It's coming...the moment we've all been waiting for. Yoshi-P and his team get up on stage and make an announcement.
What do you hope they will reveal?
I’m not expecting much honestly. I’m fairly certain the event will do the following in terms of reveals:
• Title drop for the new expansion. With a teaser trailer.
• Some discussion about 5.0 with vague (or not so vague) hints about where we’re going next, along with the newest conflict we’re about to get involved in.
• MAYBE a new race revealed to play as.
• At most, a teaser for one of the newest jobs via Yoshi-P’s shirt.
But to answer the question of what I HOPE to see... My hope is to see a new job revealed right away. THEN a teaser for the next job reveal.
Yoshida: "When we were creating The Forbidden Land of Eureka we had an entire vision in place for what kind of content it would be. But unfortunately there was an unexpected turn of events and the playerbase did not receive it very well...(laughs). In response to the mountain of negative feedback towards Eureka we have decided it best to cancel the project and funnel the remaining resources into the expansion. Players will still be able to enter Eureka until 4.55 but after that it will be locked and removed from the game entirely along with Diadem. All items and goodies from the content will be achievable by other means. We hope it has been a wise decision. Please forward to it."
An expansion and not a mobile game.
Housing:
- Additional housing wards to be added for every server.
- Two new housing districts. Ishgard and Garlemald.
Character Customisation:
- Additional character creation options for the existing playable races.
- More facial hair options for male characters.
- More scars/makeup options for both genders.
- Highlander men finally get authentic eyebrows.
- Xaela/Raen can choose their horn style without being bound to a particular face.
Server Stability:
- Upgrades to server stability and performance.
I want more customization and Ishgard houses but expect neither lol
More cut & paste enemies the devs couldn't bother to even pallet-swap colors on.
Collabs with other studio's games that make even less sense.
Time travel gimmick that reuses the same area maps we've been in, but with a dark sky and different, higher level enemy placements.
14 more A rank, and 7 more S rank hunts. The addition of 3 SSS rank hunts that only spawn once a month.
Summoners finally get a new pet, but if you input the skill combo wrong, it eats all your MP and you drop to 1 HP.
Diadiem 5.0 combines with 24 man raids. 1 long hallway FF13 style where 144 people have to sneak past enemies to reach the end.

Hi People. We ran out of cash, so were owned by Activision now.
Prepare yourself for the next final fantasy, now on MOBILE. Now with 100% more hardware limitations.

What I expect is pretty bare bones, but what I'd like/love to hear is an overhaul of the game's tired formula. 3 points in particular.
1: Some system for customizing gameplay. The simplest solution is more interesting stats on gear, but a talent tree, sub jobs, etc would also fit the bill.
2: More interesting and varied battle content. Instead of predictable dungeons/trials/raids in a format so unchanging I could tell you what's going to be in patch 7.3, I would like to see new formats for battle content. Even things as simple as "Defend this outpost from waves of enemy attacks" or "Deliver this bomb to its destination" would be a welcome relief from the linear, predictable content we have now.
3: Ease up on the freakishly steep vertical progression. Nothing we accomplish in the game has any long lasting meaning as it is. I can slave and slave for a new set of gear (that is already super boring because of the lack of interesting stats) and in a couple months time that gear with be both worthless and incredibly easy to get.
What I hope for is anything that stops the constant whining on the forums.
If content lasts more than the usual 24-48 hours, 6 months won't be a big issue.
I mean i'd rather wait 6, 9, even a year if this means getting better content that lasts a little more than the current content we have...at least I'll have something to look for.
In an ideal world I’d love to see some footage of new actions for current jobs, maybe something about new jobs and maybe something about upcoming content?
I’m reality they’ll show us some new exclusive mogstation merch ($50 dollar minion incoming?), ignore addressing any feedback about existing content, avoid answering questions and make some meme jokes about ‘plz look forward to it’ when they can’t be bothered doing the event anymore. And maybe some barely relevant interviews with whichever staff member they managed to grab that day
More Eureka related stuff because we just lovvvve that type of content. Oh and you can't forgot about those cute little mogstation goodies just in time for the holiday season. :)
For the items on my wish list? Wouldn't be remotely necessary. If they wanted to overhaul the game's engine or code to shed some of the handicaps left over from 1.0, sure I'd be willing to deal with some downtime. I'm not convinced that's on the table though or be a reasonable expectation.
