Tents, Cottage

Would be fun to cast a Tent to recover while on a quest or while camping monsters. The Tents could provide crafting facilitys, protection from aggressive monster while talking, looking at maps, setting maccro, going afk, resting, change gears, repair gears etc, in a dangerous area.

And personaly, I think it would just add some fun, a bit of RP in mmorpg.

What do you think?

add camp fires and i would love this. Mabinogi had party tents it was so fun. Even making a campfire for cooking. ^^ i wish the game was sub based i'd play it more the story was awesome. as was the character creation. ^^ and the "you are what you wore/ abilities set" fun game w/o a class system :3

Sure, the fireplace would pop out too when you cast a Tent :P

There are already camp fires around the world, why not make it a requirement to camp near camp fire spots?

I'd love this.

That's one of the things I miss the most - items. I dunno.. maybe lower a little the HP and MP recovery, so people would actually use potions and ethers outside of battle. And tents and cottages near camps to heal :) Instead of touching the aetheryte. It would be a nice FF touch.

And potions and ethers are too high ranked items for an alchemist to make :)

Weavers and LW could make and sell tents and carpenters could make and sell cabins. would definatly add to economy but the farming downtime on game engine might be anoying.

but temporary lodging might cause forcing issue on discussion about player housing and growing plants etc.

ps. When do we get out moogles and chocobos?

This!!
Can only 'cast' tent near one of the many camp fire locations throughout the world.
And once cast the fire becomes lit.

Also, if you spend too long in one location at your campsite, you get fined 200gil for "Loitering With-in Tent" *rimshot*

I did enjoy breath of fire 3's campsites whenever you used a tent.

Ranger from star wars galaxies had an ability to set up temporary camp structures.

mabinogi lets you build fires and pitch tents. Its pretty cute and the campfires give you resting.

because those campfires are already at camps >.> that would be uber boring, and everyone would have the same camp out spots.

Not all of them..
I've seen several Unlit camp fires around Gridania (Black Shroud) and Ul'Dah (Thanlan), and no doubt they're in the Limsa region as well.
If /tent (or /camp) in game worked so it could only be cast near one of these sites, and then the fire became lit
(Much like one of the Gridania Side quests does)

Thinking back to the times I was grinding for mats around Ul'Dah.
I do believe they remain Unlit during night hours.

If the servers were up I could give you exact coordinates on where to find such an Unlit Camp Fire not too far from Camp Black Brush
(roughly half way between Black Brush and Nanawa mines)

I've seen some unlit camp fires. Actually, one sidequest from Gridania (conjurer's guild) is for you to lit 3 of them :)

you could set them up near bodies of water as a guard for fishing, that'd be pretty neat.

All for it. Mostly because I'm all for anything that adds variety and fluff to MMOs.

Adding Tents and Cottages for "World Map" Usage will help Final Fantasytize this game more ^^

Actually what i think from some time is to enable SWG style3 housing in FFXIV. There are lots of small settlements mile Aleport, Wineport, where you could give some 'lots' for players to build their houses. One per server per account i would guess, but still. give few variants of them, and would make gameworld much richer.

I actually dont think there's enough room for swg style player housing, keep in mind swg gave you a lot of empty space.

They can drop 1:1 scalingh, and make inside instanced, bigger than the looks from outside:P
