Is it possible to start Pagos now?

I decided to check it out after reading the train is back. I am level 20. When I enter and ask for a group no one invites. No one joins if I try to make one. It seems like everyone is lv30+ at this point.

If a NM pops it is always too far away for me to make it in time since I don't have a mount and the map is so big. Everything hits really hard so soloing isn't viable.

Over the last few days I tried to give the content a chance, but ended up logging out after 20 minutes and playing another game.

To be honest, I am slowly giving up on Pagos. I’m 27 in there and with only 2 hours of playtime a night, I just cant spend it in all in Pagos because of the horribly long and slow ramp up. I need to do other things besides Pagos so that only gives me, at best two nights a week to try. Between those two night, I *may* get the challenge log done.

I agree with you that what they call the train is not the train from Anemos, it’s jist a bunch of level 30+ people who are willing to wait an hour for something to spawn and then burn it down in less than a minute.

With patch 4.4 only two weeks away, I am going to let Pagos and the relic probably go unless something major is done.

If your not 30+ by now, Pagos is going to be hurtfully hard at this point. Best of luck

After finishing with Pagos and returning to the main game, I was suddenly having a lot more fun. I suspect I'm not alone if the conditions you're describing are becoming the norm.

Yes, I just leveled to 35 a couple days ago from 20. It was a slog though. Before level 30, NMs give a large amount of EXP, so those levels go by quick. Once you get to 30+ and get the crystal by Arthro it gets less annoying.

My suggestion to fencesitters if they really don't want to do it, do the challenge log every week so if they release Logos and it has something cool that you want you aren't still level 20 and have to grind two zones. By the time they release Logos you should be near max level even if you just do the log every week. The Log scales and gives about a level and a bit even if you just go back to Anemos and kill easy stuff.

Check PF for chain groups if you want to level using those. Most of the players in there are now 35 so finding a group while inside is tough. Trains are hit and miss - depends how lazy the instance is. Sometimes no one is doing anything at all, other times there are a lot of people. If you want to train do it around prime time EST/PST on NA servers. Weekends are good around afternoon and later. As far as I could tell, early morning is usually dead except light farm groups.

I really wish they would stop adding leveling systems to side content.

It doesn't make any sense and it just makes things even more annoying. It's like they don't know how to design content without either taking away abilities, gear, levels, or all three.

What are you talking about it makes total sense based on the story line. It can be a bit of hassle, welcome to MMO's, yes, however gives us something to do for those who are into relics and have maxed everything else -.- besides it's not that hard, simple mechanics, gear and abilities are not taking away they just added a elemental weakness and defense wheel. They took away fate trains why? do to people complaining it was not fair -.-. Challenge books was updated and duo in is a nice alternative to quick xp while you wait for Fates. To some is annoying, normally do to lack of common sense that that in the old days there was an xp penalty for most MMO's. Hell some still have it. the game is too easy as it is anyways-.-/. Besides people can duo , can get decent xp. and just people for fates then others leave simple.

If you're starting now and no life it you should have enough time to get a single relic by the time 4.4 drops. If that doesn't sound appealing to you i'd honestly just say forget it and wait until Pagos gets nerfed into the ground.

I am lvl 23 and starting is very hard. I already have a 370 weapon. Pagos is very boring though. Daily I look to see if there are any low level groups in PF, but for the most part there are not.


I got fed up and am just going to get the tomestone weapon and wait until Pagos gets nerfed into the dirt and go back and get the weapon for glamour. Honestly SB has rubbed me the wrong way from story, to spreading out content to the relic being put behind this crap piece of content they call Eureka.

Its possible to start Pagos. But its not fun and it will take a considerable amount of time, time that could be spent elsewhere or on another game.

Possible? Yes. Efficient, no. Good luck doing your challenge log each week and that's it.

If someone really wants to delve into it, they can do much more than just challenge log. As long as you know to focus light, when you hit ele 25, the relic grind will go much quicker. Start a PF for your level at 25+. You will likely still hit ele 35 and have way more than 500 crystals before finishing your light. I cannot speak to how it looks if you focus hitting ele 35, but maybe Vaer can give you an idea.