I want him to announce that we all get brand new cars. Bonus if they can be ridden by four people. Extra bonus points if it's the Regalia.
This pretty much would actually make me fairly happy. I do wish to see dungeon designs that push the envelope, where were not just doing "Kill some mobs, move to a boss fight, Kill some mobs, move to a boss fight." and a bit more interactivity. Older final fantasy games did actually have puzzles and junk. There is room for some more interesting things if people are willing to try it out.
As much as people like to complain about how 'static' and 'formulaic' SB is, what people do not give enough credit to is that they are pushing the envelope. Raid fights have been more complex and interesting than those in HW. Even though some mechanics are copy/pasted, there were new and interesting ones introduced. I hope that trend does continue and more interesting mechanics are added to spice it up.
1. Gunblade job announcement
2. Hint at a Gunblade job
That's my Fanfest wish list as I'm pretty sure most people know what to expect otherwise. They would have my sub forever, or at least until they drive the game into the ground. Both are equally possible at this point.
I agree with you, we have been getting very well designed and well polished dungeons. My complaint though is no matter how finely crafted they are, they are still all linear hallways with circle or square arenas for bosses. I'd like to see that formula change. I'd like to see a dungeon where you're fighting the final boss the entire way through, or where you defend a set location from attack, or a dungeon where you have a choice of how to proceed down it with different bosses and different loot depending on your choice, or a dungeon where you're actually queued with 8 people and the two groups of 4 race to the end for bonus rewards, or a dungeon that's a heist where the idea is to sneak in and stun enemy's calls for help, while avoiding certain pathing enemies, etc etc. There are a million different ways to spice things up, but right now the only thing that changes is what order we dodge AoE in for the boss.
FFXIV 5.0 = New Zones will be Audolin with FFXI Audolin NPC's. Expansion's focus is to connect both FFXIV and FFXI together lol.
The next expansion.
New character creator options for our current races?
A hint/reveal of a job that dual wields axes?
uh...
1. 5.0 name and initial trailer revealed
2. Promise to never do Eureka again- or at least acknowledge that it was a failure
3. Hints or teases about upcoming new jobs and/or races
4. Revamp to allow for greater character customization/further improvements to glamour system
5. More mid-core PvE content
That's as realistic as I can get
Eureka was okay, it needed some tweaks. Being able to get in and out without queue times Is nice. At least it wasn't a raid that only a small portion of the playerbase can enjoy.
Here's my list, in no particular order, by the time all the fan-fests are done.
Title reveal - Shadowbringers
Level cap increase to level 80
New zones - Ilsabard and Thavnair.
New Jobs - Blue Mage, Dancer, Gunblade wielder (Let's guess it's called Legionaire).
Class system abolished (no more gladiators, thaumaturges, conjurers, etc)
Windows 32-bit OS no longer supported
Role-action system revamp
New Housing area - Ishgard
New Race Viera with 2 clan options (a tall and short version)
Some new form of content probably related to relic. (Hopefully not Eureka 2.0)
An instance like Eureka where you can enter and exit anytime you want, but instead of F.A.T.E's and NM's, it's Frontlines like PVP xD.
-introduction of a new healer and tank class
-complete annihilation of Eureka
-resignation of Yoshi and the devs (excluding Soken and music composer team)
-introduction of the new team
- More zones that allows exploration (with hidden places to discover that have some kind of use, and NPC to interract with, not just empty big places à la SB)
- Make underwater maps useful for something else than gathering, they're so pretty it's really a waste :(
- New race : VIERAS!
- Job : Beastmaster
- Original dungeons like Bardam Mettle
- Higher item cap for houses/appartment/private chambers
- Underwater housing?
- Allow glamour to be linked to jobs (so that we can have different glamour for BLM and RDM for exemple but with the same gear)
- Graphic upgrade? higher quality textures.
- Allow us to do company workshop craft alone?
- More allowance for Kurea/Maago/Zhloe
- SCH fairy glamour (just like what they did for SMN, I don't remember how it's called) and not just carbuncle but a new fairy design too.
Viera race *done right and not messed up again*... so I can switch already lol
