So a friend of mine invited me to play this game with him and some friends... Yet none of them have been playing at all! I've gotten to level 25 on my own, leveled my weaving up to 22, but now I feel like I've hit a wall.
I want a chocobo at least... I'm under the impression there are dungeons and things to explore in this game, but I have no one to party with and no one to explore with. It's lonely. *sniffle*
So I figured I could turn to the forum and ask for some advice. What should I do at this point?
Now I'm lost.

:( Would tell you to transfer servers but getting ur craft to 22 makes me re think that choice. lol Check the forums for your world server Rabanastre and look in the linkshell portion; see if you can find a nice chill linkshell to have people to party with.
Sorry your friends ditched you but there are plenty of folks here to become new friends. ;)

There should be server merge's coming soon hopefully and these should fix this problem, just got to hang in there till then, what you could do is like the OP said find an awesome LS and chill out with them :) GL with You're FFXIV and hope you enjoy the game and stay with us :) -

Anyway, if you truly like the game, then you should definitely continue playing, even if it's just casually and not as a way of just getting levels (doing sidequests, getting achievements, exploring Eorzea, etc.). If it's not for you, then there's no problem walking away from the game (the game will get better, so you can always wait till big patches come so you can see how the game as that point)
One thing I'd recommend you do is doing group content via shouting. Something simple such as leveling, dungeon crawling, exploring, and so on. I'm sure you'll come across someone on your server that seems friendly, and if they have a linkshell, you can ask them if you can join. I've joined many linkshells and have made many friends through doing events via shouts or just helping people with various things or asking for help myself.
Your server has tons of people that I'm sure will want to meet you. :) Even if they don't have a linkshell, you could possibly make one with them! -

Yeeeah, I've been playing since CE release so I know the pain of saying goodbye to friends and being left in the dark -armies of friends even- have come and gone! But the people that have been left standing on Rabanastre have made the effort well worth it
Vigil is the man- he alone is worthy staying on Rabanastre for! haha. You should say hello anytime you see him. Rau is OK too regardless of all the rumours spreading about him
As for linkshell business, I have one full of cool people I can vouch for as carnival approved merchandise. We are in disarray right now however, and about half of our members seem to be on break, and we are in the middle of a reform, but hey if that doesn't bother you I'd love to have you with us. Things should be settled in a few days (a week at max), and as soon as the patch hits we should be back to our original glory.
I was going to build the new LS slowly but since we are now on a -less than two month ticking time bomb of a server- I'll try to speed this process up a bit
We also have a healthy chunk of newer members for you to hang out with- and I myself love running the mid-level content. Toto-Rak, Choco Chocobo, PL or reg exp pts parties, crafting parties, baby Ifrit, NMs! I love NMs- (I don't they share my feelings however) any of that jazz

Also, server transfers are happening...as I'm sure you saw. Regardless of which server you choose, there should be more ppl on it with classes at your level :). So end of march you'll have more people to exp with. As to chatting, I don't check this forum section much and it looks like a couple other of Rab's leaders pointed you in the right direction, but if you have questions in game feel free to ask anytime.

I also had a friend just started. (I also got abandoned by many new commers. :( ) I recommended him not to lv battle and craft together. Crafting job is not interactive with others. so if you spent too much time on it, craft just isolate your game experience further more. Besides, the job system is coming. You really need to have multiple classes over L30 to enjoy the new features.
to sum:- you have to join some of the bunch small circles
- crafting wears people a lot, and it has very minimum fun value (earn gils, play with others) Craft only with leves.
- I like kill stuffs > gathering (earn way more gils than crafters) > crafts. remember when everyone is high lv crafter, the gils is not coming from skills. it's resources/mats. kill sheeps outside LL can give you lots gils. and you can lv other fight jobs. you need these skills to be better player anyway. You might discover your new favorite fighting style too. But focus is also good.
- chocobo quest involve with lots lots running around. I think goobbue mount is much easier to get. all you need is L30. then use that slowly get your chocobo quest done. at L30+ you can solo NM better too.
- don't feel shy to ask for help. most of the current players are bored anyway, and help cost almost nothing to us.
so give us a /t if you saw us online ^^ you can secretly add us to friend list tho. can always remove after. at least you know we online or no. -
