Request - Make class specific 50 and 60 crafter/gatherer gear available to all jobs

Like the title says, would be great to see the class specific gather and crafter gear become available to all jobs. The sets themselves are pretty unique with nothing else coming remotely to looking like them. Right now, I don't know of any lore reason why they need to be locked only to their one class each.

Please SE, make it happen :)

Absolutely against this idea. Everything else I think should be available to glamour to all jobs, but AF is specifically designed for the job it goes with, which is the whole reason why they're so unique. It's the one case where gear designs should ALWAYS stay restricted to that one only.

Learn to read. I said CLASS specific GATHERER and CRAFTER gear. I did NOT say anything about artifact gear. The class specific gatherer and crafter gear is not artifact gear.

I read perfectly fine. I was also talking about GATHERER and CRAFTER ARTIFACT GEAR. I thought the fact that it's the topic of the thread made that pretty obvious. The class specific gear is ARTIFACT GEAR. It's designed specifically to represent that particular class, which is the whole reason it's so unique.

If you didn't actually mean class specific, and were just talking about gear that's limited to DoH or DoL as a whole, then yes, I'd agree that that should be opened up to glamouring to anything else, just as I think DoW and DoM gear should. But the title of the thread suggests that wasn't your topic.

Well it's not artifact gear. Nothing official refers to it as such from what I can find. There is also no lore reason to to keep the class specific gatherer/crafter gear. We don't do a quest or anything like it to obtained it, it's just crafted or bought with yellow scripts. The only reason I can see why they are class specific is because in the past, when they were BiS, and SE made seperate sets to keep geared up for gathering and crafted something you worked more for. Now that they are not BiS, I think SE should let any class wear them.

It never had anything to do with whether they're best in slot. It's that they were designed for one specific class and one only, just like with the combat AF that was purchased with tomestones or traded from dungeon drops. It's nice when AF has some lore to it, but it doesn't always get that.

So you'd rather see the gear sit unused? Sorry, I do not agree with you. Your justification to not let the gear usable by more classes is a really weak one and not a valid one. Your answer boils down to pretty much "Just because..." and nothing else. Your reasoning can be applied to any gear in this game that recolored and switch for other jobs to use. Example: Panegyrist's Chestwrap/Prophet's Chestwrap is now Ghost Barque Chestwrap of Maiming. By your reasoning, SE shouldn't do that cause it originally only or healers and casters. Now dragoons can use that set, even if recolored. You better go protest SE and tell them NO! Just like the crafter/gather sets, it was restricted to only certain jobs, but it is also not AF gear. People find uses for items they were not originally intended for all the time.

SE, requesting make the level 50 and 60 class gatherer and crafter gear usable by other classes. FF14 already has a lot of reskinned gear that went from 1 job set to be usable on another job set.

No, I use it a lot. And I'm glad that now that we have the glamour dresser, it's easier than ever to get more use out of them. Every time I switch to leatherworker, I look like a leatherworker. Every time I switch to blacksmith, I look like a blacksmith, and so on for all eight DoH. I wish there were enough glamour plates to do the same for DoL and combat jobs too, and hopefully there eventually will be, but we've already got the basis for the feature that ensures we don't have to look the same on different classes any more.

I never said anything even remotely like "just because". My reason is that they were designed to exemplify the look of a particular job. AF (regardless of whether we're talking combat AF or DoH/DoL AF) exemplifies the look that helps define a particular job. That's what it's for. That's what it was designed to do. And that's the entire reason we even get such gear in the game.

You're basically saying you don't want SE to make specialized gear any more, that everything should be blandly generic. I don't want everything to be generic. I want to be identifiably a goldsmith, or a weaver, or an alchemist, etc. by looking like each of those jobs whenever I'm on them. It's even more important for DoH than it is for combat jobs, since that appearance is the only distinction between them we have.

My reasoning doesn't fit that in the slightest. Those were never designed to exemplify the look of a specific job in the first place. They were always generic, so I think we should be able to use any of those (as glamour) for any job. The only reason for any split was stat related, not visual.

