Question about WAR migitation

Hello experienced WAR players!

I've a question about defensive CD for WAR for current tier SB raids/trials.

Are there any content right now that WAR doesn't have enough CDs for at the moment? I'm referring to eating a TB raw because Rampart/Indom is on CD due to short timings between TBs.

An example might be o6n, does Rampart/Vengeance cycle quick enough for each shear? Or do you need to take a raw hit on the third/forth CD?

WAR have the most flexible and strong defensive kit, its imposible run out of CD except you use It all at the same time.
you have to use holmgang to eat some TB, is a 180 recast invulnerability, thats a sentinel, if you cycle It regulary with rampat and vengeance you never run out of CD, WAR defensive kit is extreme good for holmgang being to short, comunícate with You healers and pair holmgang with convalescence for safety.

Hmm, I thought about Holmgang but that is only useful on TB that will 1 shot you right? or if you are already hurt?

What about stacking CDs? Like PLD has Sheltron and DRK has TBN and you can stack them with your CDs. Is it really frowned upon to switch stance and IB?

It\\'s not frowned upon more so you dont need Inner Beast. IB is good because it\\'s a present on demand mitigation in case of emergency, but it isnt something you should feel obligated to do every TB, since Fell Cleave is a better use of beast.

You can use rampart or Raw for fluff damage( raw if damage is physical) or stack rampart+ raw or Vengeance and raw(or rampart), or just use vengeance on it\\'s own( again, assuming damage is physical Thrill can be used along with vengeance if you want more defense and dont plan to buff upheaval.

And holm is always useful in most tankbusters, since most in Savage will most likely one shot you otherwise with no mitigation. But what makes Holm useful is that you can just take the buster alone with nothing else.

The opportunity cost for Inner Beast is pretty high, but it's not the end of the world if you have to do it once or twice. The issue is that if you are put into a situation where you are pressured to do that, then that's likely indicative of a greater problem. More to the point, there's not a situation within Savage (so far) that calls for Inner Beast, so long as you're tank swapping as necessary.

That said, consider that Defiance + Equilibrium can be used in a pinch as well, with much less potency lost (particularly when paired with Unchained); you don't have to use Inner Beast. If you do this, however, make sure not to overcap on Beast gauge. If you have to, then dump it into a Fell Cleave before switching, or use Onslaught. It's also worth mentioning that you can actually gain potency with Defiance + Unchained if you properly line it up with Upheaval. I wouldn't really advise doing this to increase your DPS, but consider that it can allow you to benefit from Defiance with nigh impunity.

Pretty much. Although I do remember that War's Vengeance alone wasn't enough to take Critical Hit while DRK could take it with Shadow Wall and TBN.

While that may have been true, it wasn't really relevant; WAR could just alternate between Vengeance + Awareness and Holmgang to deal with Critical Hit.

Thank you all for the replies, I guess I just need to be brave and use holmgang more often. Is there much use of Raw Intuition at the moment other than for SiO due to most TB being magical?

You can use Raw Intuition to mitigate auto-attacks, or physical tankbusters. Otherwise, it's SiO food.

There are still some physical busters. When it comes to Savage, O5S has Head On, O7S has Arm and Hammer, and O8S has Ultimate Embrace; O7S and O8S also have physical auto-attacks.

There's plenty of use for Raw Intuition. I've actually died to Kefka Savage because the healers underestimate how much damage he can deal during transitions: I've been getting into the habit of using it for those times I expect to take several AAs in a row.

Magic only fights are the exception, not the rule. Magic only tankbusters... admittedly more common.

If you're truly concerned about cooldown usage, what you need to do is look at an encounter timeline. There you will see all the skills a boss will use in order and the excact time intervals, so you can determine what cooldowns need to be available at certain times.

I start my fight using ToB in my opener, holmgang the remorse, then vengeance the first doom strike.

soon afterwards, I use SiO to consume vengeance and give a shield for the party, and I activate RI, awareness, and rampart. As soon as I see the cast for Head On, I use reprisal, and stay put at the front to eat Head on.

then 90 seconds later, RI, SiO, and Rampart comes off cooldown, and that's when proximity bombs are let out. Now you can use RI for SiO to consume and help the party out, and use rampart and ToB for the upcoming doomstrike if your co-tank is too incompetent to voke off you.

The whole point is there's no need to be scared about being naked and without cooldowns so long as you take the steps for proper preliminary investigation. You can even slip into defiance with unchained active so you can keep your damage but have the safety net of tank stance.
