Mutamix Bubblypots usefulness

for those who don't remember Mutamix, he's a goblin in Central Than that can remove 1 materia from equipment at the cost of destroying said equipment AND he can take "five need-nots" and turn them into a different randomly selected materia with a chance of it increasing in grade (V into VI)

Given that a certain relic crafting, crystal dealing, blacksmith was given the ability to exchange crystals in various stack sizes, would love to see that same treatment here. With our character's ability to cause monsters to crap out Grade Vs with a look, I've been visiting this goblin a lot rather than flooding an already saturated market with more V materia. Eureka Lockboxes have made this problem worse.

Basically, I want to be able to exchange 50 Grade V materia at once and get back 10 randomly selected materia rather than going "here's 5, take 1. here's 5, take 1" for 30 minutes. Or at the very, very least, please let me skip the cutscene that happens when you get a higher grade materia. I have that box checked that is supposed to skip already viewed cutscenes, please let it apply to this guy as well.

You can remove materia yourself, the higher the grade the lower the success chance, WITHOUT destroying equipment. Pretty sure you learn it rom Mutamix.

though I find Mutamix's "flutterdance" entertaining, it does get old real fast especially when exchanging a lot of materia. I do wish interaction time with him can be reduced for productivity's sake.

know this and have used it. Only reason I brought it up is cause it's 100% chance to remove the materia and if you don't care about the equipment but do care about the materia, there ya go

Seconded.

At the very least, can we not have the game completely back out of the materia transmutation menu, if we’re going to continue on the “here’s 5, take 1” exchange? It’s annoying have to go back into it after every transmutation. At least let it stay open so we can continue to add in 5 materia until we’re done.

iirc I think you can level any crafter up to a certain level (19, I think?) and it'll unlock the quest line that allows you to do the various things with materia, like assimilation, melding, and removing materia. As for Mutamix himself removing materia, I've not tried it so I'm not positive what happens there. But multiple transmutations in a single shot would be nice, that much I can say lol.

They removed Mutamix's ability to remove materia when they added the ability for players to do it themselves. If you select the option now, he just tells you to do it yourself. Also, Mutamix's materia removal never destroyed the equipment, and it also did not save the materia. He would simply remove (and destroy) the materia on a selected piece of gear for a small fee. It was merely there to give people the option to remeld with new materia if they really wanted to. It serves no purpose now that people can freely remove (and mostly keep) their melded materia, so SE scrapped it.

bit saddening then, almost went to go make use of it the other day when I got a new accessory and didn't want the the previous equipment until I went "but GC seals means ventures"

This won't happen, because the materia you receive back is dependent on the materia you give him. You won't receive back a traded materia, so it will improve your odds of actually getting a desirable materia if you give him 5 different kinds of undesirable materia, rather than say, 5x Intelligence materia.

I'd be fine if they just stop making you go through the cutscene each time.

Yeah that would do it for me. You can only click through the prancing and explosions so fast. I mean, it's fun and everything until you've seen him do it something like 300 times. So yeah, second this.

it's just what I want to happen in a perfect world type thing. Other, simpler and easier to implement, options have already popped up in the thread. Such as not having us go through the menus again just to get back to the transmutation menu to do it all over again. Seriously, this alone could cut the time spent at this one NPC in half.

There's stuff that could be trimmed down for sure, but just saying that the whole "give 50 materia, receive 10 materia back" thing cannot happen, because for any particular transmutation the system is specifically designed to not be able to give back the materia you used in the transmutation, therefore his whole business pretty much has an inherent "each transaction must be handled separately" clause. The game would not be able to properly determine which materia should be used in each "transaction" if you just handed him 50 at once.

Why not?! It's a matter of just making materia sets. For example, opening the transmutation could open a window similar to inventory window, five boxes wide, let's say ten boxes high. Every line is its own transmutation and if it will be filled with five materia, a little lamp will turn on the side showing that they will be transmuted. Fill in as many or as few lines as you want to transform multiple materia all the while following the rules of a single transmutation. To make filling it up even easier, make changes to the way the game recognizes dropping objects in a stack. If you hold a stack of let's say 10 Intelligence V materia and click on one of these slots, it's filled with one piece of the materia and you still hold the stack of 9 to quickly fill multiple slots.

There. An easy solution to significantly speed up the transmutation, while still making each a unique instance for the game.

Given that the crafting menu can remember your choices on materials, it'd be great if it could remember our materia choices between each mix (with, ofc, not having to leave the menu). If I have 50 vit v, 45 mind v, 50 crit v, 50 ss v, 50 piety v, I want it to remember that composition and for me to be able to spam the "go" button 45 times (with no cutscenes, omg, just give me a hq fish sound or something when I crit) and then have the menu open for me to replace those mind v with something else when the stack runs out.
