They still can do good trailers! That new trial looks EPIC!! I’m hooked...
Will it live up to the hype though? I'm excited about Alphascape... not gonna lie.
Now I’m even more hyped!
Suzaku's music snippet sounds great, might need this newest doggo asap *_*
Viera confirmed?
Given the way the story is, it would have to either be something iconic, or it's midgardsormr. Having just a random dragon (or even the dragon from FFX) just wouldn't make sense. Remember that we have seen midgardsormr take on many forms, so in this raid, if there's a dragon then it's probably midgardsormr.
I just went back and rewatched it, and that is definately midgardsormrs head.
Omega hasn't thrown anything at us that we've fought before so far. Midgardsormr just doesn't fit the pattern.
Also, that just....doesn't look anything like him anyway. Midgardsormr's full body is limbless aside from wings (and also enormous, but that's easily handwaved, as with Bahamut and Alexander). The dragon in the trailer has legs.
Minion Middy and mount Middy both have normal dragon-like proportions with 2 front and 2 hind legs. Since Omega originally fought Middy a looooong time ago, its possible that this is a fight based on some point between mount sized and keeper of the lake sized.
(personally I think it is him based on the head shape. All of Midgardsormr's forms have kept his wing-looking ear fins, which are pretty prominent on this dragon boss)
One character looked like Trance Kuja
That was Suzaku.
Too much JRPG gives you amnesia, huh? :P 2 pages arguing about if it's Midgard or not. As someone else said rewatch the O8 scenes, Midgard is completely relevant to this story and the obvious choice for who it is in the trailer. Why would we fight some completely irrelevant distraction dragon from FFX or whatever after Chaos from FF1 in a tournament style setting? Omega reveres Midgard's power so it's totally logical he'd recreate it to try and shut us down.
Looks like something huge goes down in the story but it's hard to tell what exactly. The vision becomes distorted around our character and the scions / company leaders. Suzaku looks beautiful, glad it now seems distinct from Phoenix, was worried after the Livestream preview. Hard to glimpse the new gear but from I can see the new raid / tome gear looks sleek with minor blue glows on it.
meanwhile what I'm most happy about is we'll see more of Sadu and Magnai <3 oh and Shadowhunter yeah
Here's the thing that was heavily emphasized throughout this entire storyline - Omega is creating beings as simulations to test strengths and improve himself. It isn't random at all - Omega and Midgard have had multiple interactions with one another. It isn't at all surprising that Omega may decide to create a simulation of Midgard and pit it against the WoL to see if their strength can overcome the King of Dragons. Pretty positive Omega considered Midgard a fairly powerful being as well.
Now we wait for the 3 jobs and 2 new races in 5.0.

Pretty sure this is gonna be Firezuzu
I think this is the most hyped I've felt about the MSQ in a while, with the threat of both the Garlean Empire and a potential calamity on the horizon.
I'm also wondering if they intend to resolve the Magnai/Sadu tension there as opposed to in some kind of sidequest like I was initially thinking. I assume it's not going to be anything major and we'll just be walking in on some inter-tribal drama when we go to ask if we can borrow some yols again.
Community uproar incoming? Or par for the course at this point?
If someone dies it needs to be permanent death or else it won't matter at all and leave no impact to the story.
Stop the silly resurrections it makes it feel cheap SE.
On the other hand, Final Fantasy II is my least favorite in part because practically every temp character dies stupidly. You don't want to tip the scales too much either way.
At the end of Sigmascape Omega is trying different things to trigger "our" (the protagonists) emotions. So bringing (a replik) of Midgardsormr does fit very well. I already did expect something like this. Also a battle again Omega itself as the final test.
It can't be midgardsormr, midgard in this game is big enough to where his original trial has us face only his head. He was larger than shinryu, large enough to completely wrap around a garlean battleship to bring it down. I'm surprised everyone has forgotten this.
Dragons are like every other animal in that they have different stages of life. Further, Omega and Midgardsormr fought aeons ago, and he is also known to have several other forms we have seen. It makes sense that this could be a representation of Middy in his Prime.