You can ride the train, if there is one. However, things will take much longer, and you will have to grind light anyway. You will also be removing light grinding locations away from yourself, since you out-leveled them. The only advantages to the train exp push are logistical. For some people, they are the advantages that they feel they need. So that depends on the person.

I'm in the same boat, I can't join the NM train because once it dies everyone runs away to the next spot in a manner that I can't match since they have mounts or just tele via the crystal. I can't even kill the first mob that I come across past the gate and no luck getting enough people my level to do it, I will try again during the weekend but it felt like the worst part of xi just sitting there shouting for an hour. Also, in xi at least we had sneak and invis, the amount of mobs packed together in this map is a bit much.

go into anemos and complete your challenge logs there. you'll get to 22-23 very easily. that should help you get around the first available part of the map. few more nms and you'll get to 25-26. then next week's challenge logs will get you 27-28. and then you're screwed because 4.4 drops and everyone will be doing that for however long it takes them to do that (i'd say a month). then people will trickle back into Pagos.

Yeah thats probably the best option, I found the nm train still alive and well in anemos to my surprise.

Anemos is doing fantastic while Pagos is having trouble.

Apparently, if we knew how, it’s possible to spawn the NMs just as fast as Anemos but we have yet to figure out the trick give spawning each one. The Devs wanted us to try things out and work as a community to figure out how to unlock each one but they are now starting to think that they may have made it too hard to discover.

Hopefully they will give us some hints soon, otherwise, Pagos is going to be as dead as HoH is during prime time.

The other thing they need to do is move all the sleeping dragons into a farmable spot and allow for faster and safer movement around the map. There is enough danger in the zone as it is, we don’t need more one shot mechanics.

Ultimately, they need to give up on making it hard and let us have fun. Ride the train and get all the relics you want!

A lot of people don't care about the story dude, also this isn't a "welcome to mmos" type thing. No other mmo on the market constantly takes away your progression with level syncs, ilvl syncs, and constantly adding leveling to side content. Because other mmos know how to make lasting difficult content without taking away your progression.

Eureka could've still been tied to the relics and made challenging/lasting without the whole leveling thing all over again.

I managed to find a train group this afternoon. I spent awhile trying to reach them and died multiple times. By the time I got close something else spawned and everyone ran back off in another direction. I ended up just leaving in frustration. This just isn't a good way to spend my free time. I used to like making relics a lot :(

I work full time and when I tried Pagos when it launched I couldn’t get into it like I did with Anemos. I recently started again after the fate exp changes. I won’t lie. 20 to 30 are a nightmare and you will struggle and scream in frustration at missing fates but if you can preserve after level 30 it gets a lot easier and more fun. I also get very limited time to play like the OP but levelling is not the problem with Pagos it’s the light farm at level 34/35, it’s soul destroying lol

Hmmm there are a few of them old MMo's and your right hence it's considered OPTIONAL content. I mean people who like cash shops and simple things really kill a good game. This has been nerfed sooo much only reason I play it is for lore. Most people actually enjoy the lore. Also keep in mind, relics history and how they work. IT"S AN OPTIONAL GRIND. Game is too easy as it is.

Please quit say Pagos is optional. If by that logic all. Content is optional out side of MSQ. It’s not optional by any means. Ppl must do it to have any chance or getting a relic. Bc let’s face it in 1-2 months no one will ever go back. I haven’t the slightest idea on how SE is going to nerfthis content later.

That is the logic. though. In order to progress in most content, you have to progess in MSQ. You don't need relic.

If you're a low level, just stay to the NM's on the south end of the map. They give tons of exp now. If an NM pops in the north, forget about it. You won't reach it in time.

