Dont you feel something's lacking?

So, we stopped the Garleans from conquering all of Eorzea with Ultima Weapon
We ended a thousand year old conflict between dragons and Ishgardians
We liberated two whole countries

The question is, where is our fan club?

Sure our usual quest givers knows us and are pretty much buddy-buddy with us, but what about the masses?

Where are the children playing "Im the warrior of light, and you are the black wolf!"?

Where are the fan boys/fan girls that swoon while screaming "Warrior of light-sama!"?

Considering how much of a big deal we have become, youd expect someone would have asked for our autograph by now.

Humility.

Probably has some iota to do with how much lore time has passed. All of ARR took place in under a year (due to a similar question being asked in 2014). HW hadn't been released yet. No idea what the time span is now.

I want to say I've gotten the impression that it's mostly the Companies, the Alliance and adventurers that know of us. What happened in the Coils, for instance, is a do-not-speak-of-the-events-that-have-taken-place-here. The fight with Ultima Weapon, I'd gather, would be similar (it's not like IRL we know what our soldiers do out on the field in war, except what is told to us... and this is a modern setting).

I honestly think it's mostly people don't know a face to match the title. Everyone seems to have heard of the Warrior of Light (at least from primal slaying), but when you look at the dialogue, people tend to be surprised that you're the Warrior of Light.

It's probably for the better that the general public doesn't seem to know we're the Warrior of Light.

It would draw a lot of attention both good and bad.

How would the potential fans recognise us?
Remember that there is no photography nor any TV in Eorzea.
Even if there are fans of the Warrior of Light, most of them will never have seen any kind of picture of the WoL. They may have heard descriptions, but those will often be somewhat exaggerated.

In short - people in general will not know that you are the WoL unless they are told.

I just want people to stop asking me to their mundane chores. Honestly I'm hardcore relating to Mr. Incredible at this point.

People knowing us, and people knowing OF us are two different things. The example of children playing at being the WoL vs. the Black Wolf is a good one, and I really wouldn't mind seeing some lines like that thrown around. It's nice when characters we interacted with in the past appear again and reference it, but a lot more people should at least be talking about us, even if only by title and not name (mandatory cliche "hey you have the same name as the WoL but you can't possibly be them because of this arbitrary funny reason")

You're an adventurer, running mundane chores for gil and spoils is part of the job description. Now if they can please stop having people who KNOW we're the WoL do it, and insult us further by lampshading it, that'll be sweet.
But it's still funny. Imagine you commission the adventurer guild for something and you get the WoL to run it. It's like the story about Bill Murray eating some guy's fries and telling him that no one'd ever believe him.

That's what I meant; I'm not sure if it's just me but it feels like it's becoming a more common occurrence lately - "I realize such a task is beneath someone of your stature, but would you mind doing this task that is beneath someone of your stature?"

Should be a side quest in the next expansion where you meet your fan club.

I am just waiting for the weird sideline where enough people pray to us to save the world that we end up fighting ourselves as a primal or something but because most of them don't know what we look like, it's just a giant glowy derplander.

You do recall what happen with Alphinaud's Crystal Braves Group right? That was the result of saving Eorzea, afterwards the story explained why the warrior of light does not have a fan club, however he is recognized by Major NPC's.

I recall a manlet starting a fake GC without the WoL as leader or second-in-command and hiring a bunch of random mooks some of which were known criminals or just plain lunatics. I also recall them taking money from Ul'dah which was the entire point of the Scions being poor - they didn't take money from Ul'dah. WoL has a fan club, plenty of people recognize the Scions, they just randomly decide we don't matter on a tip of the hat but then also remember we're the only person who can kill Primals and worship us again, but then go back to ignoring us once it's gone.

The Squadron (as awful as a system as it is) is people who are inspired by WoL's deeds to join up and then there's that one filler quest in 2.X where that miqo'te girl wants to become an adventurer and gets way over her head trying to be like you and apparently isn't the only one, but she's the main one shown.

What? You want a fan club as the most sought delivery man/woman in the realm?
Like a UPS fan club? FedEx fan club? DHL fan club?

Very true just shows the corruption levels of the realm.

As for the squadron system I love it. It seems crappy at first, however once they level up properly and change their AI priorities I think they are far more dependable then some players -.-/

The doman adventures guild kids are the kids playing WoL, we are still adventurers at the core after all. I nice comic relief tho of someone or a small group of people who adore everything you do.

We've got a fan club. They're back in the Doman enclave though, no doubt plotting their next adventure...this time wearing the hats F'lhaminn gave them.

If the next expansion takes place in Garlemand, maybe our "fan club" will be a gang of emo, anti-establishment teens who meet in secret to idolize the Warrior of Light, the greatest enemy of the state.

Outside of places where we hang out a lot like Revenant's Toll, nobody really knows what the Warrior of Light looks like. We may be on a first-name basis with all of the major leaders of the free world, but to the common citizen, we're just another random adventurer. So unless they need a bag of rocks taken to somebody fifteen yalms away, or thirty bear asses to make a potion, or some other oddball task, we're not terribly interesting to them.

Almost everyone knows of the Warrior of Light, but almost no one knows you're the Warrior of Light. In fact, I would say that very few know what the WoL actually looks like. The number would be higher if it were not filled with his/her enemies whom were eliminated. It is also in the Scion's and anyone in league with the WoL best interests that he/she remains largely unknown; making all those fetch quests a VERY practical means to do so.

The true identity of the WoL based off of the age of industrialization on Hydalean would be shrouded in mystery and fairytales. The stories and physical descriptions that start from those who have actually interacted with the WoL, would get so skewed the further they reach towards the edges of civilization. By time it gets there, the physical description of the WoL would be so far off that no one would believe you if you told them.

At this point, I would even go as far as to say that the stories of the WoL has made him/her an icon or symbol more so than an actual person. And that is exactly how my character feels about being the WoL.

I'm imagening a comedic quest line centering around the concept of overzealous fans and the horrors they can bring.

Imagine a pack of overzealous lunatics who will stop at nothing to track down their idol and worship the ground upon which we walk, and the shenanigans that might come about because of their zealotry.

And the WOL having to find some way to get rid of these maniacs.

I'm thinking more like one obsessed but hopelessly dumb fan following us around. Like Conrad Verner from Mass Effect.

This, but they don't know what we look like. They just show up where we've been, cause so much trouble that we have to go back and help calm things down.

I quite like that idea.

I have this mental image of the crazed fans being unable to agree on what the WOL actually looks like, and the club splitting like a religious sect and falling into infighting over which is the "One True Faith" and everybody else getting caught in the crossfire.
