56 People. 3 Strongholds. 1 Event.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to share this and put it up as a suggestion for something to do on other servers as well, if you're interested.

A friend on Saronia started with a blog post to organize an event where people could gather together and attack the beastmen strongholds in order to gain the "Bane of the Tribes" Achievement. At the designated time on a Sunday night, anyone and everyone was welcome regardless of LS or class.

Word spread, and in all we had 56 people -- 7 full parties. Each party had a tank, attackers, and healers. And we literally stormed all 3 strongholds together.

It was kind of crazy with so many people, but it sure was epic!

Each party took turns claiming the Bosses at each stronghold, and everyone supported each attack. We all got our achievements and some great pictures and memories as well.

looks like a well planned event. 56 people seems like alot for the strongholds though. we were able to get the natalan and kobold complete with 7 people though. we did wind up needing 8 for the amaljah.

it is good to see that many people working together for a goal. it'd be really nice if they did put some events in the game after the servers are taken care of that actually needed multiple parties to complete.

We had no idea so many would show up.

With so many people we couldn't see everyone and monsters would pop in and out of view unless you were actively engaging them.

56 people was excessive and you definitely don't need that many to clear the strongholds... but it sure was fun. ^^
It was a nice way to meet people who I had never interacted with before.

Depending on how many people there are, it might be better to split into 2 groups and attack different targets or go in 2 waves. But seeing so many people rushing into the strongholds was pretty amazing.

oh yeah i can imagine. it would have been chaotic, but i can be sure it was a blast. i was just sayin i wish they put in the events that needed more than a single party.

Because the engine only support 20 character models on screen :P

It would have been even better if you could see everyone on screen, maybe the hamlet defenses will be the type of mass PvE content where you need that many people (in 2.0).

Hmm I duno with this engine you would have gone sub 10 fps, anyone remember Dynamis in the early days XD

I thought the engines currently support 40ppl

Glad to see that 56 people showed up if I would have known about it and been on the same server I would have been there. Till the next one :)

It is great fun. We just did a LS stronghold attack with 24 people. We were able to organize it the week before, and it was a great way to connect with most of the LS at the same time.

glad to see a lot of people got the achievement who probably could do it normally. This is why im glad moogle and ifrit are instanced. no offense.

I'm glad to see these types of events, they bring communities together =)

I had to follow your lead on this. :) I created a thread for a similar event on Fabul, but for just one NM.

I think these sorts of user planned events are great for bringing people together.

Other ideas:

We had a beach party and fireworks festival last summer during the Firefall Faire event, which was also a lot of fun.

ok now these are the types of events i would love to be part of. it's much better than sitting and crafting day in and day out because we barely even have as many people online total as you events are bringing in.

the ideas are great and i love seeing things like these. the community coming together and doing events like these reminds me of why i believe this game will be a success in the long run.

Do you know any "connector" type people on Karnak?
You could perhaps suggest an event to them and see if they could try to organize something.

Pretty much all of our events grew naturally with 1 well-connected person posting about it on their Lodestone blog a week or two in advance, and just asking people to help spread the word. ^^

yeah, karnak is so small the vast majority of us know everyone else there. the issue is the amount of people that are online at once. something like the fashion show you guys put on we just don't have the people on to try and put together. we just lack having the number of people online. i'm hoping after the merge we would have enough people interested in doing some of those type of events though.

Oh. I'm sorry to hear that. ><;

I'm on Saronia which is a 1-chocobo server.
But we have a very active Japanese player population which I am a part of, so it's not difficult to get people together for new events. Most people stick to their Linkshells day to day, but these events are nice for meeting people you don't normally talk with.

Population-wise, I do hope things improve all around.
