False advertising in PF should be reportable

Everyday, I see posts in the PF for the roulettes that want to sell runs for weapons/clears, search for static jobs, or advertise for their FC even if they aren't on the same server. I feel like these should be reportable and punishable since they are falsely advertising in the wrong PF slot. If people want to PF for Roulettes, it should only be for the roulettes they are planning to run.

Well the recruits for FCs should honestly have their own page. The reason why recruiting on the PF is done over the data center, instead of just the world they're on, is due to people who might have multiple characters on different servers of their data center. I've seen a few people who've found an FC that way before. But otherwise I do fully agree that people should stop being able to sell runs in the PF. Just about everyone and their mother makes you have to talk to them on discord, in which they talk about how you're going to 'pay' them, even if they're on multiple servers, usually by paypal or even buying it from RMTs on phishy sites. Everyone knows what's up with those by now. If people were just selling on their own server, and you did NOT have to move to discord due to them knowingly breaking the rules, I'd honestly be ok with.... minus them being in the #1 spot when you go to check the PF. Too bad you can't report them for RMT when you have ''''no proof''''.

I used to run a daily PF recruitment that looked like this.

"WTB items on my server, but am advertising across the data-center for no particular reason!"

I used to get like 3-5 messages per hour long session giving me kudos for my sarcasm, lol

Where do you draw the line though? Someone puts up they want to do Ifrit Ex but then you find out its Shiva Ex.

It would just be great to have a category for Static Recruitment and FC Recruitment. But I mean, a reportable offense is pretty serious. It's just a PF listing. It's nothing that is serious enough to warrant A REPORT.

Static jobs is possible on different servers though, as long as they communicate properly.

If a static is looking for someone to raid with and the statics progress is at O7S, so they put up that in PF in the way of "Static looking for [job] to raid, progressing in O7S, raidtimes".
Are they false advertising? They do want to play this content and they are recruiting for it - they just dont want to do it right now and more than once with the same people.

The FC-recruitment is a bit more fishy, I agree - but I also think we need an actual system that allows people to advertise and browse FCs. Something like a marketboard just for FCs, basically. We have all those fancy tags we can use for our FCs, so why cant we have a system that displays and sorts all of them?

In regards to the whole thing though... each time this topic comes up (specially when it comes to the whole selling-part), I wonder: Is this really hurting you? Is this really hurting anyone? Its not like the PF is unusable because of it (at least not on my datacenter) and seeing how this has been a thing since they introduced it, I dont think we need to worry about it getting worse and taking over at somepoint.
So... why is it bothering you? There are PF-groups you're not intrested in joining, thats all - at least to me.

I think the issue is using duty finder-roulette to advertise things that aren't roulette. Most savage/ultimate tend to advertise in savage/ultimate duties anyways. But DF roulette always puts you at the top of the screen, which is why people use it for other things. The only real objection to it is when its used for run selling. People looking for statics usually check the savage pfs anyways.

people don't want any adverts for cross server run selling, because the gil limits when transferring and lack of trading in instance means its probably paid for via rmt of some kind. As for hurting...well players selling ultimate runs tarnished that in my eyes, because you wonder what else they do if they are willing to do that.

I wasnt talking so much about the run-selling itself here, but about the advertisments in PF that are listed somewhat wrong.
Is that really hurting you?
Is it hurting you when you open the PF and see a listing under "Expert roulette" thats actually an FC looking for new members?
Personally: Its not hurting me - its just another party I wont join for reasons. As I explained: I'm not under the impression that the majority of PF-listings turned into false advertisment (which would make the PF useless) and I also dont believe that thats whats coming for us. There will be a couple of semi-wrong* listings that you'll just skip just how you skip that Byakko-group thats looking for a tank when you want to heal.

*semi-wrong: I'm using that because of the whole static-argument I made before. A FC thats recruiting via Expert-roulette might be very well intrested in doing that content together - even if maybe not now. A static looking for a member will eventually do the raid they put up the PF for. Technically you could even say that the sellers will do the content they put up the PF for... if you pay them. Has anyone ever tried to buy an expert roulette?

