The new Boulevardier set got discussed briefly in some other topics, but didn't get a dedicated thread.
With Pagos (and thus the materials) being available for a few weeks, prices on the set are coming down to affordable levels now, and I've noticed a few people wearing it.

Overall the set is... not standard fashion, but perhaps some people will like it as-is, and I think it has good potential combined with other pieces of gear.
The shorts will tuck into long boots, so they can be used for quite a different effect.
What do you all think of it? I'd love to see some pictures if you're using it in interesting ways.

It has bad dye option except if u wanna dye it darker.
I wanted it pure white but the vest turns into grey instead of white.
It annoys me that if a robe is oiginally lighter and has dark details into it, the dark parts turns into grey if u dye it pure white while jet black covers all and tunrs that detailed part bit darker. -

Honestly surprised they didn't just have the male/female sets use the same materials and add them to Pagos boxes. It would help drive the prices down and maybe encourage players to go into the zone for NM/warped chests. It really is an odd set though, but some guys like it..... the shirt at least anyways.

I was deeply disappointed by these pants and don't understand the intention of the design here. I did not want more plain slacks like the bonding set or best man's pants but goodness, these are too far in the other direction.
The shoes are gorgeous at least. The top would have been very handsome if it had tailored sleeves with cuff links or something rather than sleeves that remind me of something my grandma would look nice in. Perhaps I'm not understanding Japanese fashion? -

I appreciate that SE finally made a matching set for crafted glamour, but... uh, those pants though. At least most of the boot options get that mess under control.
Hoping the next iteration (there BETTER be one!) takes inspiration from a different and less billowy, ruffly source. -

Personally, I like the set; but, I'd like to see it on a lalafell first before I decide if I want to devote gil and time getting it. Seriously, how low do those leg frill things go on a lalafell? If they go low enough they might be fun as a bell bottom jean look. -

I’d tried a more colourful version first with the hat and pants dyed red, which might look good on another character, but it was too bright on him so I decided to match the original colour scheme of the set. I was going to also match the pose of the Elezen in the promo shot - I did find it but it just looked awkward. Maybe this pose didn't show off the shorts very well.
The Riviera pants are pretty close to what I was thinking should have gone with the set in the first place. -

On all of your screenshots, the top looks really nice. But I tried it on with my male Au Ra and it looked horrible on him, because the ruffled collar looked so incredibly huge. I have to try it on again, maybe I can get used to it.
The pants only work with boots that hide the wide part.
The shoes are a no-go for me though. They are almost high-heels and the heels are golden. While I absolutely love ruffled and laced clothes and Victorian style, aristocrat or similar styles, those are way too much, and for me, personally(!), to feminine. -

I think they have quite a deep chest front-to-back? And gear isn't designed for it, just stretched into shape afterwards. I've been tending towards giving him outfits in the approximate style of his starter gear, like the Thavnairian set. Meanwhile my Elezen gets all the elegant things like the High House coat. (Although that didn't look too bad for Au Ra either. Maybe because the collar is more fitting and doesn't get in the way of their horns.)Quote:

Not only the ones with big collars, but some coats look weird at the waist area because instead of having the shape of their waist or going normally around it the coats have very "sharp" curves. I don't know how to say it. If you look at the Aymeric coat on Elezen, Hyur or Miqo'te it looks normal. On Au Ra I noticed some kind of sharp edge around their waist when I tried it on.
Problem is, I only like those elegant style clothes, so I only have very few pieces to work with. ^^'
I just tried the Boulevard vest on again and while the vest part looks good, the collar and also the sleeves are just HUGE on Au Ra. The sleeves could be hidden with some long gloves or sleeves, but most of them aren't fitting at all for that kind of style. -

I noticed the vest makes a good alternative to the Riviera Doublet, but as I think someone mentioned; the dye job doesn't always come out as you'd expect. Being able to dye the vest and the shirt under it seperately would be great (well for many body pieces not just this), also the collar clips through certain things like an unseathed SCH/SMN's chin, and some headgear.

09-04-2018, 08:02 PMIscahThe waist issues are another thing with their unusual shape - all the other male characters have a more 'rectangular' body shape but Au Ra are 'triangular' so the clothing model has to be tapered in. I remember seeing some of them didn't fit very well. Again it probably does work best on things like the High House coat since that style is supposed to fit like that anyway.Quote:
