What do you all love in FFXIV?

Soken's musical prowess.

The art style, the plot, monk, and the fact I'm able to play this for months on months without being bored. I normally finish games within a week and I never return to them. Xiv broke that mode. Plus it's on ps4 so it's like the best. :D

Thanks for all of the fun raids/trials, nice glamours, housing system, and all of the nice looking mounts! My fave so far is Raigo, Firebird, and Alte Roite mounts.

Thank you for this thread n_n Reading the forum one could get the impression there are only problems and missing content but that couldn't be further from the truth. While the game is undoubtedly marred by some anachronistic design choices and QoL flaws, I think that all of them are ultimately fixable and the overall experience is still a net positive.

Personally I love the fact that every major patch brings us a couple hours worth of story content! No other MMO I've played is so committed to its narrative <3

I love that the story content is gradually becoming more and more interactive and aware of my character's race, gender and class and even gives me rudimentary dialogue choices to express feelings about what's happening, without presuming my character's motivations and willingness to go along. It's not SWTOR-level of choices and consequences yet, and it might never get there, but I appreciate it nonetheless.

I love the fact that customisation and RP-friendly features like glamour, housing and emotes continue to be improved and expanded upon. Although glamour is still limited by the aforementioned QoL issues, I believe that it will get better over time. Fashion Fantasy is MY end game so I treat it very seriously and I'm happy that the devs are also giving it the proper amount of attention and respect.

I love crafting! It's light years ahead of any other MMO I've played in terms of control over the synthesis process. I appreciate having so many means to mitigate RNG and adapt my approach based on my needs, the difficulty of the craft and materials used, or to come up with optimal macros for the stuff I want to mass-produce.

I love the music and visuals! The number of times I stopped in awe to look at something pretty or listen to a piece of music (and got smacked by an easily dodgeable AoE) serves as a testament to how stylish, beautiful and immersive the art is!

I love that I can do some things once a week, at the pace set by the challenge logs, and be adequately rewarded. I don't have to spend 24/7 playing content that I might not enjoy grinding but still be able to make substantial progress. It gives me more time to engage in content I do actually want to play without feeling like I'm missing out. My OCD is grateful.

I love that ilvl cap increases every couple of months (and not only when an expansion comes out) and the no-longer-current gear becomes easier to acquire. Allowing me to catch up and/or acquire glamours that were previously out of my reach either difficulty-wise or time-wise.

Yes, I'm a filthy casual but I'm also a happy casual n_n

i love coming home to my daddylander everyday. ahhhhhhhhhhh

I appreciate them sticking to most of the RPG elements that draw me to their Final Fantasy games in the first place:
-gaining experience points
-open world exploration
-secrets to collect
-great story and motivations
-great graphics
-fully customizable character

personally, I loved diadem and eureka is even better and of course heavensward and stormblood story and zone design

The story, the music, and the fanservice.

The crafting system is also the best in any MMO I know of. I do wish they would better utilize it, though.

The music, <3 The story is only getting better, and I love the effort they put into the glam and housing features! I always feel like I have something to accomplish, and this is 2 years later with only a handful of weeks total break.

Right now? Spending quality time with my friends.

Before 4.3? Doing content and working on various achievements . . . and spending quality time with my friends.

Gpose.
I love outdoor photoshoot. Can spend entire day sitting at a spot waiting for the perfect weather, align my character to the constantly moving moon/sun for a good frame. Use different emotes to achieve certain gestures. So many things I can control to capture a good looking screenshot!

Housing and Glamour are my endgame and I appreciate them!

It would probably be easier to say what I do not like, but highlights include the beautiful characters, beautiful music, beautiful environments, great story, plenty of things to do that are quite different, and I have a great FC on Zalera now to enjoy it all with. I could nitpick, but I would feel so petty with all the good that is everywhere. So I'll leave it at that, and say here's to the next 5 years of this game. I know I please look forward to it. ^_^

Most of all, I love the community. A majority of the community is so nice and helpful and accepting of any mistakes. Plus, I got super lucky and found a fantastic FC that makes this game so much more enjoyable.

I also love that this game is so casual friendly. Raiding isn't THE game like it is in WOW. It's nice that I could raid if I wanted to but I don't have to. I love being able to just ride around and take spontaneous screenshots or pick flowers or just sit in the yard of my house if I want to. There's always so much to do if I choose to do it, I feel like I will never run out of things to do!

~ Community - I think this game has a really good community, I rarely see bad ppl and most of the time the ppl I get in df/pf are fun to play with. Mistakes happen, and if they happen too often in a farm group I will just leave and join another one. And I have a great FC :3
~ Extreme trials and savage raids - I'm also interested in the ultimate fights, but atm I'm not willing to spend so much time to progress in a single encounter.
~ Glamour - Because as we all know, glamour is the real endgame. I wouldn't mind having more options, but I like the ones we currently have.
~ Music - this game has so many great soundtracks, I love it *_*
~ Minions & Mounts - I like collecting them (but I have to admit that I got pretty tired after killing Byakko 99x)

Can't say anything about the story because I'm one of those ppl who skip through everything x)

Story: This is probably my main draw for any game. It's why I love the Final Fantasy games, and a big part of why I love FFXIV.