People keep asking for a more dangerous overworld, which is in a way what Pagos is, and now that we have something along these lines people are complaining about it and ask that it gets nerfed XD There is nothing hard and dangerous about the dragons, know where they are, walk instead of running, turn off your summons that might trigger them, and you are done. I really dont get why so many players ask for a raise near them, maybe they just have to stop to want to rush the content faster, faster, always faster, to the point that disabling running during a few seconds is out of the question for them, even knowing that they will die doing so and losing way more time asking for a rez. I even wonder at what point dragons are some troll of SE's developpers making fun of mad rushers who dont know when to go slower.

Back to the main topic, of course it is. Especially with the 4.4 being as far as the 18th september.

As already stated multiple times, the challenge log is a good way to start up, to gain some levels easily and getting more options to level by being able to go further into the map. This can be done solo, either in Pagos or Anemos. If you want extra xp during the process, aim for mobs your level instead of lower ones (it will be slower to kill them though).

Dont forget your eureka's potions and to use them constantly when soloing, especially if you are a class without healing skills. It might be obvious and not worth mentionning, but since i have seen some players that were so carried by the Anemo's train that once in Pagos they were not even knowing what an Eureka's potion was, i prefer to say it anyway.

Even if there might be cases like having a godlike tank that never let you being attacked, thus allowing you to put 5 attack magicites in the same element as a dps, using a 2/3 or 3/2 combination for the magia board is a good average. Again it might obvious and not worth mentionning, but i know someone who was putting 1 magicite in each element, thinking it was making his character balanced.

Unlock as soon as you can the first aetheryte, because they are a few fates around them. Get used to look at the chat and the map regularly to see if there is a fate easily accesible for you. Even solo you can get good xp from them if you manage to not be killed by the aoes or some adds, which is way easier if you are a ranged class, and end up knowing the few annoying boss skills to watch out for.

With most mobs aggroing you when you enter their vision field, when you are sneaking when they have their back turned to you, dont forget to play some Metal Gear's theme in your head to feel like in an infiltration game.

Once the challenge log finished, if you are used to farm mobs in mmos, doing it in Pagos is actually quite fast comparing to some other grinding corean's games i used to play, where you did get 1% of the xp required to level up per hour (but it will likely seems slow and boring if you are not used to that, so dont do it if you dont feel like it or you will only end up disgusted). You might not be able to do full 30 chains, but i usually did manage to do 20-25 ones being solo.

Always wonder if wanting to go somewhere in a hurry might be counter-productive for you. If a fate far ahead has already been pulled, that you have a long way to go to reach it while being alone with nobody around to rez you, it might not be a good idea to take the risk of being killed in the process. Especially when players near the fate, not wanting to lose the xp and items from it, are not gonna go back to rez you until the boss is down.

As you level you will get more and more options to xp, and eventually being to join the fate train full time.

I gave up today. When it first released, I stepped inside for an hour or two and quit cause I just couldn't bare how boring it was. A couple days ago I said, "Might as well I guess." Turned on Netflix and went inside as lv 20. No one will invite a lv 20. No parties are killing monsters by the gate, no one invites level 20s, and walking to where everyone else is, is a pain in itself. I went in again today and got into a party. They said, "You should just go join a chain group." How am I to join a chain group when there are none? I managed to do one fate by the south side, then everyone teleported to above the cliffs. I just said, "I'm just gunna back out, doesn't seem worth it." and dipped.

I personally would not bother at this point until they nerf it into the ground. It simply isn't worth it and there are far better things to do. FFXIV is slowly becoming a game I absolutely hate logging into. Only reason I'm sticking around is because it is a game I grew to love and I'm praying 5.0 makes some DRASTIC changes to bring back the light. If 5.0 turns out to be this again, I'm not sure I will be sticking around any longer and I'm more than positive a lot of others will dip too if it continues this way.

No one said it's forced nor that it's hard, I'm not sure why you're focusing on that. Besides even if Eureka is optional, that has nothing to do with a good chunk of content doing the same.

My sole and only point is, there was really no need for them to tie another leveling system to it. Especially since there's a lot of people that are trying to level, missed the hype train and can't get a leveling group. Again, it's like they can't design challenging content without taking away our levels, gear, or both.
