There will be log-in bonuses where you will receive a kupo nut that you can give to a Moogle to buy something off the market board for you. You'll also be able to chat from your friends list peruse your inventory and your retainers inventory if you have premium you can also set up and schedule events.
Lol there being a premium version... i can see it now blah blah blah i gotta pay for blah blah blah what's my sub for blah blah blah
Lol sorry i just thought it was kinda funny that they went the freemium route not a bad thing i don't mind paying for premium if the price is right and its worth my money
Rip android users
I think its time I start to consider if I really wanna stay subbed at this point. The coins and nuts are pay to win garbage. The whole app reminds me of the garbage BDO does and I absolutely hate that game because of it.
5 bucks for the premium version vs what they're offering doesn't seem worth it to me. The free version though, so awesome, cannot wait to get my hands on the calendar for event planning!
Seems that premium is 5dollars a month: additional kuponut, additional retainer, you can organize items between retainers directly and the saddle, saddle capacity doubled... Not sure if I left something out.
Extra storage with the retainer and the saddlebag I'll take it.
People calling the coins and nuts "pay to win" don't seem to understand the definition of the term.
Being able to remotely buy items does not give you a major advantage over non-paying players.
Pay to win would be something like offering Savage gear for real money.
Houses on the mog shop when?
I'm sad that they said they'll want to give us as much inventory space as possible. But apparently all of it is locked behind a paywall in a sub based game.
I've said this in other threads, but it's worth repeating. It's very telling that a significant portion of each Live Letter is now devoted to advertising additional ways for people to spend money on the game. Meanwhile glaring issues such as the infestation of bots and win traders in PvP continue to avoid being addressed in a meaningful manner.
Not surprised they put saddlebag increase and a retainer that does not count toward retainer limit behind the premium to get people to install the thing. Extra inventory is always going to be a cash grab. We just got lucky they created and gave out a saddlebag to everyone free of charge before they found out how to increase its limit and put a price on it.
Good more P2W movements and practises. Premium upon premium. The Mog Station and the increasing prices over the years already gave a picture on where the game is heading.
The premium features are overpriced as expected. But what killed it is the crap mobile P2W special currency to do things and the obligation to log in every day.
It's probably a way to limit the increase so that the servers won't explode AND ripping off a few bucks while doing it.
In otherwords it's terrible, they should've never done it and it soured everything for me, don't even care if it's ok for japan.
I do not like this development.
Savage gear doesn't give you a major advantage over non-paying players either.
Like, what are you gonna do with it? Beat your expert roulette faster? Beat Savage encounters a bit earlier? Not P2W unless you make a speedrun contest for yourself, which is made up by yourself, not provided by the game. The only time those stats can ever matter is when competing for Hunt credit.
And if you stretch the term to account for such minor advantages, then retainers, inventory upgrades and more suddenly become P2W.
Stat boosts in PvP, now 'that' would be P2W by a strict definition of the term.
I can only assume that the server really cannot handle it. If they gave it to everyone, that's more stress on the server. If they charge for it. it limits the total number of people using that space on the server. More or less, it's a filter for those that really want it while also giving them maintenance money for the app.
I doubt the servers are in such a dire state. Square Enix make a significant amount of money and could easily redirect the money made from existing purchases into expanding FFXIV's server stability/capacity. Yet they've made it clear that they fund other projects with the money made from FFXIV.
It's really hard not to get the impression that half their budget is going into premium features at this point. Can't even get an official translation of what they're trying to sell us, but hey, hurry up and buy!
Pretty disappointing, especially for things like transferring inventory between saddlebag and retainer. That's clunky as hell in game and they're making you pay to fix a basic UI defect? Pathetic.
And what's with the kupo nuts, anyway? That just smells like an iOS game that wants you to constantly be logging in and babysitting it. They don't need to over complicate every damn thing.
The ability to buy them.
It depends on how it's implemented. If they're leasing somehow extra service space it makes all the sense in the world that it'll be locked behind an extra paywall as that fee will be used to pay the rent.Quote:
Also funny how they are able to double the saddle capacity if you pay them money but otherwise server somehow cant handle it..
Granted, it's only an assumption, just that on paper it's not unreasonable.
Basically. From what I got, the daily kupo nuts are available for everyone daily but if you want more you'll have to buy kupo coins. Think buying extra lives when you run out of your quota in basically every mobile game out there.
Alright, to give credit where credit is due they are talking about the bot infestation. That's a step in the right direction at least - though it's sorely needed since PvP is at risk of dying out.
The problems with instance servers frankly spells that they have reoccuring problems with it.
About money I don't know where they go nor I want to talk about suppositions of where they are going.
Fact remains that this app, while it might be considered normal in japan I will consider it unacceptable
The most worrying thing is not necessarily what they have announced but instead what they could use moogle coins and kupo nuts for in the future... This would be fine for a f2p MMO but even WoW doesn't stoop this low.
I swear ff14 does everything in it's power to make me hate moogles, lol
I like the idea of the app, I can imagine myself forking over extra for the premium. However it does perplex me a little seeing a sub game pull something like this. I’d expect it more from a F2P game.
Every extra cash grab like this puts me closer to unsubbing. When I chose to play a sub game I was expecting pretty much everything to be available without any extra fees.
They specifically said it doesn’t mean you instantly get a free retainer just that the limit on the number you can buy is increased by 1.
I’m definitely getting the free version. But FFXIV is getting absurdly greedy at this point, it seems like they’re trying to shoehorn payments into any avenue they can find these days. If it was a one off payment I might have considered it, but a monthly fee on top of our monthly fee so we can pay another monthly fee for a new retainer?! Give me a break...
They say they want to be careful so they don't break the server (or some variation of that). Actually, if we're being accurate, it's less the server/server capacity itself and more the bandwidth needed/used that they seem to be most concerned with.
Important distinction between not being able to do it all (as you claim they claim) and being cautious (arguably too cautious too often, but if you don't expect that at this point I'm not sure what to tell you).
Do you consider 70 extra slots (out of nearly 1k provided for free, and ones you can't craft from), being able to move things from retainers while away from the game, and being able to buy/sell a couple more times on the MB when away (you can also do this with the free version, just fewer times) to be that much of the game?
I'm personally not a fan of the premium cost/moogle coins part, but the extras you're talking about here seem exceptionally minor compared to what you get with the sub fee.
you can do what ever you want SE. im still not willing to spend extra money for inventoryspace. its maybe not pay2win but its pay4advantage and thats not okay in a subgame. (in my opinion)
If it's part of the game, it should be part of the sub. Same for all the minions, orchestion rolls, glamour items, furniture etc. that go straight to the Mogstation (or are sold with soundtracks/figures/books) without being available through events. This app is just one more thing on top of all the other things I'm annoyed by.