Characters: Really a subset of 'story' for me (and, pointedly, not the other way around).
Character design: The characters are so gorgeous (especially the ladies of the Miqo'te and Au Ra, and especially especially Y'shtola)! And I always appreciate when a game's character creator allows me to create a character who looks awesome, rather than hideous. That might not sound like such a rare or outlandish feature, but anyone else who has played Soulsborne or TES games will know my pain.

Lore: This is something I wished that the game put front-and-center a bit more; both in terms of having lore impact the main plot, and also in the accessibility of the lore. Some sort of in-game codex would be nice, especially if it contained distilled entries for what went down in the raids and so on for those of us who don't do the raids.

Combat: Being an Aussie, MMO's that opt for action combat only result in suffering, so I really appreciate FFXIV's more traditional tab-targeting fare. But, while it may be traditional, and even 'conservative' in some respects, it is absolutely on the leading edge of interesting mechanics, awesome effects, and impactful animations. I mean, I feel much more powerful as a DRK swinging around a telephone-pole slab of metal around than I do in the comparatively more action-oriented ESO.

Sights and sounds: While I think the game is in need of some higher-resolution character textures, and perhaps another overhaul to the lighting engine, it still has some of the best vistas in the world of MMO's. Moreover, the art design consistently saves the experience even when technical limitations rear their ugly heads. And of course, that music...

Fluid detailed animations, and a smooth, practical run animation on one gender of one race. I couldn't care less about most of the gaudy particle effects, and I wish my mancat didn't have to swagger-skip so much.

The story is certainly a plus, even if its scaling (zone design as per lore, e.g. all those Xaela tribes in one tiny caldera or Ala Mhigo being some 1000x the size of Ul'duh, in contrast with the lore) and execution (purple destination haze circles =/= an exciting sense of pursuit) could be better.

The colors. Though not true of every zone, there are some that seem uniquely striking in this game if only due to their colors (and perhaps the lack of otherwise ubiquitous Unreal Engine-ness). Cliff textures, draw distance, map edges as viewed from flight, and that weird graphical shiver effect (when growing nearer or farther from textures) that I've only seen on Luminous engine (almost looks like colors not being re-squared before being averaged via anti-aliasing or whatnot, leaving dark lines at any merge area) could all use work there too though...

Boss themes are mostly top of the line. Field and zone combat themes, one the other hand, are hit-or-miss. I remember wanting back Nobuo's catch leve themes when I first started leveling through the Black Shroud, and a handful of areas since have left me similarly disappointed with their music. A mere handful out of as many as we have now is still pretty good, though.

(Most) healers and tanks understand that they can meaningfully contribute to clear times by more than just meat-tanking or heal-spamming.

And, oddly enough, oGCDs. I like the feeling of those back-to-back opening double-weaves, on the rare night my internet allows such without clipping. I always figured I'd be happier with a slightly faster GCD (2 to 2.25 base), but if it meant fully losing double-weaves... then probably not.

Healers and tanks make significant contributions to DPS.
The weird random race options that really make no sense.
The all job - one character system. I don't need ALTS.
Random weird appreciation of Japanese stuff from people [although this can be over-bearing at times]

The general aesthetics of the game; combat animation, aera, monsters, npc...

All the theme of this game, and I love a good amount of them.

The community.

That one character can do everything.

That they try to make every job feel unique, gameplay wise. It's not an easy thing to do, and they made it work, for the most part.

That they didn't abandonned the game back in v1.0.

I have a lot of problem with this game, but there is also a lot a good stuffs in it too.

I love this game because FFXIV has never made me feel like I'm wasting my time, or is forcing me to play it. The Dev's are really nice and listen to players, the community is great, the mogstation has some nice stuff in it but none of them makes me feel like its mandatory that I buy any of them. 1-2 hours and I feel like I accomplished a lot and can move on and do something else IRL xD.

Gear caps and multiple ways to gear up really gives casuals and hardcore players something to aim for :D.

I also never got that Onion Helm! Oh well, what's done is done.
And yeah I liked the goggles so much I keep them as glamour. Not many people these days recognize them by name at a glance.

1. The fact that you can play all classes and switch freely on one character.

2. The fact that crafting/ gathering classes are also treated as jobs.

I don't know where to start, as I love almost everything about this game. FFXIV erased the very bitter taste that other games left for me, haha.

What first truly attached me to it was the attention to detail this game has; the kind of fluff and social content that other games lack in one way or another. Simple things like being able to sit anywhere, being able to actually turn your head towards other characters, control of facial expressions, cities prepared with social spaces (like the outside restaurant in Limsa Lominsa!)... even characters being able to have a name and a family name, which makes it very easy to give them legit and non ridiculous names! Everything is just too perfect for someone like me, who likes using games as creative tools and wants to feel the world and my characters alive.

To that, add super good graphics, adorable characters, great fashion system, great housing system, friendliest endgame ever (unlike my previous game –coughs coughs-), a story that gradually becomes very good, the possibility to play with Japanese voices (instead of having to resort to mods and being banned for it like it happened in my previous game –coughs coughs-), and you have me completely in love. FFXIV has offered all the things that the previous games I played failed to deliver. It has done more and has done it better, and I'm eternally thankful for that.

While other games stop at the most superficial layer of leveling and getting equipment, FFXIV has given me a world that I can actually enjoy and live in. And contrary to what many people say, the game is only becoming better in my opinion. I'm such a fangirl, but I have every reason to be!

Main Story Quest and music, the other content have declined, in my opinion. We either get less content or the same thing.
