Supply and Provisionary item turn in.

I didn't see a topic, and was just a but curious, and I thought it'd be fun to play devil's advocate and open the flood gates. :cool:

Anyways, there is a log out there that people have kept track of the items to be turned in and now, it has been found that the items will repeat every eight weeks. Because of this, the items now cap very fast, such as easy to get items capping within about 10 seconds. Literally.:eek: Are there any plans, or do you think it would be a good idea to change it so these items were randomized?

Yay, a GC Supply/Provision topic in the right section!! There are two topics about this in 'General Discussion'.

I suggest they make it so that whenever a quota is filled, the item is immediately replaced with a different item. That appeases those that like the server-wide quota (I'll admit, I think it's a cool idea), but it would also ensure that there is always something available to turn in. Randomization is also fine, but if you don't replace the item, it'll still get filled up rather quickly.

Another idea: Slowly deplete the currently turned in amount, achieving a sort of "We've used these up and now we need more" scenario.

I agree with all of those being a good idea, with a but. But(see? :cool:) If they do that, they need to make it so each player has a max amount of seals they can achieve a week, or the very hardcore players, the ones who will now spend every week making 500-1k+ of every item now that we know what is coming, will just keep filling it up and get more seals then anyone.

I support randomization, because the amount of players lined up ready to turn this stuff in is ridiculous. However, I don't think that letting people turn in things constantly is a good idea. Even though you can only "stockpile" seals up to a certain cap, I think it's kind of a good thing that you can only reach that cap on a schedule, deplete it (likely on manuals), and reach it again. Being able to keep it full all the time seems... eh...

I think that a cap on how many items a single person can turn in would be good, in addition to (or lieu of) the server-wide quota, too. If there were personal limits, I'd be a lot more supportive of the idea that there be an item "constantly" in-demand, switching as soon as one quota is met.

Depletion of the quota would have to be at a somewhat high rate to be worthwhile, and regardless of the rate, people would just camp the NPCs waiting to turn in seals (turning in 1 item as soon as it depletes seems lackluster, but I'm sure someone would be doing it).

I think that, in addition to randomization, it would be interesting to have smaller quotas that change more often. A daily quota of a random item, so it's not "Oh, you're too late, come back next week!" but "Try again tomorrow." Also, if the time of this change was not a set time (7am for the west coast, and 2am in Australia!) but a window of, say, 5 hours, less people would risk wasting that much time just for seals.

I'd rather they just go with personal quotas, so us players can only get a certain amount from our Grand Companies a week. Like, say, a cap of maybe 5000 seals or even less, if you were diligent/willing enough to turn in every item they asked of you.

With the way it is now, it is too hectic and can be stressful and frustrating.

E.g. Black Adder unit has suffered significant damage following a skirmish with the Garleans and are now in need of weapons, armor and medicine...

The merge will just exacerbate the problem... In the case of my new server (Excalibur) it will be 3 times worse

I wanted to update you all in regards to supply and provision-related details for patch 1.21.

I understand your reasoning about wanting things randomized, but we didn't want to make the 8 different delivery patterns random because we felt that players would then need to hold onto too many items, which would further strain their inventories. In patch 1.21 we will be changing the system so that the cap on delivery items will be lifted 28 hours after the cap was reached.

Also, as we mentioned yesterday we’ll also be implementing special U/U item delivery (from content like instanced raids) to obtain company seals and we don’t have any plans on having caps on this content.

Pray tell... why do you insist on having a cap if said cap is said to go away in one day?

I think maybe he forgot to mention that the cap will reset back to 0. (24+4 hours) x 6 days will give all players a convenient time to attempt to turn in their supply+provision.

Bayohne it might be better if each player had their own quota to fill either that or make it a weekly quest, this way everyone gets a fair chance.

Yep this is awesome Me and a select few gather freaks can help fill in the quotas for mad seals. Of course, if you don't want to gather yourself, you can always buy from my bazaar.

I think that if enough items were in the randomized selection, people would be less likely to hoard them and more likely to go out and race to get them after the NPC announced them. But that's just my prediction. The, I'm sure some would just choose to hoard every item on the server. o.0

What I got out of this was basically that, instead of weekly caps, we get daily caps, and the item won't change for a week. So if you miss it one day, instead of having a heart attack and sobbing for weeks with 300 [useless item] on your retainer, you try again the next day, and if you work that day, the next. I think it sounds like a great improvement. ^^ Also, it's 28 hours, not 24. So that will account for other time zones that, like I mentioned somwhere else, had to be up at insane hours of the early morning to trade items.

