Inn rooms, Crafting and You.

So besides watching old cutscenes and accumulating some rested exp, what are the point of these rooms?
It's a private space, right?
Crafting is one of the few things you can efficiently do alone, so why disable crafting inside Inn rooms?
At the moment if I've got an important synth do to I head of the closest GC HQ, since I get much less input and animation lag there than anywhere else. I think it'd be much more thematically appropriate to retire to one's room for some uninterrupted crafting time...

i agree they shldnt restrict it, We all go to private areas to craft in peace where there is no spam or anything like that.

They didn't allow it in XI either (nevermind, confused with skilling up enhancing magic). I wouldn't be surprised if there is some "RMT might abuse this so let's ruin it for everyone" logic behind the decision.

What? You could craft in your Mog House. But in this case, I understand why. You gain rested xp while being in the room, that includes (as far as I am aware) xp for synthing. I imagine the way they have it set up could lead to abuse where people could just sit and gain a neverending bonus while synthing.

ooh never thought of that rested exp ur right it cld prolly effect synth. But ya i agree that RMT will prolly abuse it as well, lucky for us this game doesnt have as many RMT as FFXI where u wld get tells with ads in them for RMT websites and prices lol.. Im sure one day in the future it might be the same ><.

I'm pretty sure this is just the tip of the iceberg. I can easily see the same features housing had in FFXi implemented in FFXiV.

Inns are not Private House, are more like Hotels. :p I think that now Dev Team cannot improve more features all in one time.

EDIT:
I don't remember in which post, but was said that Private House will be difficult to obtain, so Inns in the future will be used while trying to get Mog. :confused:

You assume they restricted it instead of it just not being possible to have that many instances each with people doing complex actions like crafting.

Inns are basically there just for rested XP at the moment we will be getting player housing later on.

I just hope the Rooms are Huge.. because.. you do Realize Nearly every single person ( which is like roughly at least 500 people per server, more when the Merge happens), is going to be shoved into the INN, at some point or another, there will be people that near log out, there will be people that want to be in there to Chat with there friends, Or even a Good LS place to hang out. I hope theres like "different rooms" and not one HUGE room (or small :/ lol)

They are Private rooms, its unlikely you will be able to take other people into your room and definitely not until 2.0/

I understand they are Private rooms, Just they haven't really made anything the only " you" can enter in. I just figure it was a Limitation problem" but its awesome that can have a room all to yourself :D.

Gaining rested XP, then using it on every synth = nope.

You gain EXP bonus overtime in an Inn, you craft inside of an Inn, keep getting bonus EXP because you are in there. Endless bonus EXP.

Hmm, not sure how the EXP bonus bar will exactly work in how the intervals work, but I think this may be one of the reasons you cannot craft in there.

or they could just make it so you don't accumulate xp while crafting?

We don't know how fast rested XP is generated. Even if we were allowed to craft in the Inn, I don't see the rested bonus giving more EXP than the new food would.

IDEA, lets get rid of rested exp so you guys can craft!

They should just change the rested bonus to only accumulate while you are logged out if you logged out from within your private room. Then go ahead and let us craft or do whatever we like in our rooms. I thought the rested bonus was to help out people who had less time to play anyway.

Also, I really dislike the idea of all the cities being empty because we are all in our own rooms...

I think rested XP should only apply when you are logged out as well. However, I'm not opposed to not crafting in the rented rooms. When we get player estates, we will be able to craft in those.

Only people who work out of hotel rooms are prostitutes and meth lab chemists.

Inns can be crafted in.

Inns do not give bonus XP (unless logged out)

I guess I read the post as meaning that in 1.21 we are getting the bare bones, and we will get more later. Later may mean as far out as 2.0+ though.

I guess we could all pitch a fit about not being able to craft in the Inns and make them stop work on something else to give us that feature. Don't get me wrong I'd like it as a feature, but I want 2.0 and some of the pre-2.0 crafting improvements they are working on a whole lot more.

I'm just happy I am getting a room, and see the watching cs inside as a bonus. The ones with Moogles have a lot of replay value ._.

1.21 is not only Inns, you know? ^^

So, pause rested xp gain durring crafting seems to be a fine solution.

P.S. I don't see the cities emptying out unless you can hear shouts from inside the Inn.

It's great that they added in Inn Rooms for us to use, but what was the driving impetus for getting players into the Inn Rooms?

If the key point was to allow a way to View Cutscenes (nice), that's fine and can be done while allowing Crafting in rooms.

If it's to get "Rested XP" while you're logged out *in your Inn Room*... you have to ask, for what reason?

You can't craft in the Inn Room.
You can't invite friends to your Inn Room.
You can't customize your Inn Room.
You don't have Extra Storage in the Inn Room.

(Note: I understand that we'll get all of that and customized Gardens (awesome! :)), and more in 2.0 with Player Estate Housing.)

So given the above, DoctorMog's solution makes the most sense:

Just allow Bonus "Rested" XP to accumulate regardless of where you log off, and at least allow the Inn Room to be more than just a Cutscene Viewer room.

If it was a place where you had Extra Storage, or could customize it a bit, or invite friends to hang out, that'd be fine with "No Crafting." It just seems very limiting right now.