But there is a section for "killselling" actually, ppl just dont use it cause the fancy ex dungeon or newest primal comse first >_>

It annoys me like hell, tbh... and the fact they can use ilvl higher then the current max ticks me off a lot... not even starting on the impossible cross server sells...

Players literally will complain about just about anything in XIV....it is literally not harming you to ignore the listings, but people don't always read the PF listings fully either I've noticed over the years.

If they did, I wouldn't have gotten people in my Tsukiyomi EX runs asking what strategy was being used when it was clearly in the PF description.

That's annoying.

I think it would make it more difficult for legitimate roulette PFs to fill. It defeats the purpose of the party finder when things are intentionally mislabled. I blacklist the ones I can, as they are not the sort of people I would want to party with. There's an "other" category for a reason.

Runselling though is one of the uses of that. There's also stuff like people using it to advertise their twitch streams or other things. Its not annoying or hurting much because not many people do it. But for runselling, yeah, they do need to do something about that.

Building on this a bit, it'd be nice if people we blacklisted were removed from our PF view instead of just grayed out.

I feel like this should be true but only under these specific circumstances:

A. Something is Min ilvl and not marked or stated as such
B. Different instance than what's said.
C. When they leave a slot open for all roles and then get upset when you aren't that role.
D. Lootmaster/Greed Only when not advertised as such.
E. Kicking New/Players with clears when they didn't mark that to keep those players out.

That's it. No "Oh, they're advertising for FCs/Twitch Streams/Whatever on their descriptions." of course they are. People intentionally make the ilvl impossible to make it stand out, usually. They are minor and not hurting anybody in the only thing they are doing is taking up a space on the PF, a place where most people are looking and scanning carefully to make sure things are perfect. My only complaint is when they say they want something but don't explicitly use the indicators that PF provides to say what they are looking for and shame you for not knowing better/confuse you by advertising the instance improperly.

This is the best post in this thread.

However, if blacklisted people can't be removed from our immediate PF view for whatever reason the devs bring up, they should at least program Party Finder to where the parties of the blacklisted people get moved to the end section of the list where the locked duties are.

You're free to report anyone for anything, so long as you're willing to take the risk that a GM will laugh at it or maybe even reprimand you for wasting their time with frivolous reports if you do it too much.

That said, people advertising selling runs for real money most likely fall under the category of reasonable to report.

FCs or statics advertising for recruitment is a symptom of something missing in the game. There should be some sort of tool for advertising and searching for teams and fcs in the game. And it should be cross-realm within the data centre. A lot of people do transfer if something sounds good enough.

There is other in party finder that they can put there adds. They should be able to be reported for listing them in wrong place and not in other. They should also make it illegal to sell runs. How you know there not selling them for real money those runs.

People don't use "other" because "other" appears at the bottom of the list, move it to the top and people will start using it.

Saying something should be reportable is saying people should be banned for something as silly as putting a PF ad in the wrong place. Do you really think that's a bannable offense? That's a bit of a disproportionate response to something largely harmless. On run sales, I believe GMs operate under "innocent until proven guilty", they don't assume the absolute worst scenario and start banning people without proof.

If there selling runs cross world how they get paid with gil or items. You can't trade anything inside a instance and sure can't trade cross world. Already read once in forums few months ago someone selling runs did get banned. Maybe they should just create new slot for selling stuff.

I'd rather just find a way to nuke vanity PF messages in general, rather than just sellers. IM LONELY TALK WITH ME and endless static/fc recruitment messages need to go away, just for general housekeeping.

Reporting them for looking for members for static and/or FC should be reportable just because they use the PF for roulettes which bugs you? Seriously?

How about people use some common sense and quit spamming the PF with non-party stuff to begin with. The PF is for PF, not for anything else. It's not like the endless unsolicited FC spam hasn't gone away either. SE could also just put a timeout/cooldown on these things to reduce it by making open PF's advertisement cancel after 30 minutes, regardless if it's filled or not. Or even just canceling PF's that have impossible configurations or any kind of link in the description.
