Can we get world PvP in Eureka that you can toggle on and off? And if you kill someone they drop crystals?
No.
We already have too many PVP bots now, we don’t need more.
If you've ever played World of Warcraft on a PVP server you would know why this is a bad idea. A dueling arena for crystals? Sure, otherwise people would gank others just trying to farm/grind. Many would forget to opt out when they want to do some PVE stuff.
Before you ask for something like this, ask how many players are willing to do this. The rewards need to be at least 80% as good as nm trains. And then ask yourself why players would subject themselves to this when they already have to deal with the extreme monster density already, they now have to deal with players who will probably try to kill them while they are fighting monsters rather than when you are en route?
Yes lets just add people having a gankfest in the middle of a NM pop for more lag, more people in the way to target, etc.
I mean, if they added this as an alternative area or something and then you can go to the Eureka pvp island, I don't see why not. But it'll probably just lead to another bot fest.
Congratulations!
I didn't think Eureka could get significantly worse than it is now - but this suggestion would take it there.
Or how about permadeath, or losing all your gear?
Seriously?
Some people just want ways to make other players suffer, since FFXIV thankfully doesn't have a lot of those ways people can exploit to ruin other peoples game experience.
Why do so many people want to turn a non PvP orientated game into a PvP based one?
If I wanted a heavy PvP game I'd go play one.
I really dislike this point of view. I know how people reach it, and it is because people who want to be bullies and jackholes use it as a cover to act in ways they want in order to be a bully or a jackhole.
Most people who enjoy PVP, especially in this game are not the people you see acting in those ways. Attacking others at spawn points, ganking newbies, doing the squat thing on corpses.
Real PVP is about my skill against another person’s skill. Anyone that takes it seriously keeps an almost honorable feel to it.
In short, most true PVP fans are nothing like what your post suggests we are.
P.S. Lace Valeria says hello to anyone reading this.
I would prefer to keep PVP separate from PVE areas.
Hell no. No Open-world PvP in this game, ever. That's how successful games die. No game that has this, has ever lasted very long. PvP runs into a wall with being F2P/P2W, because only the people willing to spend the most amount of money on the game, ever end up in a winning position.
It's possible eventually for a game to get it right, but lets keep PvP games to the Team Fortress2/Overwatch type of team fights, and avoid open-world PvP completely.
So personally, I really love PvP and wish we had more of it and more options. My WoW character was almost exclusively a PvP character with a little light raiding and I do miss that experience that I had when I played that game.
Eureka isn't really the place to add more PvP - it's already such a terrible product on its own that adding vitriol into it in the form of players attacking one another would be catastrophic. It's already starting to take a downturn in community now that it's top-heavy and top level players are getting annoyed at the lower levels in the train. More than one instance I hit yesterday had people actively MPKing low levels and then shouting how they shouldn't be in the train. It's starting to get ugly in there and PvP would make it worse.
As much as I love PvP and think it needs more content and a serious team, it's not going to save eureka.
Some people just want to watch the world burn. lol.
Open world PVP is about the most frustrating thing I've ever encountered. Back when I first started playing WoW, I remember vividly.... high level players sitting and camping low level areas just to kill new players as they spawned in. Really terrible. Made me wonder who thought this was a good idea, and also how anyone managed to get anything done with people who seemed to have no lives constantly stalking the newbies. Needless to say, I gave up on that very quickly. No thank you. Not then, not now... not ever.
I vote not. There is enough griefing in the zone already.
No just no. I like PvP but this is a terrible idea.
You can ask for Eureka inspired PvP maps but not to convert Eureka into a PvP area.
This will not work for this game. Just forget it.
I've seen the first and last in this game. Spawn camping was a strategy in seal rock, and plenty of ninja would use hide to gank people coming from spawn. Sometimes one GC would spawn camp the other. I've seen squats, laughing emotes, fireworks over corpses, etc.
I don't think there's any pvp game at all that managed to keep it civil or honorable. There's a reason our shouts are only to our own side in frontlines, after all.
I'm against the idea on the pure basis that FFXIV PvP is neither engaging or fun.
I wouldn't say that. What PvP exists in FFXIV, or at least what I played for a bit was more like capture the flag than anything else.
However "Open World" PvP zones are what destroy games when there is a cash shop aspect to it. In this game, the only suitable "PvP" open world combat would have to involve another layer of gameplay, eg "Minons battle royale"
I think PvP could spice up the relic grind. Since relic and Eureka are purely optional, it would be neat to see them explore some cool ideas with it. That way even if it doesn't work out--it was just optional content to begin with.
At most, i would simply like that one of the next steps of the Relic grind can have 1 or more of the items be gained from PvP, so for example: 2 new "Rival Wings" maps are added and they take place within Eureka as a separate zone, though obviously still able to Q from wherever. And if you don't want to do whatever the grind equivalent is for said item you can do the PvP maps for it. As far as Open world PvP though? Big fat pass!
Absolutely not. Considering how many people MPK Level 5 players because they aren't trying to help spawn Fafnir or Hazmat, the potential for abuse is just way too high for something like this. Maybe if people weren't complete buttfaces for no reason, but a lot of them are. So, no. This is a terrible idea.
Why do people confuse PvP with harassment?
It's not confusing it. It's knowing that people will use it as a form of harassment. Considering how salty people get when low-levels aren't helping spawn a high-level NM, do you think they'd respond any kinder if they had the ability to open-world PvP the person and cause them to lose Crystals. Sorry, but I don't think they would be kind at all.
