Exactly, it's only August, it's still 11 months away.
I don't know how everyone knows the late July date and not the early August update, but it's supposed to be going through app review processes and coming out soon. All the info has been in live letters.
If you have been following SE over the past 20 or so years you would understand nothing ever comes out when they say it will. And don't expect updates, further information or any kind of open communication, they don't do that.
The last update we have on the companion app was during the Live Letter.

TLDR: Eventually. It's waiting on Appstore/Google Play approval.
in this case it's indeed not in the hands of SE. They said in the last LL that the app is up for review/approving by Apple and Android and that they have no idea how long that will actually take. Yoshi even said to expect it to be released on a very short notice
I'm not sure about Google, but Apple's return time for that is about 2-3 weeks, iirc? And that's assuming it's otherwise "perfect" to them. WE don't know exactly when they were submitted, but I'd say it's safe to assume that it'll launch in August unless something has gone wrong.
Hello, everyone. This is FFXIV Producer and Director, Naoki Yoshida.
During a recent Letter from the Producer LIVE, I mentioned our new companion app would be released around the end of July or the beginning of August. Unfortunately, we’ve had to push back this date, and I wish to apologize, as well as explain the reason for the delay.
Testing and debugging of the app itself is complete, and we submitted it to distributors at the end of July. As you might imagine, FFXIV Companion contains features not typically found in a mobile app, some of which require registration and installation of the game. The implementation of these features has necessitated several exchanges with the distributors, which has delayed the processing of our submission by several days.
Furthermore, upon closer inspection of the app’s features─more specifically, the chat function─while there are no problems with its functionality, there were certain aspects of the design we weren’t completely satisfied with, which have since been adjusted.
Our submission should be processed within a few days, and we plan to release the app as soon we receive approval, which could even be this week.
Again, I apologize for the delay, and I ask that you bear with us a little while longer.
It's on the google play store but not available for everyone yet.
So it's going to actually let you chat with your FC members in some kind of meaningful way now, and not just be some inferior Discord, right?
You know, the feature that people actually wanted this app for. The one feature you touted 3 years ago when you first mentioned this thing was in development.
Considering they haven't hit a deadline in ages, I would say don't be surprised by this.
Can anyone confirm whether it had been available for a while for iOS as well? If not - I suspect that the verification process on Google Play had been done more quickly than they expected, and they took down the App for the time being so that there wouldn't be a shitstorm because iOS has yet to wait.
Shitstorm already exists, because the app has been deactivated. Enix just slept with IOS.
Geez, calm down a bit, will you? If you were an iOS user, you'd be crying about not having the App while others do. They will have a reason for taking it down, so nothing much one can do except waiting.
what's a conpanion anyway? xD
Apple is notorious for apps taking long on their store. SE should not make Android wait for the convenience of Apple users who chose to be in such a system.
Why everyone so up in arms about this app anyways? Between the subscription and IAP it's gonna cost a pretty penny to use a good portion of the meaningful uses of this app.
Seems like it's up for real now.
anyone else try to load this app only to have it close immediately? no message, no clue as to why either
it's the android version
No response from the server. Error Code: -1004
Android version
Fully functioning for me. Seems at the vey least intriguing.
App working like a charm on my iPhone. It was a little slow during setup but after that it's smooth sailing. Already finding it useful, though I'm a little disappointed I can't check the MB whilst also logged into the client. I had hoped to use it for checking prices of things I'm gathering instead of having to teleport to a MB.
Only weird thing is I can't find the premium option. I checked on the App Store page and wherever I could look in the app itself and it seems to not have been implemented yet? Going to assume for now it's been delayed, either to avoid issues with first day release or it's not entirely ready yet.
The APP crashes immediately on my Pixel 2 running Android 9.0
Crashes immediately for me on an iPhone X. Surprised it got through Apple's certification like that if this is common. Maybe the server it wants is just overloaded. ...but that's when you add a "cannot connect" error instead of crashing.
Those unable to install due to no compatibility or not available to your country, there's an APK in the Reddit thread https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...available_now/
Also here's the cost of moogle coins

I just got this App, and besides the error messages trying to log in, its now working just fine.
However, its a shame that the App doesn't really offer anything much besides limited MB access and a free teleport on the free version.
It really should have, at the very least, retainer organization. If I wanted to chat with FFXIV friends, Discord is faster.
I got in to the app eventually and honestly it all feels a little basic, as if some of the features are still missing so either it shouldn't of been released yet or extra things are coming at a later date. I suppose it's handy in the mean time in some ways but can't see it being something I'd log in to everyday (especially for the login bonus...).
Yay, Error Code: -1002 extreme.
I got in and i'm surprised premium isnt available, any reason why?
Another problem, I had to grab the APK file from a friend to get it to work on my phone - for some reason does SE hate Samsung devices.
I agree, and this took them 3+ years to develop
Very likely, yeah.
From the NA lodestone:
"* More features, including those available through the premium service plan, will be released once the stability of the app has been confirmed post-launch. These features and their release dates will be detailed in future announcements."
I guess that includes the Premium feature (first thing I tried to find as well), as the special site says it's currently unavailable (* The premium service plan is scheduled for release soon but is currently unavailable.).

By design. They want to confirm the app is stable before turning on the subscription. Probably a smart choice.