There shouldn't be a problem with stuff like the Kudzu robes, Onishi Dogi ,ala mhigan doublet becoming a glamor item
not say convert the DoH/L to all classes
but some the unique ones could be all class lvl 1 glamor

also if you didn't mean AF gear for DoH/L that leaves only iron works sets all none class specific crafting/gathering gear from lvl 50 - 60 are already all class
you just were not very specific

IIRC many of the earlier coatee sets are all.

Some of the earliest crafter and gatherer gear is as well.

That's not an argument.

I do not think that gear specific to one crafting or gathering class should be unlocked. It removes much of the appeal of it. While they are not job specific gear, crafters do not have job equivalents outside specialization. Gatherers do not get any jobs. If there were trade jobs, these items would be locked behind them. In effect, it really is the same principle as the AF gear.

If anything, it does appear SE is looking to tighten up restrictions with trade gear rather than loosening it up more.

I was just letting people know that it already exists, so it would not be a surprise if we'd get it someday.

While I know others are against it I would like to be able to wear alot of the craftable level 50 gear in to Dungeons and raids.

Would still be no different than glamouring dark knight gear onto a fisher

Why are you lot so against the idea of more glam? And until we get more than the piddling 10 glam plates we have right now, glaming individual crafter classes makes no sense, unless you want only some of them to have their own plates and even then, only switchable in cities (I often craft an ingot or two between nodes).

I'm in favor of more glam. I just think more glam should come from adding more glam, and not from taking away the entire identity of ten of the game's jobs and a major aspect of an eleventh one.

Fisher would still have at least some identity by the fact that it does things no other class in the game does, but I'd still be against denying it its visual identity, just as I'm against denying the combat jobs their visual identity. For the other DoL and all DoH it's far more important, since the only identity they have is visual. Without the existence of an AF for them, we would no longer really have "Weaver" and "Goldsmith" and "Blacksmith" etc. They would all just be "Crafter".

There are thousands of outfits in the game, and a lot more to come. It's not unreasonable to think each class is entitled to have at least one of them.

8 plates for the 8 DoH classes, 1 for whichever combat job I'm currently advancing and likely to get new gear for (and I just edit that plate when I decide to change focus and work on a different job instead), and 1 extra plate left over.

DoL and all the rest of the combat jobs have to continue on the old system like before the glamour dresser came out until it gets updated with both more plates and the ability to switch between them when switching jobs (i.e. removal of the "in cities only" rule). I hope it eventually does get both those updates, but in the meantime, the discipline that involves the most switching between jobs (i.e. crafting) and which is done mainly at my house or at least in a city anyway (crafting again) is the best use of the plates we have so far.

I glam all of my crafter classes with plates. They all look completely different and are unmistakably their own classes, despite being the same set.

Yeah, the main hand tool and crafting animation does that already unless someone out there really confuses a character with a big headed hammer on their hip for a culinarian.

Outside of the cash shop part, the Chinese have the right idea.

I'm against this. While the items are not labeled as Artifact gear, they hold a similar function, in that many of the items were designed specifically for that job, to be worn by that job, and to hold the look intended only for that job.

At the end of the day, little things like this are what makes the jobs unique and special, visually. I don't think that should be watered down and lost. I think you should be able to look at someone, and without inspecting them or watching them do an animation, know that "yes, that person is X job", if a person wants to glamour that way.

IF they did remove the restriction, I think it should only change things from being "Goldsmith only" to being "DoH only". The people that put in the time and effort to level crafting jobs should be able to retain unique armor sets to only those jobs. If I can't glamor my CUL or Botanist to look like a WHM or NIN, then I don't think that it should work the other way around either. Fair is fair. It's all, or it's nothing. Unless you remove all restrictions, some restrictions need to stay to keep the balance.

It might be seen as petty that some people want to keep a special/unique look to only one job, so that it stays special and unique, but honestly, I'd rather be petty then see anything with significance lose what makes it something that stands out.
