Firstly this isn’t a complaining post I’m just curious as to what others do when they get bored of playing this game. Could anyone recommend some other MMO’s like this one? I’ve been doing some research and have been trying Black Desert Online, however I don’t think it’s for me. I find this game just so repetitive and although I’ll never give up thanks to the Housing situation I want another MMO to spend my time on and get excited about but I’ll always be a FF fanboy. I’m looking for a MMO that’s more or less PvE with a decent story and one that actually contains a social aspect with a similar combat system. As a casual player I find FFXIV to be a single player game, I play for a few hours a day and barely speak to anyone as I’m just doing roulette’s. Graphically I wouldn’t mind something realistic akin to Black Desert, but nothing less style wise than FFXIV. Alternatively, can anyone suggest something fun things they do in FFXIV; bearing in mind I mainly have a couple of hours a night. Any help would be appreciated. Oh I'm currently waiting for Bless Online to try.

Most of the time I'm back to FFXIV when there's nothing else. For instance, there's Ni No Kuni 2 and Far Cry 5 that are released tomorrow so I will leave Eorzea for a few weeks I think. Maybe until a few days before 4.3 ?
I had stopped the game for a few months and it was great to play it again for a month or two, I even leveled a PLD that may become my new main class after years of DRG. Now, well, I'm doing some housing, a few roulettes but well, it's good some new games are coming to refresh everything a little. -

I guess there's one MMO I can recommend for story. Secret World. It... it's an MMO with a lot of problems, at least last I played. If you're feeling super retro and don't mind putting up with a metric ton of bullsh** just to get it installed and running, and don't mind an extra monthly fee, you can play the older FF MMO -- FFXI. And once you're in, it's still a huge timesink to get stuff done and you need a wiki open constantly. But it's got story. It's FF. -

Thanks for the suggestions. My gathering and crafting are already LVL 70, most of them anyway. I really don't want to turn to WoW but seems the most similar game. I've been looking at ESO as an alternative. Anyone played it before. I just want a bit of excitement back in my MMO. Logging on yo wait 15 mins for a roulette. Rince and repeat a few times a night just isn't exciting lol. I wish FFXI was more with it as ive played years (game time) on that game and abandoned it for XIV.

When I get bored, I jump onto one of the many other RPGs I have that I haven't finished yet(Tales of Zesteria, Tales of Berseria, Dragon Age Inquisition, FFXII, FFXV, Star Ocean - just to name a few).

I got tired of my in-game circles doing literally nothing except Eureka and raid logging, so I'm resubbed to WoW right now. I never properly got into it, and I enjoy their questing and zones. I also picked up a bunch of random Steam games -- try Risk of Rain, Slime Rancher, or Crypt of the NecroDancer if you haven't yet. Last one is on sale for 3 bucks atm.

Mostly I loved it because of the Elder Scrolls lore and the graphics. There's quite a lot to do/see/explore, though, so it's probably worth checking out if you can give it a free trial. Last I played (I know their levelling systems have changed so I'm not sure if this has) you could actually play through all 3 of the factions on one character - kinda opposite XIV who lets you play all the classes but stick to one starting zone (not like the starting zones give a lot, though). Mostly only log in for weeklies myself lately & some days I intentionally igorne FF14 cause I know I can be on in-time before daily reset next day (& have more "concentration" to actually focus on FF14 for longer, I get easyly distracted & lazy). other games I play regularly are:
-Starcraft 2, PC (will never get to pro-gamer lv but I can live with that, just want my old Brood-war lv skill back really... curse u age & years without a PC)
-Heroes of the Storm & Overwatch, Both PC (just I intentionally use my PS4 controller for Overwatch)
-Xcom 2, PC (lol's & just recently bought all the "Battle" DLC, WOTC/Sparks/Hunter)
-SAO: Fatal Bullet, PC (could of got it on PS4 but for some reason got it on PC even thou I use a PS4 controller to play... also I'm so close to getting the "real" ending I dropped it a week ago)
Throw in Binge-watching several anime episodes, House work, actually Job-work & my lack of focus/lazyness... and u got my average day... every day -

ESO was the first MMO I ever played and it nearly turned me off from them as a whole, though I'm not sure any of the things that impacted me will be an issue for you.
First and foremost was voice chat. Back when I played it was the only chat available. I had a fair few situations where "Oh, a girl in chat" turned into uncomfortable conversations/borderline harrassment. Also people in dungeons assuming I would suck and then openly voicing their surprise when I didn't.
Next - I love healing in FFXIV but didn't know about it before ESO. I tried to main a healer in ESO (Magicka Templar) and found my dungeoning experience to be kind of meh when I got crappy dps unless I dropped some of my healing/buffs and picked up dps skills. ESO healers function more like AST than WHM - buff the group and keep them alive while they kill things. Great while you're I'm a good party, kinda awful when you get bads.
Since any class can be any role in ESO you can also choose what to queue into a dungeon as. Can't tell you how many times I broke out an Ice Destro Staff to tank an entire dungeon on healer because my "tank" was just a dps that wanted a shorter queue.
It has ESO lore which I love but in my opinion the social aspects need a huge rework. There are some gems (you can join up to 5 guilds, the equivalent of FCs) but the pitfalls are nasty. That being said if you're super casual about it (avoid trials where skill allocation matters) and use text chat that's now available/are a boy... probably a lot more fun. -

Someone in my FC recently had the idea to give us a little riddle and I liked that so much that I'm now spending quite a bit of time myself creating riddles for the FC!
I always liked the riddle-type quests in the game and was quite dissappointed that we never got such a good one as the ARR-one again. But I can understand that riddles are a lot of work and that probably not enough (or a lot) people did that quest to begin with...
But hey, if the devs dont give you the content you like - try and make it yourself! ;D
(It would honestly be great to get some tools for this type of thing - like being able to leave notes or something in the world... give NPCs lines of textes... I know that thats not possible, but a girl can dream! Right now I'm trying to find ways to work around that to be able to do more complexe riddles... keeps you quite busy and I enjoy it very much - I just hope my FC does aswell!) -

No other MMO on the market currently interests me. So, my MMO addiction simply isn't fed when I'm away from FFXIV. -

Blade and Soul. Even if action MMOs aren't quite your thing, it's worth going through the main story questline once just to experience it and see some of the stunning environments the world has to offer. It's very much a story about you, your journey, and your growth. Fantastic villain, fantastic storytelling. The final quest honestly left me a little misty-eyed.
Downside is the endgame and some gaps between story quests are very much a grind. A much more enjoyable grind than Eureka mind, but a grind nonetheless. -

I know they've changed a lot and resolved some of the things I didn't like.
