Misuse of magic.

I don't know where to post this but lately doing the raids I noticed the skill Rescue being misused to pull someone doing the Limit break causing wipe.

If a GM can see this please pass this along to the dev team or something,Make it where it cannot pull someone out of Limit break.

I have notice this a few times, I am sure people think its funny like a gag but its very annoying.

Not sure this should be in feedback so I just posted it here.

Pulling someone out of a LB with Rescue is actually a good thing if it's done properly (That is, pulling only after you see that the LB cast has completed), as it cancels out the ridiculously long animation lock and allows the player to start moving and DPSing again immediately, which is more likely to save them then kill them if you're not pulling them into an AoE or something.

If you see someone doing it specifically to cause problems, that's what vote kick is for.

Well it wasn't being used for a good thing, I understand its a good thing but not the way they are doing it.
its being used to troll one of the guys even laughed I could of GM'd him but I rather do it the nice way.

as the skill is supposed to be in dangerous issues used that isn't a dangerous issue when boss needed to be killed then they do it for a laugh and die.

If someone is Limit breaking its for a good reason not a bad reason.

If so: This seems like a classic case of "Just move on".
Seriously. We established that even in that situation the skill can be used for good and bad and there is no need to take away the good because some people are jerks (or might used it to early).
Its not game breaking in any way and while it can be annoying, it can also be used for good, so...

If its not a one time thing, I'd have to ask: Is this a new trend on your data center? Or are you running with this person on a regular basis? If so... why?

Limit breaks arent only used to kill the boss at 1% - most groups are using a LB in the middle of the fight in O7S. Or generally as soon as it hits 3 bars in Savage/EX-Primals in order to get a second LB (unless it needs to be saved for a certain mechanic).
And sometimes you can time that very badly - thouught that now was a safe moment to do it and... there are AoEs appearing at your feet!
Or you have a situation like in Chrysalis, where you want to use the LB on the aether-rift-thingie instead of on the boss. Cant tell you how many LBs Nabriales has eaten though, even after people were told not to use it on him...

Do you want to enable tank-lb alltogether btw? Because except for a few fights, it never has to be used, so if a tank uses it and wastes the 3 bars...

Seriously, in dungeons, 24-man raids and NM-primals this shouldnt make or break the run (most bosses are killed without the LB ever being touched, at least thats my experience).
So the only content where this could matter is Savage - which you should do with a trustworthy group in the first place.

Oh also: everyone except bard and maschnist has an ability to prevent Rescue alltogether - unless I'm terribly mistaken, your knockback-ability should also cancel out Rescue (I vaguely recall me trying that with Tempered Will and Rescue at the beginning of SB). So if its bothering you so much... pop Arms Length before you use your LB.

Nope few times, been happening in raids lately.

Cousin even said it happen to him in the final fantasy tactics raid on the chariot boss. he didn't die but he was little ticked off about it, told the guy quit using rescue to troll. I told him it happened to me a few times also.

You know this reminds me of how white mages also used fluid to troll back then also by using it over and over without having a reason but this pulling people while trying to fight bosses and stuff is out of hand I am hoping they will get tired of it but whatever.

I don't get why people defend these type of people and say move on I'll just report next time this way they get in trouble.

its a form of harassment when you laugh you are doing wrong especially when you wipe because some guy decides to screw you near the end of the fight and we gotta fight the boss all over again.

Dont find it useful and i bet people will defend it anyways. Its usueless waste of space.:) only good if u want 100% optimize uptime on savage speedruns. (Insignificant by 1-2 gcd)Otw USELESS. People are able to move themselves.

Ik where to stand and i stood infront of him where it was safe and my co hlr pulled me off and i got hit at the same time when the boss moved. Its rlly not biggie anyways.
Healers should just do them and so should dpser.

I'm not sure how failing to LB could wipe the group unless everyone was dead and a healer was trying to healer LB or if an add needed to be killed quickly by a DPS LB.

It wouldn't surprise me if some people are so paranoid about bad parses that they'd rather force a wipe then have someone upload a mediocre parse, though...

The rescue has its uses..Like I uses it to pull people around in rabanastre at the first boss when people are ignoring to stack ontop of the water spouts...

Its not a complete waste since you can actually use it to do what the name is suggesting LOL

People need atleast common sense to figure stuff out by now.

But people don't have common sense. If they did you wouldn't see them die to room wide aoe that the dog boss in void ark does. You'd see them go and hide like everyone else and not become fast friends with the floor. Or get on a puddle to survive mega death. That and I also don't know how one lb not going off wiped a whole alliance. There's things the OP is omitting from their story. Can people troll with rescue? Sure, but you can troll with a lot of other things. Like recently I've been running into fluid aura abusers or mch using blank cause hey why not. I'm surprised someone else didn't spam their LB button once they saw the lb got interrupted. The fight to be the one to use the LB is very real at times people get into fights about it.

