Is Eureka going away?

I mean, there's so many people who complain about it, but at the same time, Square Enix keeps adding stuff to it. What do you think the future will entail?

I've done Anemos a lot. Currently level 15 in it. As much as I'm not really having a blast, I honestly don't mind it. I'm willing to go through it as long as I get better gear.

I haven't even gotten to Eureka yet and I can already tell it's like my neighbors who constantly insist on revving their hot rod engine for 30 minutes late at night and wake up the rest of the block. It's annoying and it isn't going to go away.

Eureka will finish out with this Relic through 4.x and in 5.2 (most likely) we will see what they go with.

That being said, Pyros and the logos system have started to redeem Eureka a little bit, but it remains to be seen if that will be good enough or not.

Oh you poor sweet innocent Roe. Just you wait till you get to the frozen HELL Pagos. Maybe the crap RNG will be fixed by the time you get there. Doubtful though.

Hope it goes away. Since they can't make it even fun and handle lag in there. Get rid of all rng in there and fix bunny fates so ones that does it gets a bunny. Fix it where ones that show up late doesn't get a bunny over those that's been there since the start of the fate. Eureka is very bad do 12 bunny fates and never get bunny once how that make you want even play that content when need them for the relic. Eureka is plain waste of time how it is now.

Eureka is most likely here to stay with continued tweaks and variations as time goes on. (See potd to HoH) Everyone just complains cuz of the echo chamber this game has. It’s honestly not even that bad when you compare eureka to an actual MMO grind. A lot of people are over exaggerating. Not saying it’s perfect but good god do we need “eureka is bad.” Thread number 5 quantillion?

...are you going to stay in there?

I mean, some people want it to go away, but diadem is still here, hanging on. The end result for Eureka will probably be an RP hotspot.

I prefer the actual MMO grind because you can get varied drops from monsters and typically as you level higher the drops get better.

Eureka's "grind" consists of AFK'ing at the base and waiting for NM's to spawn and when they spawn then shouting 'invite to NM please' and rushing to the NM then returning back to base after it has been defeated. It's boring and predictable.

There's no doubt in my mind that once 5.0 is out Eureka will become dead content.

I fear the metrics will tell them it was a success, possibly even the most successful iteration of relic grinds.

They've held on fast to the basic formula since Diadem was introduced and have been making tweaks to it for two whole expansions, culminating in what Eureka is today. There's no way they aren't going to continue to tweak the content and present it in the next expansion. They've come way too far and are far too stubborn to abandon the idea completely. However that just means we're likely to get another iteration come whatever the next expansion is called. The Eureka as we know it, like Losara said, is going to be dead content by then unless they find some way to force it to remain relevant.

Eureka will remain, but once 5.0 arrives, it will essentially be abandoned and gone. If you don't do it now, it will be incredibly difficult, if near impossible, to proceed in the future.

I think Eureka is mostly a testing lab for the developers to live test theories and ideas on the players to see which ideas will work, which will not and the various resistance levels players have to their ideas.

No itll always be in the game
and we will still have threads about it in 5.0 even if they don't make any stuff like it

well compared to other relic grinds this is pretty easy

Especially if it means it gives crafters less to do. All the housing items this patch are in Pyros, leaving crafters with barely anything to make until they're given more scraps. I get that some carrots are needed but dumping /all/ the carrots into unpopular and /highly/ gated content at the expense of other content is just asking for ire. At least with PVP most of the rewards can be gotten by doing the roulette once a day, which if you're lucky and don't get Secure can end in less than ten-fifteen minutes. And even then it's never been given the lion's share of rewards in any given patch. If you haven't bothered with Eureka till now you have dozens of hours of grinding ahead of you for those items. Hell even if you kept up the grind is still several hours long.

I wasn't a fan of the crafted steps of previous relics, but I'd happily "suffer" my way through that than...the abomination we have now. So I give 110% support to crafters.

Unfortunately Eureka has already been paid for. Even if it were to go away, that's still development time and resources that have been spent and cannot be retroactively redirected towards other aspects of the game.

My only hope is that the devs are aware of Eureka's fleeting nature, so that when it becomes a ghost town (as of or maybe even before 5.0) they have some kind of plans to make it fully soloable and possible to 100% within a week. I'm never taking my alt through it otherwise.

Because nobody can convince me even for a moment that Eureka was designed with longevity in mind. They must have known from the start that it would basically be a limited-time event.

We are doing something else.

We also did something else with PvP. That's why PvP is dead. Enjoy Eureka with the tiny handful of others who stick around long-term.

Eureka won't "go away". Depending on feedback and analysis of participation, SE might never do anything like it again, but they're not going to abandon it midway through. They're going to finish whatever they've had planned for it, at the very least.

Killing the same mob over and over and over and over might not SOUND like gripping content, but for veterans of games like FFXI, it's business as usual. This is EXACTLY how folks leveled in FFXI - going to a camp, and killing the same kind of enemy over and over for hours at a time. And it wasn't that bad. There's a sense of satisfaction to be had in participating in a well-oiled machine.

I'm done with Pagos and on to Pyros, now, and at no point in Pagos was I actually bored. When I hear about folks complaining of being bored in Eureka, I have to wonder if they're even TRYING to enjoy themselves!

Yes well this isn't XI or any other old MMOs & grind style just doesn't work for XIV which is a much faster paced MMO getting max level in old days of MMO was a big f-n chore get to max in XIV take less than a weekend, we have rotations thats require triple the button presses of older mmos to do effective combat. Grind heavy stuff just doesn't fit well for the style of game XIV currently is.

Also per the topic Eureka much like Diadem is done with this expansion, they'll try something similar but slightly different in 5.0 but Eureka story will likely not continue into 5.0 the 4th final instance of Eureka in coming patches will be it for Eureka & it's story.

There's still likely gonna be at least one part of Eureka, as the current best the relic weapons you can get are at 385, the very final Relic is probably going to end at 405, tying in ilvl with the weapons from savage omega.


As for 5.x, I don't know. I have no idea what the Japanese side of the community thinks of Eureka. They're the ones Square will listen to more anyways.