I personally don't think it is a good solution ... same problem, but at different intervals.

I think so it is every 28 hours so people can have another chance to turn in items (rather than having to wait a week).
I also think it is 28 (rather than 24) so that it shifts 4 hour time zone each time. Gives everyone around the world a chance to play!

I think this is a good solution. Keep in mind, the total number of seals your character can have is capped too. By shifting the reset time on a daily basis gives everyone a better opportunity to participate. Yes, there will still be those players who camp it, but so what, to each their own! Isn't that one less person farming <insert item you farm but hate competition here>? I would have liked to see more randomness, but, now that I know I'll have multiple chances to turn items in, I can better prepare should I choose to participate.

As a side note, I wonder if the devs are having this change play into the storyline in any way. Clearly the Grand Companies would be significantly increasing their efforts to stockpile goods by making this change. Could this be a sign of a more immediate danger lurking?

EDIT: Now that I think about it, this does seem to just cause the problem more. That much time will just let the RMT and botters collect more of the item for the next turn in. The issue of the items filling up in less than a minute will still exist.

Yes and no; you can only do so much with your seals; there's also a limit to how many you can have on your character at one time. Eventually, everyone will be max rank and have all the gear they want. RMT can only make so much money from the non-U/U gear available. You can *try* to go through 30,000 seals worth of crafting manuals in 28 hours, but......

I feel like it's an adequate improvement over the old system, but as soon as new items/ranks get released or a surplus of new players hits, you're right. It'll be just as bad as the old system for a while.

However, you now have (up to) 7x the chances you used to have, people will cap their seals much faster and move on, and you get a second (and third, and fourth...and seventh) chance to turn in the items you missed out on trading. I hope that, due to all of this, there will only be a week or two of people SPAMMING trades to cap seals, and then it'll calm down again.

Essentially, people can get seals at 7x the rate they used to, so hopefully people will cap out consistently, giving the rest of us a chance.

I think it would be good to at least randomize the week. Not every single item, of course, but each week it would be random which of the 8 sets we get. That would at least stop people from hoarding before the week starts. And, if they do want to hoard all 8 weeks' items, thats's their own problem and they can't really complain about inventory issues.

me and few others posted on that JP thread, doing this only allows those few people who trade in items instantly to instead of having them stand every monday morning but to stand there every 28 hours... would of been happier seeing devs implement system where it's per user cap, instead of per GC cap, but then again someone did say if that person already capped on GC Company Seals he/she wouldn't even need to bother so just need to wait for then I guess...

Another shortsighted band-aid by the devs. Good thing they got bigger problems... awww crap.

Personally, I'm not going to pass judgement on the changes until I see them in action.

when people complain that things run out on their server does every category run out? Or are you guys just upset that you cant all turn in the easy fish? Seriuosly rabanastre is not very populated so only the fish cap and maybe the wood.

Exactly RMT could have a field day with this, ie Sitting by the NPC selling items.

Making a repeatable weekly or daily quest with randomly generated request-able items.

I don't know why this dev team do things so counter-productively.

While the 28 hour rule is nice... As said before all it will do is make people camp every 28 hours instead. Remember people spend an entire week farming the next week's items. That can give them a dozen+ stacks. When the reset first happens, each category caps in about a minute. The most one person could possibly get in is 5 stacks. Then they have another day to farm the exact item. They will know the exact time of reset due to it being 28 hours from fill, then camp and turn in what they farmed/didn't turn in the first time.

The system needs to be randomized items instead of a cycle. Or if you simply must do a cycle, do it over every single gather/crafted item so the pool is very large and much harder to predict and farm for.

But then I had an epiphany.... For right now (At least until the server merge) Wont people get to the seal cap and have no need to go to the turn in... So each week (And soon each 28 hours) there is a chance less people will show up for the turn in time

I said that too. :3 But then I also said that it was only a temp. fix... because as soon as new GC ranks/items are released, or new players are introduced to the system... it'll just get camped again. :/