The skill isnt the problem, the behaviour is. And I'm not defending troll-behaviour I'm defending the skill being the way it is because when used properly it has its value.
If you want to make everything anti-toll-proff we wouldnt see the end of changes... so instead of "fixing" the skill, we need to fix peoples attitude - since they most likely cant really be reasoned with, a report is your way to go here.

Rescue isnt the problem, trolling is. But you wont fix that by making everything troll-proof, since that would turn the game pretty boring, pretty quickly.

I'd be all for a toggle for yourself to allow rescue to work on you or not, that way if ur doing casual stuff and don't want to be trolled u have the option where people doing hardcore content have the option to use it legitimately. I haven't encountered someone using rescue to troll me or someone else but I can very clearly see how someone can be trolled with it. I think I even remember a MrHappy video with the healers playing a game to see who could pull happy into the most instakill mechanics with rescue.

I faintly remember there was a -disablehelp command in a game like... was it DOTA2? Maybe we could use a similar string or feature in FFXIV to tackle the problem. If it's codable properly in the end, is the other question.

Nobody cares about 24 man raid parses. It's just someone trolling. It's not even really actionable either so I'm not confident a report would even do anything.

Get put into Titan (Hard)

Healer uses Rescue to pull me right to the edge of the arena just before the boss causes that part of the arena to collapse, causing us both to fall off.
One tank and one healer down, neither can be raised because that's how falling off in Titan works, and the other tank has no idea what he's doing...

It ends in a wipe.
Then i get yelled at for falling off
"OMG RETARD TANK DON'T FALL!"

Also, a question: If this was a such an ongoing issue...why was no one brave enough to issue a vote kick? :x

Before reporting, that would be the most logical thing to do. If anything, I remember I had someone do that to me and the GM literally said "players are able to use the votekick". Meaning that they probably dont see this worth their time

That is not true. Just because someone can LB, does not mean that they should LB. If someone uses an LB3 that is being reserved for an upcoming mechanic, or if it needs to be reserved for the healer because nearly everyone is dead, and the boss still has plenty of HP, then it is not a good thing. And in such a situation, you can best believe I am going to 'Rescue' my party from this players imminent mistake. Assuming I'm fast enough anyway.

I have found that healers are more likely to misuse Rescue in 24-man and unsynced EX primals. IOW, content where people are just dicking around anyway. If it is happening in content that needs to be taken seriously, then that is what vote kick is for.

This is not something that needs to be done. The last thing healers need is for someone to disable the ability to be Rescued, especially with how many dps seem to think it's a game of how many vulnerability debuffs they can stack. After a while the only option left to the healer to keep a dps alive is to pull their ass out of mechanics. If anything I wish the CD on rescue was lower. I've been having a hell of a time with dps and tanks both eating mechanics in Hell's Lid that give debuffs and the only way to avoid wasting MP scraping them off the floor is to forcibly move them.

Fixed a few parts of that...at least from my experience from healing(in mentor roulette getting low level dungeons - last night it was Copperbell second boss...tank ate EVERY bomb blast, and I don't slot rescue so couldn't do much but heal them back up since keyboard died on me).

So from what I have gathered, this skill is being abused at times much like WoW's "Life Grip" that priests have. When you give something to a player that has the ability to manipulate another player or object, eventually someone is going to abuse it and use it against its intended use. Which sucks because then if it gets abused too much, then devs either nerf it or remove it all together.

Actually, in WoW, they made an item that's on the player's discretion to use called the Neural Silencer. It also deals with a lot of other disruptive things in game, like the Toy Train Set. Quite a good little solution to a widespread problem, while letting players still be....well, players.

Which they shouldn't have had to do in the first place. It just sucks that players will abuse good things and use them to cause problems in dungeons and raids.

Aye. Rescue's cooldown is perhaps one of the longest of any job's oGCD cooldowns. That in itself was likely meant to be a deterrent from it being heavily abused for trolling behavior.

Me? I just hate how server ticks mess with it to the point if I don't pull someone out of something soon enough, they just rubberband themselves back and still get hit somehow.

That might be so but there are other things that don't unsync that have fall points.
Its not the point to begin with if someone don't want to die you shouldn't use the skill to kill them regardless if its unsync or not not your choice especially if someone ask you not to do it.

Or use it to interrupt them, you are ruining the experience of someone else's game play or causing bad stuff to happen this is wrong even if you think its funny and harmless and a joke it might end up biting you when a GM decide to temp ban you for it.

Might not be me reporting but someone else might and trust me it catches up with you regardless of what your opinion is about it.
