slowly or just rip it off fast to get it over with. The longer they wait the move entrenched people will become.

Take some sage advice and consider why you are with your guild, why you are on your world, and why your with a static to begin with. Play the game with the people that help you with your goals and generally enjoy playing the game with, then follow those people where ever it is.

P.S. I used the word guild because I want people to think about what a guild is suppose to be, a group of like minded players with like minded goals.
