Question about New Jobs

A few members in my LS were discussing an article posted on an unofficial website in which an interview was held discussing the New Classes/Jobs to be implemented in Patch 1.21.

The aforementioned article stated that, as we all know, two Classes will be required to unlock the quest for the new jobs. For example, Paladin will require lvl 30 Gladiator + lvl 15 marauder.

Furthermore, I was informed that the level of the new job acquired would be equivalent to the lvl 30 job requred to unlock the quest. For example, Paladin, once unlocked and quest completed, would start off at lvl 30 due to the fact that GLD 30 is required to unlock it. If Gladiator is level 50 then Paladin will be given to the player as a lvl 50 job.

Is this true? Will we essentially just be given a "new job" at the lvl equivalent of the main Class necessary to unlock these new Job Quests? Or will we be given a new lvl 1 job to lvl through the ranks?

It is my personal oppinion that being given a new Job starting at the level of the primary Class required to unlock said new Job quest would be to he detriment of the playing community.

It had been said that the job will be the same level as the class that unlock it, so if u have a Gla level 50, Pld will be level 50 too.

I personally like it if jobs start at level 1 but thats me.

Jobs are a specialization, not a completely new class. No need to regrind a class you already leveled.

Your job has no level, only your class has one. If you are GLA50 and you equipped the Paladin job stone, you are still a GLA50 but named as Paladin, with more defense, less strength attributes with new skills but less other class skills. Thats how I understood the job system.

I dont know but Arc turning into a Brd is kinda a whole new class to me

It's not, though. Bard builds on what Archer already has. You don't get some kinda whole new class.

That's not the case. You level up the class to which that job is attached, not the job itself. The quests you're referring to are going to be made for gettin' job's abilities and job-specific equipment.

I'm going off of what I've read from SE's posts directly, not some interview written by a third party and posted by another third party.

Pretty sure the wording that was used was "advance" and not "level up." That is what Umo is trying to say.

Regardless, these are the facts: JOBs do not level up, they are tied to the respective CLASS level. JOBs advance through quests in the form of exclusive abilities and gear.

I believe your wording is correct. You will be gimp by not doing the job class quests, which is what it looks like people are hoping for here.

Its pretty simple dude... This is not an advance job its just a remake of the old jobs. For advance job you're going to start from lvl1.

pretty much at 1.21 we ll get 14 class of choise instead of 7 and advance from those 7

To clarify further, while fighting as a bard you will obtain Archery experience points, because you are, in effect, still an archer. You've just specialised into a certain type of archer.

But yea to stay on topic, it will be something like you become a Super Saiyan by equiping the Job Stone (no your hair won't dry).
Once you unlock the Job, you will have to do quests and unlock its abilities to be able to use 100% of your Job.

this is the 15th millionth time this has been brought up and its not gonna happen get over it.

Yes, I was afraid of this...

Essentially it is similar to WoW Job specialisation/individualization of the present Classes. I suppose this puts a whole other spin on the reintroduction of the point allotment system.

Oh well, I was hoping for new lvl 1 classes to level up but this'll do.

Can you be a little more specific please? What is the 15th million time what has been brought up and what isn't going to happen? Get over what?

Jobs will be quest based and not grind based, so if you get at gla 50 you will get pld 50 buuut still have to quest for the pld abilities

I don't understand why people can't grasp the most basic principle of the job system.

Jobs gain abilities and possibly other unique characteristics through quests, they DO NOT level up. It has been said over and over and over again that jobs will not have their own experience levels and any experience earned while playing a job will go straight to that respective class.

correct would be "so 50 GLA would unlock 50 PLD"

They've already stated that Jobs are designed for "end-game" content.

I wonder if that also means Jobs will be ineffective at solo exp grinding.

If that's the case it would be brutal trying to get Paladin from 1 to 50 on quest leves.

So SE has saved us the trouble and only require the "soloable" classes to have to grind to 50.

And by saved us the trouble I mean keeping FFXIV on easy mode so casual players don't get frustrated.


Although I can't see why a Monk would have problems soloing, I figured I'd throw out the idea to keep this thread alive and flaming.

Now gear mannequins and presets are more than welcome ^^ Instant gear change when you upgrade from Class to Job.

With a nice FX like the whirling one when you eat food but faster. Your character shines and poof you're PLD and geared. Different FX for different Job =)

Maybe the new servers will be able to do that.

any new player will play class to 30 then job to 50. the job system was not designed to make poeple who lved everything to 50 happy.

No, because they said your job will be capped untill you progress through quests and gain higher level limits / Artifact armour.

Your job would have the same level as the class, because the jobs don't have a level itself.
GLA50 = PLD50
Progress through quests is for skills and armor, not level.

Your Job won't have any level. It will have the stats (maybe a slight boost? Maybe its own? But capped by the Class level) of the related Class level. If you are Gladiator 30, you will be able to switch to PLD but it will keep your Gladiator stats (maybe a slight boost? Maybe its own? But capped by the Class level). What will change is you will lose your X-Actions and you will be able to equip new Action(s) granted by the Job.
Then, as you level your Class, you will unlock quests from level 30 to level 50 from which you will be able to learn your next Job Actions.

you do know that jobs only acquire about 5 new skills. skills earned in quest. if you started the job at lvl 1 you would be just regrinding the class to lvl 30 or 35 until you get your first job skill. then you would have to grind that class 5 more lvls til you see another skill. Do you really wanna lvl the same class twice.

they made job skills so you earn them on quest which i think was the right thing to do with this strange class/job format they are going with.

jobs are just a slight advancement over classes giving them a few party focused skills and a stat modification. Forget what you know about ff11 cause its not even remotely the same
