The Likelihood of Opening Balmung During Events?

Despite knowing the chances of this being next to nothing, would it be at all possible for SQUEENIX to allow transfers during any major upcoming events? Rather difficult playing with friends on a World that is always congested.

The likelyhood of this is pretty much zero and its likely to stay that way for a long time to come. you just happen to have friend on a very popular server to the point that the server is close to it limit (its not a simple matter of adding new hardware, its what the software can handle too)

I figured as much. The deal is giving it some time, and if nothing comes of it then they will likely transfer out. Shame, honestly. I'm curious to what the character limit per World is even set to.

SE did for a short while at the beginning of 4.2 I believe open Balmung up completely, and then...... SE closed it again completely

They opened it and shut it down in less than three days if I remember right.

Mostly because RMT bots flooded the server unfortunately.

It was re opened I don't recall seeing any news in regards stopping it. I will check news again.

Their mistake was opening Balmung to new chara creation. They should've left it like it was for a good while for paid transfers only. At the very least, we likely would've seen a lot less bot activity. :\

Assuming Im remembering right, we were open for around week and some change.

I wouldn't expect the server to open for any major events, if anything your best bet will be to wait out the dry spell between the last patch(es) between stormblood and whatever comes next.

I think this would be fair vs straight opening the character creation.

The problem with opening Balmung at all, even for brief periods of time, is that the influx of people greatly exceeds the number of people that leave it. That's why it was closed so quickly the last time it opened. Being closed for so long has both helped and hurt. While yes, it kept more people from coming in, it also made a lot of people want to transfer to it BECAUSE it was closed. Drop the gates and there's just going to be another flood of people pouring in followed by a very quick lockout, just like last time.
