Consistent Fatal DirectX Error 11000002 after Patch 4.4

This error started happening after patch 4.4. It first started around 9/19/2018 when I fell off the platform in Suzaku Extreme. Occasionally it would happen every few hours or so. It became prevalent on 9/20/2018 1:00pm PST in Alphascape V1 Savage when falling off would become an instant Fatal DirectX Error 11000002. Then it escalated where being in Kugane Housing district or Inn, pretty much everywhere if the game has running for 10-15mins it would error. At times only the Error window would pop and instantly closing the game. Then at times the game would experience artifacts shown in the picture below before the Fatal DirectX Error 11000002 window would show up. Also I am using the FFXIV launcher and not launching the program from Steam. At this point the game is now current unplayable.

I tried troubleshooting the problem listed below.

1) Switch to DirectX 9 mode (select ‘Config’ from the launcher to turn off DirectX 11)
2) Updating Nvdia graphics driver to the most current one. Downgrading to other stable versions.
3) Disable any overlays you may have open (Geforce Experience, Discord Overlay, etc.)
4) Set compatibility mode to Windows 7 (right click on the ffxivboot.exe file and select ‘Properties.’ Then select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and choose Windows 7)
5) Perform a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.
6) Reinstall the game (also make sure to delete the locally saved files in My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV).
7)Reinstalling DirectX
8) Check SSD for Errors
9) Reinstalling Windows
10) Setting Firewall permissions for FFXIVboot and FFXIVlauncher
11) Checked if GPU was overheating. On load average temperature 58-60 C

Even after going through the troubleshooting the errors still happens. I've been playing the game from Windows 8 and when Windows 10 was updated. I had no prior issues with the game until now.

At first I thought my GPU was failing so I decided to run benchmarks to see if being on load from other sources would crash. I looped Unigine Valley at the highest setting for 30 minutes and it worked well. No crashes or errors. Then I used Unigine Superposition Stress test at highest settings for 30 minutes and no errors.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

The graphical glitches makes me think it's a driver issue. When you updated them, did you do a clean install? It should give you that option when you install/reinstall them.

The other thing is some sort of instability with your graphics card. Are you overclocking your card at all? Maybe try removing any factory overclock your card may have?

Yes, I did a clean wipe and install for the drivers. I did it again now to make sure. Started up the game. 20mins into playing I get the error.

Relogged in again 7 minutes into the game and the game frozed and black screened. I couldn't not do anything and had to force shut down my computer.

My GPU settings were out of the box no overclocking from my part. I considered factory overclock might have been an issue. I've checked suggestions from similar users with DirectX problems and tried lowering clock speed and that did not remedy the error. The GPU I'm using now is EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition GAMING.

After all this troubleshooting I feel like its the game rather something wrong with my system. All other programs and such is functional. The Unigine Valley and Stress Test Superpostion went fine. FFXIV was working well up until patch 4.4. My system settings and GPU ect were the same from the last 3 patches. I did not even update Nvdia's graphic driver that was released Wed Sept 19, 2018 in fear it might break FFXIV during patch. Now that it's up to date to this version the error still persists. Even trying past Drivers it still persists.

I've browsed the other language forums and it seems like some people are having the same issue. Can this is issue be escalated to the appropriate parties so they are aware something has gone wrong with this Patch update.

Edited: Also wanted to add that playing on both 9 and 11 still errors the game.

So I think I narrowed it down to what's causing the problem. Patch 4.4 is broken with the GTX 1080 (TI), everything else is working fine while FFXIV crashes consistently. I went to borrow an old GPU specifically a GTX 1060. Before installing the 1060. I cleaned wiped graphic drivers and reinstalled. Did a trial roulette (Bismark). Completed and exited without a crash. Cleaned wiped, reinstalled drivers and the 1080 (TI). Queued for another Trial Roulette and got Shinryuu. Crashed twice once right before the phase transitioned and another while exiting the instance.

Patch 4.4 probably broke something specifically to 1080 with this error. I saw at least a few people from English, French, and Japanese forums that experienced this. The only common factor is the same error number and GPU.

It sounds like something with that graphics card or it's driver is not cooperating with the game. What driver version did you install? Can you try reverting to an older version and see if you run into the dame error?

So far I've tried versions 411.63, 399.24, 399.07, 398.82, 398.36, 398.11, 397.93, 397.93, 291.35. Per Nvidia support I've also tried a clean removal of graphic drivers using DDU and Advance mode while installing drivers. Clean Boot with all programs off on Start Up with only Nvidia services on. Creating another user account to see if OS or corrupt software files were present. Have the most recent updates to Win10 if any. Turning off Game Bar, Game DVR, and Disabling DiaTrack. Config>Reset System Settings also does not work. I tried underclocking a second time and tried different voltages and still have the same crashes.

Seems like they moved the JP tread because it didn't belong in In-Game-Bugs

Closing MSI Afterburner from the toolbar fixed my DirectX 11 error. I was getting constant crashes even in Direct9 having MSI Afterburner in the background Also don't leave any browser windows open the game is really sensitive to these things

I wish that was the case for me. I've closing all programs like EVGA's xPOC with only FFXIV up and sadly it didn't work. I'm still stuck with this Fatal DirectX Error 1100002.

We'd like to request some more information about your computer as a whole. Specifically, have you changed out any other part of your computer throughout this process? I know you mentioned that your swapped out the GPU, but did you replace any other part?

I also know you tried DirectX 9 mode, but did this come up with the exact same error as before? Was there any other difference while using this mode (slightly different error message, error appeared in a different fashion, etc.)?

I'd also like you to check the graphics card, just to make sure that there is no physical damage that you can see.

I would like to jump in on this. I am also receiving the error and running the game on my 1080ti. This has only been an issue since the most recent patch.