Based on the leaked info, which thus far seems correct with the inclusion of a Chaos, Midgardsormr, and an Omega fight... don't be so sure about Omega being the "final test"
I'm fairly certain that this version of Suzaku is female... the armor it wears in phoenix form looks like the breastguard has space for... well... breasts. And the voice actor sounds female to me too... but that could go either way since voice actors provide voices to characters of the opposite gender all the time.
My headcanon wants Suzaku to be female anyway so that I can rename patch 4.4 "Blazing Waifu Wars: Suzaku vs. Firezuzu"
It's pretty obvious that it is Midgardsormr. The size can be explained because Omega recreates fights and beings by the memories he has stored. Knowing that he fought a long time ago against Midgardsormr, it is quite possible that he could choose the size and make it a miniature version. This is not the real Midgardsormr that we will face, but a memory recreated by Omega.
I am amazed at how much some people are trying to refute Midgarsorm as a boss here.
It is as they don't even read the storyline while playing, I don't see any other explanation.
So far, Mid is the only being that managed to damage Omega, even not clearly said, it is pretty obvious with how they interact that Mid cause the damages that made Omega to land on Hydaelin and fell into slumber.
It is so far the strongest foe the machine ever encountered, and it is no surprise we face a recreation of how Mid was when they faced each other right before fighting against omega.
As for the size argument, it is mentionned that dragons keep growing the older they get. Midgardsorm wraped around the Agrius is way older than when Omega met him. Allag was around 5000 years before when we are playing, and they found Omega already here, stating that Omega have faced Mid more than 5000 years ago.
Based on the trailer, he looks like being the size of Niddhogr and Hraesvelgr, so they may faced each other when mid was around the age of his children.
We will face the true strengh of midgardsorm, when he was younger and hasn't sacrified his power by bonding with hydaelin.
Yes...the actual Midgardsormr is massive.
We haven't fought any of the actual characters - just creations that Omega made for its tournament. Do you really think that Kefka in his normal form is that huge? Nay, he would be closer to The Griffin's size in a fight. We just don't see that because, 1) a human-sized Kefka would be a pain to deal with in a raid and 2) this is Omega's design. So Midgardsormr being a fight is completely feasible in here, because it doesn't have to be scaled to his actual size - Omega can make Midgard as large or as small as it desires. Even if it is Midgardsormr himself, he has shown that he can create whatever avatar, and whatever size, that he desires.
I doubt it but I wonder if we'd get a new overworld area out of this. It'd feel a bit pointless to fly alllll the way over to The Burn and then come back after killing everything and pretend it never happened.
I don't know about the size thing, Nidhogg is more than 1200 years old probably closer to 2000, and he's tiny. The point of midgardsomr in myth is that he is huge, he is large enough to encircle the world. He's literally the world-serpent. This one is smaller than vishap.
I guess I'm annoyed because the mid fight and his place in lore is something special, and that little snippet looked generic, right down to generic ahk morn. Literally downsizing an iconic fight doesn't sit well with me.
oh that...I mean, Hisui is the same size as Kurenai. Yet in Shisui she's three times as big as you are. I don't think there is any lore reasons for those.
Hmm..about the trailer in general (editing).
* HOW MANY TIMES WILL THEY REUSE ASSETS? Jesus. The first boss there is an obvious reskin of the lava scorpion boss of one of the past dungeons. They armored up one of the road roller enemies from the SB dungeon.
* I sort of admit that I groaned when I saw the table. Hien and the ARR rulers are boring characters.
* okay, magnai and sadu. I need a waifu, stunted chuluu. Kind of out of left field, but hey you killed off the interesting characters, not many left.
* birb waifu is best waifu. They won't show her transition because it will be ten minutes long and a rhythm minigame.
* The burn looks pretty cool.
* Omega arenas seem much much bigger, closer to 24 man arenas.
* oh hey, eureka still exists, but we wont show much of the next area because we are frantically retooling it.
eh..not bad. I snark a bit, but its par for the course I guess.
